Taxi Tip For Sharm

This may be a generalization, but this is what happened to me. First up, everyone else on this site tells you to negotiate upfront. They are right!!! Taxi drivers will rush you for anything they think they can get. My trip was from the airport to the Domina Resort. First mistake I made was to get in the car and only start haggling while he drove. Finalise the price before you get in. My driver started me at Euro 40, then $40, and I eventually knocked him down to $20. I still got ripped, but after a 5 hour delay for my flight and getting in at 05:00, I wasn’t haggling too hard. However, I only got him down to $20 when I started to get out the car while it was slowing at the exit.
If you stay at the Domina, and want to go out, get a cab from the hotel. It’s much cheaper than getting one from the road. Also, they’ll charge you a standard 20-25 Egyptian pounds.

Thanks for your replies. As my budget was tight I have booked the cheapest "5* deal" - the DOMINA CORAL BAY AQUAMARINE POOL, on Half-Board. I realise that I will not expect the standard of the "real" 5* hotels but can anybody give me any reports from there.
I have heard it is 80% Italian? Not a problem as long as we don't feel outlawed! Are there any English speakers staying there? Can anyone tell me if the half-board option is able to be taken at lunch-time rather than us being tied to the hotel in the evening. As it only worked out at £3.30 per head I thought it was worth filling up on.
Is there a shuttle bus or public transport bus into Naama Bay in the evening and is there anywhere to go for food/entertainment within walking distance of the hotel. Would be very grateful for any information relating to this hotel. Thanks.

I don't think its going to be a big problem for you, I'm going there for a week on 1/5 and I'm definately english! The hotel website looks superb, http://www.dominacoralbay.com, so I wouldn't worry!

Hi I'm planning to go to Domina Gardinia resort in Shark Bay from 10 Nov 2006 can anyone tell me wherter it's a good Hotel or not, The Beach condition wherther it's good ? i'm planning to go by car from Cairo
about the hotel is the rooms are clean or not ? do they a clean pool ?
