I really enjoyed staying at this hotel, i booked it at Thomson before i started working there & had heard lots of good reports about it. It has a fabulous beachfront location & is in the centre of Naama Bay, where all the action is, restaurants, clubs, bars, shops, watersports etc you name it you can never get bored here. Theres always something to do & many places to see. We got a warm welcome at this hotel, all the staff we very friendly & we got to know the Shisha man at this hotel, there is a gorgeous open rooftop where you can smoke Shisha & watch the sunset over Sharm with a ice cold beer.
The pools at Sonesta is fantastic, theres plenty of space to chill out around the pool area & there is plenty of sunbeds for all the guests...but you do need to get out early if you want a good seat for the day. There are plenty of places to eat at Sonesta, theres the Red Square restaurant which serves Russian Cuisine. I enjoyed the Beef Stroganoff here & the prices were good too. There is also an A La Carte Restaurant which serves Italian food & they play live music too which is relaxing. Then there is the main buffet lounge which serves buffet food at night & there is live entertainment. You can go halfboard at this hotel but i prefer to go bed & breakfast as eating out is cheap & there is lots to choose from. | | | | Creative Grand Sharm Resort: Great hotel with best house reef | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
This hotel is a 3star hotel with 5 star people running it! It has an excellent pool with a very good pool bar with great cheap meals. It has a disco/bar entertainment room for the evenings, massage, diving, shisha tent, bank, shops, buffet restaurant. Its just excellent and I would recommend it to anyone! The House reef here in my opinion was better than Ras mohammed, its just the best!
The staff here are the oustanding feature of this hotel, we got to know them all by name and them us. They were excellent and could not do enough for us. The food was fab, and the shop was reasonably priced too. The views were great , we had pool and sea views. If you go onto the roof, (hotel only has 2 floors) the view is wonderful. | | | | Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh: Regency Club Compare Rates NEW! | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
The Regency Club at the Hyatt is a 'hotel within a hotel'. The upgrade form the basic siew VIEW room is an extra $60 per room per night based on the rack rate. As we already had a sea FRONT room booked, the upgrade was only $20 extra per room per night. So, for £150 extra for 11 nights, we received the following benefits: Private check-in & Concierge Overall better and more personal service Complimentary soft drinks throughout the day which was handy as we were going through about 3 litres a day each (occasional pool drinks waiter service too). Complimentary alcoholic drinks and yummy canapes between 5.30-7.30pm on the Regency terrace. You basically help yourself to a huge range of meats, cheese, breads, sometimes sushi, seafood bites, satay chicken, fresh fruit, breadsticks, crostini, mini tartlets, honey glazed chicken bites - the list goes on and the canapes change daily. Free daily newspaper Twice daily maid service Use of private pool/whirlpool for Regency guests only - the design of which rivals the other pools and is much quieter. Games room Free internet access in the games room Private beach. Complimenary continental breakfast, including the most delcious pastries and doughnuts! There are more photos in my 'Regency' travelogue.
The personal service you receive from Regency Club alone is worth the extra in my opinion, and if I returned to this hotel I would definately upgrade again. Everything is "with pleasure maam". I will admit, sometimes it seems a bit put on from the less experienced staff, (who are still very good) and so the experience itself can be humbling. The staff treat you like Royalty and insisit on not let you lift a finger (even when I tried!). We made absolutely sure that they knew how appreciative we were for the way they acted towards us, and chatting with many of them at length. We have stayed at some nice hotels, but like in the Maldives, the service was exceptional. Mohammed and Ahmed on the Regency front desk are excellent and very professional, and are a pleasure to have met. Like I have said previously, if you're not a sucker for these extra little things (like I am!) then there is no need to upgrade - the rest of the resort is still wonderful. I'd even say that you are better off in the normal hotel section if you have young children. There were a few children running riot around the pool in the Regency Club whose parents seemed to be on strike while on holiday; children being children does not bother anyone I hope, but the lack of parenting raised a few eyebrows with most of the guests at Regency Club quite rightly with this particular family....it's definately better for couples or families with older children as the focus is on peace and tranquility. Overall, the Regency Club turned what would have been for us a "pretty good holiday" into a "very good holiday" and I recommend the upgrade if those special touches are important to you. | | | | Crowne Plaza Sharm El Sheikh: Reef-side Sharm Hotel Compare Rates NEW! | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
We booked this hotel at the last minute and without recommendation so we didn't know what to expect when we got there. We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is large and covers a rather vast area which gives a feeling of great space. However, there are hundreds of steps throughout the complex, which makes it difficult for even the fit in the searing heat. There are five pools. Most people seem to gather at the beach pool which has spectacular views. The downside is that it gets very crowded and the music which is played for about two hours both morning and afternoon can be far too loud. All of the restaurants listed on the Hotel's website were not open and for dinner we were really limited to the buffet in the main dining room or the Italian restaurant. This got rather tiresome in the second week. There's also a beach barbecue but as this was the main venu for lunch we were not inclined to revisit it for dinner. There's a great feeling of fun throughout the resort, and there's something happening all the time. Standards are high and the overall feeling is of comfort, relaxation, and enjoyment. I would say that in reality the hotel looks even better than it appears on its website. I cannot see where I can upload a pic here..... We would return.
The staff are incredible - friendly, helpful, and not a bit cloying. The jetty over the Far Gardens coral reef is amazing - you can stand there up to your knees in water and watch spectacularly coloured fish swim around you. Watch it though - the nip you if you stay still too long! There's also a very good selection of gift shops both in the hotel lobby and in the rather unique street-style bazaar within the hotel grounds. | | | | Amar Sina Resort: Different Kind of Place | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
This place I would describe as "different" to the other brand name hotels in Sharm. Its built in a traditional egyptian style in a half moon shape, hence the name Amar Sina. The hotel is situated in the "Hadaba" area of Sharm about 5k from Naama Bay. "Hadaba" means "The Top", as its situated on a mountain area close to the mountains and desert. Its costs around 20LE to get a cab downtown to Naama Bay or to Old Sharm. Fix a price before you get in cab, some drivers will try to take the ***, but on the whole its an easy experience. Dont go here if you are expecting similar to the Sheraton or Marriot type hotels because you wont get it, but this is not to say its a bad thing. The hotel is in four quarters, each in a slightly different style, with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Its a very relaxed place for singles, couples or families. Everyone I spoke to here of all different nationalities seemed most happy with their experience. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful and make you feel right at home. Food is ok, served in the evening in a buffet style, plentiful and tasty. Most evenings its set out near the pool and you can have a nice table, eat your food and enjoy the ambience. I would so however, some might find it a bit samey as its mainly arabic style dishes, but to me it was heaven. On a sunday evening they have a big barbeque in another area behind the pool, with a large stage with dancing and entertainment. If you want to try something different for the usual tower block hotels then this is indeed for you.
The rooms are in a traditional bedouin or nubian style, mine was beautiful with 2 domes in the ceiling with coloured glass. Lovely windows with shutters and again coloured glass. My room had a very high ceiling and looked on to a beautiful view of the pool. It was furnished in a very simple but comfortable way and the housekeepin did a very good job with cleaning etc. I must also say that my bed was enormous, big enough for 5 people at least There is also a mini farm attached to the back of the hotel, where there are chickens, goats and other animals. I didnt get disturbed by any noise from this so dont worry. I think children would be especially enthralled with this aspect of the hotel but I loved it too. There was a very nice pool and little spa. It was well kept and a small bar was attached where you can enjoy drinks or just lie on the sunbeds. Although I didnt check this out I understand you could go on a little bus to a beach area owned by the hotel free of charge. I believe this hotel owner is a architect and it really shows with the character of the design. I was told he came to Sharm as he was suffering a terminal illness, but made a spectacular recovery and in homage to Sharm and its magical qualities, he built Amar Sina. It was a very unique kind of place and although I usually book 5 star accomodation I would certainly return here. | | | | Tropitel Naama Bay, aka Naama Bay Hotel: Ok hotel in the centre of Naama Bay | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
Naama Bay Hotel is a quite large hotel right in the centre of Naama Bay. The hotel has almost 200 guest rooms plus 16 suites, non-smoking rooms are available. The hotel claims to be "5-star" - but I had read several reviews and didn't expect this to be very accurate - so I wasn't too disappointed... ;o) Our twin room was nice enough, quite big but impersonal - nothing here to tell you're in Egypt. The bathroom seemed very dated, and in need of some renovation - and our room didn't appear too clean. All the rooms have a little veranda with two chairs and a tiny table - no sun on the veranda though. You get a safe, a tv with various satellite channels - and an empty minibar which you can use as a fridge if you choose to ignore the hotel's pretty strict "no outside food or drinks" - policy... ;o) The security guards at the hotel entrance (complete with metal detector) aren't too friendly, but unless you're carrying a take-away pizza or hauling big bags of groceries into the hotel, they usually won't stop you... :o) The main pool isn't very big, and the number of sun loungers available by the pool isn't very impressive - and half the pool is in the shade for most of the day. The hotel has a *small* strip of Naama Bay beach - but the area Naama Bay Hotel occupies is *seriously* overcrowded (see photo!), and even so there aren't enough sun loungers for all the guests. While walking along the beach promenade in Naama Bay we noticed that most hotels have *way* better (and far less crowded) beach areas than Naama Bay Hotel, so if you intend to spend much time at the hotel beach or by the pool, I'd definitely choose another hotel. Naama Bay Hotel is right in the centre of Naama Bay, so if you stay here you're close to loads of shops, restaurants, cafés and bars - but if you want to spend your holiday on the beach this hotel will be a very poor choice. Most importantly: don't expect a 5-star hotel! (I'd say it's more a 3 - maybe 4 on a good day;o)
The hotel has an internet café (where you can get your daily dose of VT;o) - and if you bring your laptop, wireless internet is available in parts of the hotel (mainly on the first and second floors) - if you need wireless internet make sure to say so when you check in. The wireless connection is not great though, in our room it only worked outside on the veranda, and the speed was so-so...;o) Cost for wireless was 20 Egyptian pounds / hour, or 50 / day. The breakfast buffet was great, and *that* was the only part of the hotel I'd consider to be 5-star: lots and lots to choose from, and it was all simply delicious. | | | | Savoy Hotel: Winter Wonderland | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
We arrived on December 29th and as our car approached the hotel we were immediately swept into a magical Winter wonderland. The driveway was lined with red poinsettias, the hotel was bedecked with twinkling white Christmas lights, and a huge tree graced the pristine marble lobby. Checkin was immediate, and we were greeted with cooling drinks and a pretty female Santa Clause serving tiny biscuits. Our room was comfortably furnished. In my opinion the best part of the room was the very large balcony which was more than well furnished with a table, two wicker chairs and a large sofa, all with cushions. We had a room in the Rose wing with a spectacular view of the pools and the sea. There are five restaurants in this hotel, and all were open every day. In addition to this several of the bars also serve food, and all food was delicious and well presented. There are a number of bars and a disco which stays open till 4am. The hotel boasts 3 main pools, plus 2 in the Royal Savoy section, and a private pool for each of the hotels villas. The middle main pool became very crowded and this could be unpleasant. There is also a good stretch of private beach and a jetty stretching out over the coral where the multicoloured fish swim around you in every direction. Naturally the hotel boasts its own diving school and a wealth of other activities. There is a full animation team with a wide range of activities, and great attention is given to children at the kids club. The downside for me was that the shower is in the bath, with one of those nasty plastic curtains that cling to your skin when you shower. In my opinion all 5 star hotels should have seperate showers and baths!!
The one thing that makes this hotel stand out above others is its staff. They are friendly and helpful beyond the norm and this was perhaps the outstanding feature that will bring us back to this hotel again and again. | | | | Iberotel Palace: Iberotel Palace in Old Sharm | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
The Iberotel Palace is located in Old Sharm, it is a huge complex, two stories high with 4 wings. You can eat in the main restaurant (Buffet) see picture, or in the italian restaurant also on the area. The rooms are clean, the service friendly. If you want to have a place in the shadow in the beach, you must have to get up early enough. If you are reserving a place, do it only with the towels that are provided at the beach, else they will take your things away.
The beach is clean, but if you want to see some corals, you have to take the boat (or walk) to the public beach (10 minutes wasy). There is also a pool and an inside pool (heated) and you can have massages (yes, this costs extra). There are some shops included in the hotel and on the second floor there is also a bank and an internet cafe.
