Hotel Morabeza.
Great location as it is right at the beach.
Rooms are basic but clean.
Sea water swimming pool (that's nice).
Breakfast buffet good. Tennis court and pool table free of charge.

This is one of the oldest and best known hotels in Sal. The hotel is in need of renovations but still retains its old charm. Rooms are a bit basic, with an unappealing decoration though comfortable.
There is a large swimming pool, a bar, but the best of the hotel is its beach and the Beach Club, the restaurant overlooking the beach. The food there is very good, though breakfast is a bit frugal.
It has many sports facilities as well as an archery camp. At night there are usually local dance performances at the hotel.
The hotel is close to the village, Santa Maria do Sal.
It was a really Italian Hotel; the owners are Italian and most of the clients too.
So it was like been in a Greek island in summer. It was a really Italian Hotel; the owners are Italian and most of the clients too. So it was like been in a Greek island in summer.
Lots of amusing programs day and night...
Live music all days one of them for traditional Cape Verde music, the others... Italian singers.
They have a good pool, the bar service a little slow but that was usual everywhere, I think that the problem is we life too fast.
They had an Italian doctor there that assists us when we got a cold very nice and for free.
The food at the restaurant was "Italian"... also but they had some good typical food.
We were prebooked and had vouchers for Santa Maria Beach Hotel and when we got there, we were bundled off to Pensao Nha Terra as the owner had over booked his hotel. He shrugged his shoulders, offered not much in a way of explanation and we had no choice of where we were going or what else we could do to resolve this. It was even more frustrating as we had to leave the lovely and friendly Morabeza Hotel on Christmas Day to end up with a bad experience with Santa Maria Beach Hotel. This could have been avoided if the owner wasn't being greedy and over booking, hoping to make a quick buck. He even admitted putting other hotel guests in his own house and said it was perfectly normal to overbook. It's a case of a hotel owner not being able to say no. Avoid this hotel, as you're not guaranteed a roof over your head even after paying for your accommodation.
At the Morabeza bar there were African dances perfomances and music at night, some of them also performed by people from Senegal. It's fun to watch it and to get the real african feel. The dancers also usually display their crafts and you can buy real nice things.

Hi,
Has anyone stayed in the Juniour suites with sea view at the Morabeza Hotel in Santa Maria
My husband and I are going 31 Jan 2008, also can you get sports massages there.
Also what is the Mistral windsurf centre like.
Any comments most welcome
Thanks!
we are going to santa maria in february and need some advice. we would like to know the prices of the usual holiday things such as the price of a beer in bars and the average cost of a meal eating out. many thanks.
Hi,
first of all: take sufficient cash money with you(EURO)!!Credit cards only in major hotels and one restaurant (as of April 07)!And there are only 2 banks with hugh crowds and as far as I remember very few ATMs which only work with local cards.
Prices: It really depends where you have your beer/meal. On the beach it is more than in "downtown" Sta. Maria. In general you can get a decent meal for around 10 Euros. Most of the times we had a meal in different places for up to 20 Euros (fresh fish, wine, deset and coffee.) In the hotel Morabeza bar there is a "happy hour" every day: Gin-Tonic at 3 Euros.
Enjoy and keep in mind: it is very windy there!
Looking to travel to Cape Verde some point next year. Wondering which island to stay on, I guess it is between Sal & Sao Vincente. Looking for beautiful beach, beautiful hotel with a pool, great restaurants. We have a daughter who would be about 5 at the time so we want things to do, but probably can't do too much.
sal is a good beach place, but only a beach place and not much else.
sao visente is not much of a beach place but culturally very interesting.
Sal is the best for a small child as it has a beach. You can have a week from £447 including flight and hotel with capeverdejetaway
Try the Morabeza on Sal - it is reasonably old but has good food and nice gardens and bars. It is currently being rebuilt and the pool is empty, but that should be right in a few months.
