"Opening Ceremonies - 21st ed. FESPACO"
A lot of time, preparation, long air flights, enthusiasm and love of film brought visitors from all over the world to Ouagadougou Feb. 28 - March 7, 2009.
This year's theme: African Cinema, Tourism and Cultural Patrimony.
"Tribute to Ousmane Sembeme"
A monument to Ousmane Sembeme was unveiled during a libation ceremony in honor of "those who have come before us".
Writer, Filmmaker, Ousmane Sembeme is considered the "Godfather of FESPACO".
"MEDIA SAVVY @ MOGTADO"
I developed a video production program for youth, MEDIA SAVVY and had the fortune of presenting an Animation Workshop to primary school children in the city of Mogtado.
It was a wonderful day and my "artists for a day" made some of the best flip books ever!

I'm going to visit Ouagadougou

"Intro"
I'm going to visit Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso, Africa) from June 23 to July 24. My girlfriend is there for 2 months now for school. I'm departing in a few days and will stay with my girlfriend by her parents (who are missionaries in Burkina Faso). I'll be there for 4 weeks, the first two weeks are more like a holiday and the last two weeks I'll be participating in a program which my girlfriend has arranged while she is there now (there is a youth group (about 20 people) coming from the Netherlands and we will be working on various projects, actually I don't know what these two weeks will look like :)).
"Ghana"
My girlfriend and I are planning to go to Ghana for a few days, just to look how life is there and to spent some time together :) If someone has tips about cheap hotels in Accra, please let me know (the hotel we're thinking about now, is Akuma Village).
Ouagadougou: a chaotic city

Ouaga es la capital de Burkina. No tiene nada de especial, pues es la tipica ciudad africana que debe su tamaño al hecho de ser la capital y que como consecuencia de ello ha crecido mucho en poco tiempo.
Ouagadougou

It’s quite hard to really enjoy a city after two weeks spent in the so quiet Dogon Country…
At least for me:
I’m already missing “my” baobabs and cliffs.
Anyway, I hardly appreciate cities, here or elsewhere.
I know I’m rather boring with my opinions on cities…
I know it rather comes from me than from the city itself…
I know…
So, what to say about “Ouaga” without being unfair?
It’s a very lively and busy city.
Very polluted too.
People are kind and there is no more danger here than in any other big city around the world, even when walking at night.
Some funny places and several good restaurants.
But generally speaking, not a lot of character.
Nevertheless, probably very pleasant if you live here… with money.
