Grand Karavia Hotel: Unique 5* Hotel in Congo
After having stayed in Kinshasa and already expecting the worst based on my experiences there, I was blown away by the level of quality of the Grand Karavia Hotel. This hotel used to be a Sheraton but was worn down by years of neglect. After I presume a lengthy and costly refurbishment it is now reopened for business since June 2010. They offer 197 rooms, including standard rooms, luxury suites and a presidential suite which all look stunning.
The service was good, staff was friendly and well organized. The facilities have only just been refurbished and are still brand new mand in perfect condition.
I would recommend anybody to stay here as there is simply no comparison.
All rooms are airconditioned and fitted with internet connection, tea/coffee making facilities, telephones, in room safes, wall mounted LCD TV's with satellite channels. The hotel counts 4 bars, 1 à la carte/buffet restaurant, a conference center, a swimming pool and 2 tennis courts.
I have yet to experience better and more professional service in the Congo. The only downside is that they do not except VISA but that is apparently the case for all business in Lubumbashi.

BougainVilla Guesthouse: Lubumbashi's Welcoming Guesthouse
Ive travelled all over Africa. I was not very excited about finding a place to stay but arrived at the airport and was referred to a New South African Style Bed and Breakfast which opened recently. I was very happy to arrive as it felt like an oasis, driving into the lush gardens. The warm welcome just made it even better and after being shown to my room i was on cloud nine ! Beautifull rooms, dstv, wireless internet and good fresh food and service made my stay so pleasant. I can recommend BougainVilla to anybody staying over in Lubumbashi. I was told i was lucky to get a room on short notice so look at their website and book in advance.
Quiet place, lovely gardens, great service, wonderful rooms. Food fresh and homemade.

Planet Hollyboom: Planet Hollyboom
This compound tries to get all possibilities: accomodation, restaurant, shopping, night club, bar.
Located in the former theater room of Lubumbashi, the owners have transformed the place in a nice restaurant and a gues house.
It is difficult to have a room if you don't reserve far in advance.
Clean, safe.

Hotel La Rose: New Hotel
Best location for this new hotel in Lubumbashi. Not far from the Golf and city centre, this hotel offers best accomodation for short or long stays.
Hotels in Lubumbashi are very expensives but as you have to pay, it is better to go to La Rose where you have full range of service in a new place.
I am a resident of Lubumbashi but I recommend this hotel to all my visitors.

Hotel Beau Site: Hotel Beau Site
My first travels in Lubumbashi. I had to stay in this hotel. My room was on the street, on the third floor. It was very noisy and warm, even if it was the cold. dry season. Airconditionning was of course out of order.
The worse was the design of the room like a jail: WC, shower and basin directly in the room. before taking a shower, you have to carefully arrange all your belongings on the other side of the room and in height. I don't tell about going to the toilets, the perfume remains in the room for a long time. Just imagine you are living in the room with someone, you have to ask your partner to leave the room in order to use the WC!
They have two computers with internet access, but don't loose your time, I could not open my mailb ox in 30 minutes.
The garden is not bad, but it is not worth to go there only for the garden/terrasse
You don't have the choice: Lubumbashi has a lack of hotel bedrooms and it is very difficult to book a room, even weeks in advance. If you want to sleep somewhere, you will be probably obliged to accept a stay in this poor hotel, supposed to have been one of the best of the city.

Park Hotel: No hot water
Stayed one night. US$120/night no hot water. Can do better.
If you like jarring noisy local and cover music played too loud while eating dinner al fresco then well yes, it's a unique quality
