Capital Hotel: Best Accomodation in Buea

I stayed in this hotel for over a week in May, 2007. It is a modern hotel that approximates, but does not quite reach, the Western standard for a good business hotel. The setting is pleasant, with an abundance of flowers and bushes, and the hotel is well shielded from the street by a long driveway. My room was pleasant, air conditioned, and reasonably well maintained. There is an excellent restaurant with a variety of European dishes and a few Cameroonian specialties. Except for the fact that my room, reserved in advance, was not ready when I arrived in mid-afternoon, the service was excellent. Laundry service, however, is extremely overpriced and slow. Except for climbing nearby Mt. Cameroon, Buea has few tourist attractions, so this hotel is most likely to be of interest to business travellers.

A repeat visit for a three week stay in January, 2010, showed that little had changed. A computer with Internet connection had been added but was extremely unreliable.
