by PEE-WEE Elephant Valley is a luxury - tented lodge situated within the Lesoma Valley in the Kasane Forest Reserve, which borders on the Chobe National Park. The Lodge is set amongst massive Camel - Thorn trees, with the main dining and lounge area slightly raised to overlook a large waterhole. This feature offers fantastic 24 hour game viewing.
There is a curio shop and a salt water swimming pool,Botswana gets really hot in the Summer season so a pool is something to look forward to even after a rough day in the bush. There are game drives and boat cruises into the Chobe National Park, these include night drives and guided walks. Elephant Valley has 8 luxury en-suite tents to accomodate about 16 guests. Generator electricity in the daytime battery@night by Radiomom A friend said "You HAVE to spend at least one night under canvas" Here we had two. Again, this isn't anything like Girl Scout Camp! Our last night, we were awakened by monkeys playing around on our "roof" -- it was really fun. We went to sleep listening to frogs that sing melodies like those hollow wooden wind chimes you may have heard. Simply enchanting.
Your bathroom (with stall shower) is a reed structure built so you enter through the rear (zippered) flaps of your tent. High quality soaps, lotions and shampoos are provided. When awakened for the 6AM drive, your "butler" sets a basket outside the front tent flap, with fresh brewed coffee, hot water for tea and biskets. You must be cautious walking to the main lodge and pool areas from the tents -- elephants and giraffes are frequently roaming the grounds.

Campsite :-) by Radiomom Um, I'm NOT a camper. But if this is camping....well, I never knew. A fantastic way to live outdoors...with an elegant shelter to provide ultimate comforts. Sandibe is one of 2 ccafrica camps we visited, and is located in the Okavango Delta, but has more "land" than water, compared to a later stop. Everything is included in the cost of your safari -- magnificent food, sumptuous accomodations, and about 6-8 staff per guest. Between and around the morning and late afternoon/evening game drives, you are fed about 6 times a day!
We were in (is it a "hut" or a rondavel?) #4. We faced a channel -- although the grasses were so high you really only knew from the sounds you heard. Frogs and hippos :-) Outside there was a two-story deck for relaxing, inside high thatched roof with ceiling fan, big screened doors/walls looking into the deep foliage surround us -- very very private. Behind the kingsize bedding structure (with high-end bedding), a long mahogany counter with double sinks looking straight outside. Step out into the curved shower with no ceiling, A carafe of amarula and one of port were in the corner desk area for your enjoyment. Oh, yeah, and they do your laundry for you, too.

A little Ikea, A little safari by Radiomom This was the second of three camps we stay at via a special offer from ccafrica. Savute Safari Camp is run by Desert & Delta. It is more of a permanent camp, and is located on the southern edge of the Chobe National Park. There are books written about the famous pride of lions here, they number about 47 this year. (See my travelogue for more pictures of this camp) The buildings are lovely, and there are two waterholes which provide 24/7 "Bush TV" which is always live :-) and entertaining!
There is a dining deck and a pool area overlooking the water holes. Also chalet #2 and #3 (where we stayed) overlook the water holes. The accomodations are extremely comfy, with white tile baths and glass window/doors. Food was more "European" than African but extremely fresh and well prepared.

A lovely Lodge, set on the banks of the Chobe River. The confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi is just 2km away and at Kazungula, the nearby village, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia meet. A trip to Vic Falls is possible from here or as we experienced a sunset cruise on the Chobe River. Clean, welcome place to stay after camping, ensuite facilities and swimming pool, albeit a rather cold one in September. Picturesque and relaxing.
Take breakfast on the restaurant verander over looking the Chobe River.

Duma Tau is set in the Linyanti Reserve next to Chobe National Park. Just outside the front of the camp is the Linyanti River.
All around this area is the largest concentration of elephants in Africa. But there is lots of other local wildlife as well, the pilot I flew in with was staying overnight so we arranged to meet in the bar after we had settled in. On his way back to the bar he found lion tracks over his tracks on the path he had used 30 minutes earlier.

This is a self-catering paradise. How would you like a thatched cottage lighted only by paraffin lanterns on the side of a mountain overseeing nothing but nature? Quiet serenity. Your cottage comes with an outdoor covered cooking area. It is supplied with gas burners, sink, cutting/draining board, table and chairs. Your cottage has comfortable beds, hot water and full bathroom, but no electricity. You do have plenty of paraffin lanterns. You also have your own site and the only sounds you hear are the crickets. Bring your own wood and food, but you can pick that up in the village. This is a great place to take a relaxing break (not far) away from Gaborone. Unfortunately the owner dies 3 weeks before I was here, but the staff still carry on. You can also go horse riding over a vast area by day. At night the 2 dogs will come and keep guard. They only charged me a little bit of steak! Please note: some guidebooks name this idyllic place ‘Country Horse Safaris’. The sign (pictured) actually says ‘Arne’s Horse Safari'. My tent at sunset by travelmad478 When looking for a place to stay in the Delta, I found that Oddballs Camp was suggested by a number of VTers, so I looked into it. I ended up staying there for two reasons--first, it was more rustic than most of the lodges around, and I really don't care for the whole linen-tablecloths-in-the-bush thing that most people revel in while on safari. Second, Oddballs was far and away the most affordable camp that I could find--and affordable, in this case, meant paying about USD 850 for a three-night stay. Botswana is MUCH more expensive than the other countries I've done safaris in, for some reason. I did have a very nice time at Oddballs. You stay in a canvas tent, sleeping on a mattress with sheets; toilet/shower/sink facilities are communal. There's hot water all the time, which is great. Accommodations include three meals a day, and you will definitely not leave hungry! All bottled drinks, including bottled water and sodas, cost extra.
I booked this trip on the internet through Lodges of Botswana in Maun. They set up everything, including my light-aircraft flights from Maun, and were extremely helpful and attentive. I highly recommend this agency.

camp at the Chobe River by sachara In Serondela Camp you are in the middle of wildlife. Watch out for the baboons. Sometimes they jump on your tent. At the site are toilets and cold water showers.
