Cairo:
To live like a king, go to the Four Seasons Cairo at the First Residence.
To stay away from the city centre and be near the pyramids, try the Sheraton Royal Gardens.
Sharm el Sheikh:
The newly opened Four Seasons Sharm el Sheikh has very nice surroundings.
Luxor:
The Old Winter Palace is a historical, deluxe hotel near the temple of Luxor.
The Sheraton Luxor has a good view of the Nile and Valley of the Kings across the Nile.
Aswan:
Try the historical Old Cataract Aswan, many celebrities have stayed at the hotel.
Cairo:
Four Seasons Cairo- US210++ (Superior room with balcony facing the pyramids and the zoo)
Sheraton Royal Gardens- US60++ (Classic Room)
Sharm el Sheikh:
Four Seasons Resort- US138 (Premier Room at opening rate)
Luxor:
Sheraton- US60 (classic room)
Old Winter Palace- US200++ (standard room)
Aswan:
Old Cataract- US120 (standard room) Cairo:
Four Seasons Cairo- Undoubtedly the best hotel in Egypt, elegant settings, personal service, only guests of the hotel or restaurants are allowed in the hotel. Rooms either have Nile view or better still, views of the pyramids and the Giza Zoo.
Sheraton Royal Gardens- all rooms have spacious balconies with view of the nice swimming pools of the hotel.
Sharm el Sheikh:
Four Seasons Resort- Pristine beach with coral reefs and colourful fish, nice surroundings and landscaped gardens with a funicular railway linking the beach to the hotel lobby.
Luxor:
Sheraton- nice selection of restaurants, nice view of the River Nile.
Old Winter Palace- deluxe, historical setting, however, service is not up to the standard expected from a grand hotel like the Old Winter Palace.
Aswan:
Old Cataract- the 1902 restaurant is elegant, watching sunset at the Tea Terrace (pictured) is a romantic experience. However, the rooms are not as nice as the general areas of the hotel and the services of the reception and concierge are sub-standard.

Lodging in Sharm El Sheik is fairly expensive compared to places further north on the Sinai Peninsula. But it seems that the standard is most over good. Our hotel was booked from back home. It had all the pleasures you could think of - great food, a big pool, sauna, gym, you name it. The place is not what you would call a backpacker place. You have most of the comforts from home

Finding a suitable accommodation in Egypt is a walk in the park. There is a huge variety of hotels in all tourist attractions, from 2 stars to 5 stars, as well as the enfamous Nile Cruise, that takes you down the Nile all the way to upper Egypt. It is an unforgettable experience.

In Kairo we stayed in Sheraton which is built on the island on the nile. It was the best hotel among all the places we have stayed in Egypt. You should be aware of the star system in Egypt. Expect to get 1-2 star less quality than what it says. Some 5 stars in Egypt were like 3 star hotels in Istanbul.
Meridian hotel is an exceptional one. When you wake up in the morning you will be amazed the pyramids are at your front yard.

In Cairo, and I guess in the all Egypt, it's better not to mind to spend something more for the accommodation. I slept in a 4 stars hotel and it wasn't in the average..... except for the price obviously.
Cheap accomodation in the center of Cairo

Nothing special about this place except that it's cheap and only a 5 minute walk from the Egypt Museum. The staff at the hotel can arrange a variety of tours and transportation.
Sharm el Sheik - diving

"Sharm el Sheik August 2003"
We had some fantastic days in Sharm el Sheik, Naama Bay.
We was diving and snorkelling most of the time. But we also took a bus trip to Cairo! It was great!
"Desert...."
Sharm el Sheik is not so far from the Sinai Desert.
The mountains is beautiful when the sun is about to go down....

"Diving in the Red Sea"
Sharm el Sheik is the perfect diving destination.
Most people stay at the big hotels in Naama Bay. But there are also some hotel complexes located right outside Naama Bay.
It is always sunny and hot, of what I have heard they only got 1 rainy day a year. So if you want to go somewhere without rain, this is the perfect destination.
Just remember. It can get really hot here. During summer, June, July and August the temprature during daytime can reach more than 40 degrees celsius.
The coral reefs outside Sharm el Sheik is impressing! Crystal clear water, and a lot of colorful fishes.
And if you are lucky it is even possible to get a glimpse of a shark or whaleshark if you visit during the right season.

"Sharm El Sheik"
Basicly went for a short cheap holiday and just to get a break. Egypt has a lot of history but you wont find it in at this location. Most hotels are self contained usualy over 10-25 acres and all restaurants, bars etc are on site. Food was geared to the English taste and no chance of local food in the holiday village I went. Whilst I enjoyed the relaxation and good weather for one week another week would have bored me silly.

"Coral sea reefs"
Interact with the fish and taste the salty sea water.
"Red Sea coral reefs at hand..."
Transparent water with colorful fish to entertain you all day long...
"The other side of the beach"
Not really sand; more like pebbles but you can manage to get into the water.

Mosques in Sharm el Sheik
by bluejaxx
Are there any mosques in or around sharm el sheik to visit? I will be vacationing there in October and would like to visit one.
Re: Mosques in Sharm el Sheik

There are mosques all over Egypt, even deep down in the desert. Sharm has several.

I'm not really sure you'll be allowed to visit a mosque in Sharm, except if you tell them that you live in Egypt or study Arabic. They are usually very wary of Western tourists. In any case, if you try your luck, make sure to come dress decently (no shorts).
Anyway, the beautiful mosques are all in Cairo, and these can be visited easily as an individual travellers.
