Great Place to Stay!
by Avenge about Hotel Alvalade
What a welcome respite from the city. After coming from the provinces of Angola, the Hotel Alvalade was an oasis. Great rooms with city and even harbor views. Would definitely recommend staying here if you can afford it. Has a nice rooftop swimming pool, but pricey at $170 /night. Rooms come standard with air-conditionining, telephone, radio, Mini-Bar, safe, satellite TV, and a nice bathroom.
Luanda Claas A Hotel
by Motoman4540 about Hotel Alvalade
If you want to stay in a true 5 star hotel like in the USA or Europe, Hotel Alvalade is it. Magnificent accommodations, centrally located, the suites are simply excellent, and the food is pretty good. Breakfast is included. They speak English, and have the usual amenities. The rates are comparable to a similar quality hotel in the USA, about $600 US for a fine suite. The internet access is free wifi, but is not exactly the standard that I am used to in USA, and sometimes is very slow, or nonexistent. But it is there, and I can Skype video conference without too much trouble, although my MagicJack telephone that I travel with is difficult to use here -- there is a 20 second delay or so between the time that you say something and the other person in the USA hears it, making conversation very confusing. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel if you need to go to Luanda.
Alvalade Hotel - The newest Hotel in town
by MarioPortugal about Hotel Alvalade
Built 3 years ago and located in Luanda, just a few miles from the airport, the Alvalade Hotel is the newest hotel in town.
It's 4**** Star Hotel and has 202 rooms.
Decoration is mostly on the African style and amenities required by the international costumer are all available at this accommodation.
Rates start at $200 USD per night.
The odd thing is that this price is considered normal for an Hotel in Luanda !!!
[Luanda is expensive. Gosh!!]

by 1spaniard about PIMM'S
Small restaurant not far from Alvalade Hotel. Portuguese food and decor. Good service.
A place to see people and be seen. A favourite of MP's and High Officials. Excellent traditional Portuguese food. Cozido a Portuguesa. Steaks and seafood.

Guesthouse in Luanda
by EnitPine
I will travel to Luanda in the end of February for a research on contemporary art. As all hotels seem to be very expensive, I am interested if anyone has a good recommendation for a guesthouse, or family, community where I could stay. I will stay for four weeks.
I am also looking for artists, so if you know some intersting people, or you are one of them, please let me know!
Best wishes,
Nadine
