Sharm El Sheikh!
by Plookie
My first impression of Sharm El Sheikh was....will I be safe here? By the looks of it when I exited the Sharm El Sheikh airport.....YES! I felt safe seeing the armed military posted right outside the airport doors. This was the first time I have seen something of this caliber, and given whats been happening in the neighboring countries, I am sure the Egyptians wants to keep their country as safe and comfortable for their tourists.
During my stay in SES, I got to relax by the Red Sea, meet some interesting people from SES / Naima Bay and abroad, network, network, network!.
In Naima Bay, I probably had one of my best conversation I have ever had in my life. I took a taxi to Naima Bay alone and stopped by a shop I was in earlier that week. I sat and talked with Kamel a store manager drinking tea, and talked about everything from Egypt to Europeans to Americans to the troubles in the Middle East. I was amazed how Kamel felt toward americans even though I am an american, his hatred was directed toward our american government and not the people of the US. When I go back to SES I hope to meet up with Kamel again and just talk.
The resort I was staying was great as well....Coral Bay Resort made my stay a pleasurable one, though our band (Lament) had to perform just one concert, we enjoyed our stay by doing various activities.
I hung out with the Italians most every night, who were throwing parties every night! Let me tell you, The Italians can throw a party. Everybody was enjoying every one. The atmosphere was electric, and the Italians made everyone felt at home, it was like every body was one!
Enjoy your afternoon soaking up the sun or like me, up under an umbella. Let yourself go!
The staff at Coral Bay made you feel very comfortable with every step. They would get to know you and when out amongst the crowd of Coral Bay while walking you can hear them calling your name. It was a great feeling!
I got to meet alot of Egyptians while on my stay in Egypt, some I had the pleasure of jamming with on percussions.
Though it may seem that the Egyptians just want to make a dollar, they are also genuine. They really want to know about you, and tell you their stories as well.
