Holiday of a lifetime

by TripAdvisor Member JulieCrawley

We have just returned following a one week stay at the regency plaza. There was 4 of us in our party, one of whom was in a wheelchair. On our arrival at the hotel, we checked in where everything was ready for us. our luggage was delivered to our room and we were taken by a buggy cart to our room to make it easier for our friend. Rooms were very spacious and clean with a sea view. Staff were very helpful especially Ashraf and Mohamdy on the reception desk, Mohamed and Waled in the restaurant, Asaad and Mohamed Esmale in the lobby bar and Hisham from the entertainment team. They made our holiday very enjoyable. Building work was still going on, but we were not disturbed by this in anyway, shape or form. Food was good with something for everyone, not english food but we were not in England so I wouldn't expect there to be. We wasn't sure what to expect, as we too had read reviews before we went but I would recommend this hotel to anybody and have even booked to go back this summer with my husband. Well Done Regency Plaza, Keep up the good work.

Great Stay!!

We moved to the Regency Plaza as we did not like our original hotel. The Services of our agent in the resort - Hotels4U was brilliant.

The staff made us feel relaxed from the moment we arrived and the atmosphere in the hotel as walk through the door was great. Food was well cooked and plentyful with bags of choice. Rooms clean and with nothing too much trouble for the staff. Both the pools were clean and the beach good. My only reservation on the beach was that the snorkeling was not good but the sea was safe for children.

A good relaxing holiday was enjoyed by all.

I have just returned from an excellent week in Egypt with a group of friends. I am disabled and all the staff were extremely helpful at all times- they could not have done more for us. The room was very clean and of a high standard with a fantastic view of the beach- magic to wake up to each morning! The entertainment staff were great and did everything they could to include me in activities. The food was of a high standard and was very well presented with plenty of choice each day. The manager was extremely pleasant and made sure I had everything I needed, checking each time he saw my group that all was well. All hotel exits including those along the beach were guarded and the area felt very safe. I would have no hestiation in recommending this hotel to anyone.

THIS IS A HOTEL YOU SHOULD TRY. (Julie, Shropshire)

VERY IMPRESSED! I WILL BE GOING BACK!!
I have been on holiday to Egypt several times to various hotels - I must admit I was concerned after reading some of the reviews on this site. All fears were irradicated very quickly on arrival. The Rooms were very good, The Hotel and all facilities are remarkably CLEAN, Well Staffed and run with efficiency. The location is superb. The Beach area and Pools were great, Cleanest swimming pools I've seen in any country and I have travelled extensively worldwide. The Food was good, well cooked and hot unless you arrived in the last 1/2 hour of lunch/dinner, when it was warm+ which on a buffet is to be expected. The choice of salads, breads, pastries and deserts was extensive and beautifully presented. Yes the food in part has an Egyptian feel to it and of course we are in a Muslim country so there is no Bacon, but the breakfast's were well catrered for, just minus the English "fry up" . The Fish Market, does fresh fish along with Pizza, Burger, Hot Dogs, and French Fries, and again the standard and presentation was very Good.
THE STAFF. Polite, helpful, could'nt do enough for you. Abda Ali, Bar and Fish market, was exceptional, as were all the Reception Staff, Especially Mohammed who even gave me my first lesson in Egyptian. Even the Animation team are good, my past experience has been that animation are annoying and pushy , But these guys did there job well without being "in your face".
DRINK - The local spirits in Egypt are different but by day 2 you do get used to them and they are O.K. Even the Red wine served with meals was smooth and well drinkable. The Soft drinks were served Ice cold, and for the first time in my experience I got Ice whenever I asked for it. The guys at the bar make a superb fruit cocktail with either Rum or Vodka that is well worth a try and is "All Inclusive".
THE ROOMS: Large, well appointed, great views, clean bedding daily, spotless bathrooms, and the maid service was second to none.
ENTERTAINMENT - Suitable for all ages, and reasonably good. The Animation shows were professional, The Terrace singer had a good range of songs which were well performed . The Disco was excellent, Full, every night, good quality sound system and a good range of music. This is the first time I've seen a disco in an Egyptian hotel with more that 15 people in it. And that was all down to the quality of the Music. And it was'nt full of teenagers, it was full of 20 - 80 year olds, having a great time.
WHAT I WOULD CHANGE - Not a lot!!! I'd like a couple more restaurants, (although an Italian is due summer 2007)and I would allow all inclusive till clients left the hotel.
OVERVIEW - This is a well appointed, well serviced establishment, Just the right size to ensure good personal service. Keep up the good work. I was especially impressed that the hotel management was "hands on" constantly available, communicating with guests and of course staff, ensuring the hotel ran as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Thanks for a great holiday.

Make your own mind up !!

I have just come back from this hotel, we booked it at very short notice and so was willing to give it a go despite the bad reviews.

The hotel is very clean, the rooms are well kept and of a 4 star standard. I was disapointed that there was only one main resturant, the resturant on the beach was at an extra charge and as it was a fish resturant was not going to dare to rsk it (we were really poorly but will move on to that . . .) felt that for an all inclusive most things were at an 'extra charge'.

We were ill for 4 days out of our week holiday, terrible sickness and tummy upsets, reps wouldn't acknowledge the problem but spoke to about 5 or 6 people who had been really really ill, 3 people even been bed bound and on drips.

I saw that cups wern't washed properly, only rised in tapwater and the served to the next customer, not good when so many people were ill.

Lots of entertainment, it all started at 10pm so quite late if you have kids, the night club opened at 10 till 2 and is open air, this is really noisy and can be heard round hotel, lots of activites in the day, lots of danding round the pool/loud music, a bit like a hi di hi holiday camp.

Beach was good, relaxed and quiet, very clean and excellent for children. Camel and pony rides were also available.

I would say if your after a cheap holiday and your young, don't mind the noise and are willing to risk it then go for it, not everyone was ill, some people have given it good reviews, for the money it s probably worth it, but if you have kids or are looking for relaxing holiday then stay well clear.

Staff were lovely, helpful and not too pushy. The hotel is only 8 months old so bound to be improving all the time.
