We didn't try the top main restaurant for an evening meal but did enjoy a lesuirely breakfast there. The staff were very attentive with my coffee cup being kept full at all times (very important to me).
In the evenings we ate at one of the 3 a la carte restaurants and all of them were very good. There is a lebanese restaurant outside by the pool which serves great food but the prawns are a little pricey, but the lebanese food was superb and very well priced. The italian is nice but the best for us was the Latinos bar. The main barman was Ezzet who not only was attentive but kept people entertained with various little tricks. The menu in there whilst limited was good.
With the hotel being split the pool in the upper half is reserved for a quiet atmosphere with a swim up bar for lunch. Again very attentive and friendly staff.
The lower pools (3) are much more for the active types and speaking italian would be a disticnt advantage as a lot of the all inclusive guests come from there so it is centred round them.
There is also a cafe set on an island in the middle of the pool although not a swim up you can walk across the bridge and enjoy a nice lunch.
If you want to venture out then there are supermarkets (turn right out of hotel gates) a short walk away. There is also what looks like Ali Baba's palace over the road but we avoided what looked like a tourist trap.
Taxi's are cheap and plentiful in Egypt and their habit of honking at you can get a bit wearing. It's about LE15 to Sharm (£1.50) and LE 25 (£2.50) to Nama Bay. Don't forget to pre-agree your price before hand.
Nama Bay is all bright lights and noise with a multitude of restaurants ranging from Hard Rock Cafe through to rooftop Lebanese.
Overall if you are looking for a hotel where you can chill out for a week and have a reasonably varied eating menu then would recommend a week here.
The hotel is set into the side of a slope with the main hotel & reception at the top, rooms down the slope and at the bottom 3 pools and the beach. These are all served by a funicular (a kind of sloping lift)
The rooms are very well appointed with a sitting area as well as a balcony and all have a sea view. We had a room half way down and from talking to others this seemed to be a prime position as it avoided the noise at both ends.
In the hotel there is a bank but if you want to use your ATM card, then it's a bit of hike (out of hotel right and then left and ages down the road). Would probally be easier to use the ATMs when you are out and about.
I realized I had made the right choice of accomodation as soon as I walked into the lobby. It was light and airy and very welcoming.
The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and shampoo contitioner and body lotion are replaced daily or as they are used.
Practically all rooms have a sea view and air conditioning is operational throughout the premises.
The room boys work endlessly to make everything perfect. I had a different design made from towels every day for a fortnight. From swans to flowers to hearts - each day was a rich experience in their dedication just to ensure a pleasant stay for all. Fawzy, our senior housekeeper was fantastic and always visited us each day to ensure our holiday was as fabulous as possible.
You dont need to raise a finger at the Hilton, their aim to to serve you. They reminded me of this every time I tried to pour a drink!
The jetty on the main beach provides a good view of marine life for those who cannot swim.
Hotel staff are polite and friendly and always eager to please.
Many tour operators use the hotel making excursions an uncomplicated process.
Security at the Waterfalls is definitely a plus point, you must walk through a metal detector to gain access.
Directions: The hotel is located at El Fanar road, about 5 minutes walk from the old lighthouse and the Renaissance Hotel. Naama bay and Old Sharm town are about 5 minutes in a taxi.
Agree with all the other comments. This hotel was wonderful, immaculatly kept grounds, pools and services. Standard of room (1102) at the bottom by the main pool area superb. Staff excellent, always smiling and helpful. Food generally good but highly recommend the Fish restaurant at the bottom of the hotel overlooking the sea. Number of tips..... the local supermarket is much cheaper than the minibar, so go there for water soft drinks crisps and small gifts. They also sell snorkling gear much cheaper than in the hotel. Across the road on the next junction by what looks like Brighton Pavillion !!! there is a off-licence. Wine here was 1/3rd of the price in the hotel at £5 a bottle. Most of the gifts are tat in the shops and serious hassle. We took a days snorkling with Ocean explorers who have an office in the hotel at the bottom of the complex. This was a really good day out with excellent stopping places, lunch and drinks thrown in. The hotel when we were there was full of Russian and Eastern Europeans who were at times boorish and rude to everyone espcially the staff and towels reserving sunbeds started going out at 6am!!! The sun goes down after 3.30/4pm so get up early to grab your best spot. The little beaches were always very full by 8am. The bottom pool area had good staff and an excellent island cafe. I would highly recommend the Waterfalls for a relaxing chill out holiday. Be warned the airport departure lounge is cramped very full and expensive. Its being replaced but when...??
Since our trip was arranged by a travel company in Norway, we stayed at Hilton Waterfalls for a week. This hotel is a luxury 5-star hotel (I think), with great staff and close to beach/town. We stayed in the apartments, not the hotel-rooms. With so many swimmingpools you almost have a private one to each room, this is great if you do not want to share space with kids and/or other distractions.
I think it is very expencive if you have not booked through a travel company, as they bargain a lot on the fixed prices.
Would definitely stay here again, but as I said this is probably not a budget hotel compared to those downtown.
There are about five Hilton hotels in Sharm El Sheikh alone and each one of them apparently lives up to Hilton standards. I picked the Hilton Sharm Waterfalls Resort just based on the photos I saw and because it lies on the Red Sea. Finding the hotel was extremely difficult but now after driving around Sharm El Sheikh, I can get there with my eyes closed.
The hotel does not allow its visitors to use the parking lot, oddly enough. All cars must park in a dirt lot next to the hotel which is not always guarded, but I was relieved to see that nothing happened to my car even with my Israeli license plates.
All in all I had an excellent time at this hotel and would definently recommend it to others.
The pools at the hotel are excellent and hae lots of space though it is difficult to find a place next to the pool unless you go down right after breakfast. The beach is more of a cliff so you can't sit directly on the beach. The rooms were very nice and all seem to have balconies facing the water. The staff are friendly and I had not a single problem during my stay.
One of the choices on our Latvian package tour, the Waterfalls is outside of the main hotel "ghetto" of Naama Bay. Quiet, child friendly, with beautiful view of the Red Sea
6 pools, a funicular joining the main lobby with the other room wings and the pool area, a small beach with reef access, good Lebanese restaurant, and very pleasant staff
Very baeutifull hotel built on a hill with the reception/foyer/restaurants at the top. The rooms are all spread down the hillside and a waterfall runs down between them. There is a fenicular railway/elevator that runs up and down the hillside which is very cool.
There are three different pool areas. The bottom pool is big and is where the kids pools are and where most activities take place so it is quite active. The top pool is a lot more chilled out and has a bar/snack bar that you can swim up to. There is another pool at the front of the hotel beside the tennis courts and gym/spa. The hotel has its own beaches and a reef too. There is a floating pier out to the reef and you can jump in and go snorkelling. It is really amazing how much life there is even at a hotel reef. I saw lion fish, puffers, baracuda, tuna, parrot fish and lots more! There is a really good italian restaurant in the main foyer, along with a lebanese and the main buffet restaurant. Prices are very good considering its a 5 star hotel. You can get a pizza and a drink from the pool bar for 40LE (£4)! And the restaurants, room service and mini bar are just as reasonable... superb!
Directions: El Fanar Street. About 10 mins drive from Nama Bay. 40LE taxi ride (£4). There is also a shuttle bus from the hotel ever hour which is 6LE (60p) each way.
