Hi,
We are touring Egypt in a week or so, and will be in Sharm area from 14-18 November. We are not looking for 5 star luxury, but something a bit unusual/romantic. Has anyone got any suggestions from their own experience? I've been trawling the web, but the photos are usually years old and probably can't be relied on. I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks for the tips Sharm Guy! Have you stayed at all of these hotels? We were looking at the Baron Resort as it seemed to have availability and good reviews, but as always, there are some negative reviews. It's so hard to know which reviews are fair! Hope you enjoy your time at the Maritim Jolie!

Usually every our day in sharm starts from Terrazzina Beach.
So it means that the day will be really great. Good tanning, dancing in the cleanest sea, drinking beer, meeting friends....... What to wish more? ;) I miss every day when i am away from this place!!!!!!!!!
Very thrilling date :) Under reef rock you can see Lionfish (Pterois volitans). This species lives in coral gaps and holes. Its specific fins spread like flames, lion's mane or exotic bird's feathers. Incredible!
Except amazing look Lionfish has one more attribute. The edges of the fins are linked to the glands producting venom. Lionfish sting causes (for human being) very strong and long-lasting pain and for some people (after the allergic reaction) can be even threat for life.
But isn't it charming :))
While in Sharm one might experience some cultural shock related to interaction with locals. From one side, you will have extremely polite and well-mannered staff at the hotel, who will keep their distance and give you space. As soon as you leave your hotel, you will encounter the complete opposite style – from persistently honking taxi drivers to obnoxious salesmen who will do all possible to trick you into a conversation, then into their shops; who will follow you and tire you with the same questions: ‘where you from?’ ‘what’s your name?’ ‘would you like to see my shop for just a minute?’ etc. “the special attention” will be given if you a woman and not accompanied by men. Be prepared for a lot of attention and questions from “are you married?” to “would you like to see my place?” though with all fairness, I have to admit that things became much civilized at the Naama Bay compared to my previous visits in 2005 and 2007 – now at least half of salespeople will leave you alone, the interaction style at the Old Market is the same. so going there, don’t forget to bring along all your patience and sense of humor.
The best clothes here is lightest because the temp. here is too high all the year and some swming clothes It, s better to bring some anti sun medicine because the sun here is too hard As usual bring some lens filters for desert and beachs and some dark lens . If you like to have a camp here is the best area to camping near the sea and on the sand .
The Dinner & Stars trip is one to remember.
Your tour company will take you into the middle of the desert just before sunset to a bedouin camp. It all looks lovely to begin with, all of you sitting around in tents smoking shisha and drinking tea.
Then the sun goes down, and you can't see your hand in front of you! Quite scary!
Because there is no light pollution in the desert, the sky is full of stars. The best part is looking through the telescopes at the planets and stars. If you have a digital camera, you can attach it to the telescope and take a picture.
