    Five stars well deserved

As far as we could tell, the Naama Bay Hotel is not owned by a chain and is independent. It is a five star hotel and this is reflected in the building, its facilities and its staff who were absolutely brilliant. The hotel is right in the middle of Naama Bay itself and is very well located for all the bars, shops and restaurants that Naama Bay offers. It's beach is a short five minute walk from the hotel and is small and always busy. You can, however walk along the beach or the promenade and use one of the other hotels beaches if you buy a drink from their bar. There is a main pool and health club just throught the lobby, but we preferred the four pools up the hill at the back of the resort which were a lot quieter. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. It has stuff for kids to do and couples will find it easy to find romantic hideaways. The food is good although we're no experts as we only ate breakfast at the hotel.

Unique Quality: The staff are superb. They will do anything for you to make your stay a good one. the reception guys were very helpful in helping us organise our excursions. Our pool and bar guys were always friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Our house keeping guy was the smiliest person in Egypt and got a mega tip at the end of the fortnight as a result.

Directions: Right in the centre of Naama Bay. Take a left of Peace Road past the Ocean Bay Hotel.

    Central Naa'ma Bay

This is a quite new hotel, only 2 years old. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Naama Bay.

Its opposite the new Naama Shopping centre and approx 200 metres from the private hotel beach.

The rooms are spacious and decorated in a modern style. I would say its 4 star accomodation.

    Staff are helpful and friendly

Unique Quality: Facilites are good, food is ok. We had bed & breakfast which is more than adequate as there are so many fabulous places to eat.

Its the second time I have stayed there and would probably do so again due to the location.

The pool is quite large, but I prefer the beach as it can get quite busy.

I was lucky enough to have a nice big room with sea view on the top floor. All the facilities are high by european standards.

UPDATE JANUARY 2004 *** This hotel has recently had an annexe built into a mountain in naama bay and been extended in a massive way.

A whole new series of apartment villa style accomodation has been erected and must say its more than impressive. The manager of the hotel, Mr Mohamed Fadel took Sarah and I on a tour of the new construction and we couldnt believe our eyes.

You have to travel to the site up a mountain by golf buggy. The landscape and architecture are of an amazingly high standard.

There are some free standing villas of a real luxury standard and also some blocks of 12 rooms. I would definately stay here on my next visit in August 2004. Here there is a private pool and bar area for residents here, seperate from the main hotel.

Some of the villas are independantly owned by various Saudi Princes and other high rollers. If you get the chance to be a guest at this hotel, ask them to move you the annexe its the nutz!!

    Directions: In Central Naama Bay

Fantastic Hotel!

by rachel_sarah about Hotel Fantasia

The hotel Fantasia was located at the quieter end of Naama Bay, and it was the ideal location. Set back at the end of the bay, it had its own private beach and the best coral reefs we snorkelled in in the whole of Naama Bay. The hotel was lovely, always clean and the staff always wanting to help, making you feel special throughout your stay. We were given clean towels daily, and our rooms were always in immaculate condition. The pool was huge, and whilst we were there it was never busy and always nice and relaxing. There was a hotel bar and restaraunt, which to be honest didnt serve the best of food, but we were never in to eat there anyway due to the huge selection throughtout Naama Bay!

A good deal in Sharm

by ct-bound about Shark's Bay Bedouin Home & Dive Club

When I was in Sharm recently, I stayed at Shark's Bay (I think it was considered to be in Naama Bay). Having its own nice beach, there is a house reef to snorkel or dive, just steps from the sand at the beach. With a couple general stores, a handful of restaurants (all with the exact same menu!), and some touristy shops, it's got pretty much all you'll need. We liked the Pizza place down by the dive shop at Shark's Bay the best for food and service (although pretty much everything comes with 'chips')!

For Sharm, apparently it's a pretty good deal, 35 EU per night for a double air conditioned room, including breakfast. You can actually stay for about half that amount, if you're willing to forego the A/C and share a bathroom.

Thatched Huts

by travelinxs

Accomodation throughout Egypt varies enormously as can be expected. Despite being once tempted to stay at the Old Cataract in Aswan, I declined as at the time the $500 a night Agatha Christie suit was booked up. Other than that I have only once paid more than £5 / $7.50 for a night and that was a hut at Naama Bay which was part of a hotel complex. It was nearly £20 a night and an extream extravagance.

Be warned; some of the cesspits in Cairo really are cesspits, stinking of cats p*** and over-run with rats. The best I found was the Everest Hotel on Ramsis Square, next to the railway station.

Expect to pay around £7.50 / $10 for a basic but clean room.

Hotel for diving with mr. Diver

by helen_verheul about Sharm El Sheikh Marriott Resort

It's a nice, clean hotel with excellent breakfast and dinner buffet, with dive school mr. Diver as a neighbour. And a Starbucks a couple houses over, because the coffee in the hotel is the one thing that's not up to par. This offcourse knowing that cocktails are always without alcohol, even the ones with alcohol ;-) It's very quiet as it's a 10 minute walk to Naama bay city centre. It has an nice beach and plenty of pools.
There isn't much to do for children, but the neighbouring hotels have enough playgrounds to make up for this.

" Naama Bay"

We were very scared going on this holiday, we were just 2 blonde girls all on our own, and we had booked it off, so were rather apprehensive about accomodation! But it all worked out great, we didnt get mugged/raped/stolen and we got great value for money. Obviously if you are looking for the traditional egyptian experience, do not come here, as sharm is just like any europea beach holiday resort. We got the best of both and flew to cairo for the day to see the capital.
Our tour guides and reps were brilliant, even if they all wanted to marry us. We had an excellent time, i would recommend going in january as it was already quite hot.

" beautiful sea"

t the sea and the views were beautiful, snorkelling is definately recommended. sharm consists of 3 bays and all seemed pretty lively. naama had everything we needed, western restaurants, traditional cuisine, large bars and loads of shops. if you only had the 'sharm visa' you would have had enough to do for a week without leaving.

"naama bay"

it seemed to be the heart of sharm el sheikh. i was amazed at the atmosphere - on the surface it was strangely european, everyone walking around in western dress. but when you go beneath the surface i began to ask questions - why are there hardly any egyptian women sitting in the cafes? why are all the waiters, shopkeepers, street sellers men? the egyptian women we did see were in the sea in full islamic dress.

but for us its as free and easy as spain. sharm el sheik is created for western tourists, so theres no problem with bikinis and a glass of wine! it could get pretty crowded, especially at nights, but i really enjoyed my stay.

"A holiday resort in paradise"

This was are first visit to Sharm, and we will be going back there.
We stayed in the Naama Bay area which is the main tourist part. Naama Bay is not that big it is easy to walk round and you can strolle down the beach promanade which comes into the centre were all the bars cafes and shops are. The beach looked realy good there is a public part also.
There is a shopping centre but some off the shops are not for bartering I think when they look at you and see how rich you are and then they make up a price as there are no price tags
This is a great resort and is very internatioal.
There are many restaurants and I was suprised how good they were the Egyptians can cook .
Out of my visits abroad this resort must be some ware at the top of the list
