Tiama: My Favorite in Abidjan
this place is much nicer than its more expensive competators in town. I have stayed in the main hotels and would pick this one. It is downtown and convient to many stores and restaurants. The rooms are plain but bright, clean and right sized. The staff is helpful. But it is the location that brings me back.

Sofitel: 2nd best in Town
It is a fine 3 star/4 star hotel. Kind of generic 1970's decor in both the public areas and the rooms. The lobby bar is a nice place to unwind. The rooms are fine. Food is OK. The hotel is right next to downtown but oddly situated right next to a highway that kind of gives it limited egress. It is EXPENSIVE for what you get. It is not a solid 4 star hotel, not to mention 5 stars.
