More about Resta Sharm Resort
We loved the Resta Sharm!
Before going to the Resta Sharm Resort we had read some terrible reviews and were concerned with what may lay in store for us. But we should have paid no attention to those reviews as our holiday was amazing!
The accommodation was very comfortable and clean. Beds were good as was the bathroom. We also had a room with a view of the pool which was lovely of an evening to sit on.
Food was good. I'm a vegetartian and I didn't go hungry! Although there isn't a great selection of main meals for vegetarians there is always pasta and a wide variety of salads. The resturaunt staff were very helpful!
I went with two friends, one of which badly hurt her food on the first day, the staff at Resta were always about to lend a helping hand which was very helpful.
We used the hotels taxi service on a number of occasions. Iman the taxi driver speaks very good English and was very cheap to use.
Overall we couldn't have asked for more. The hotel was very clean and the were staff very friendly. A great holiday and we plan to visit again!
loved resta sharm
after reading some reviews about resta we were a bit put off we were going to change hotels glad we ignored the reviews hotel was great staff couldnt be more helpfull food was really good rooms nice and clean done every day not to far from beach or shopping centre nice and quiet at night music stopped at 11pm hotel manager made a point of meeting everyone who stayed at hotel wich was very full most of time we were there would definatly go back
RESTA SHARM .......no rest possable!!!
We arrived at Resta Sharm on the 7th of August at 2am, upon arrival the hotel seemed pleasant enough, however the first problem occured when we were shown our room- it was a small dark room with no balcony (even tho i did book a 4* hotel with balcony), however it was clean so we decided to go to bed and resolve the problem in the morning.
The following morning we asked the reception with regards to our room and were told we would have to pay an extra £70 to have a balcony room for two weeks (which i though was appauling as i had already payed for this-so we decided to grin and bear the room we already had).
Deciding not to let this reuin our hoilday we enjoyed our first week at the hotel, the food was ok although repetitative (and they were clearly trying to improve this as we left as the food was being labelled and choices were becoming better -however we did decided to eat out of the hotel for the second week of our hoilday as we were sick of the food - if you are a fussy eater then do not go here!!!
The snacks during the day were appauling, dry sandwitches and cakes (basically left overs that were left in the scorching heat of the mid day sun on the bar -surrounded by flys) this brings me to the pool bar - this was awful, it looked dirty and was covered in flys and was basically just a block concrete which had a fridge underneight it to hold some bottles of fizzy drink. There was no freezer to keep the ice in, therefor if you were lucky enough to get ice it was normally pretty melted. The hygiene at the bar was just as bad, with a limited amount of plastic cups for the day drinks the bar man was left to rinse glasses with the use of no soap!!! In fairness the poor guy behind the bar worked hard as he was often the only staff working at collecting the limited glasses, rinsing them, and pooring drinks for all the customers (while managers in blue shirts stood around talking and watching).
The hotel does have a wide range of drinks on offer through out the day, and there does appear to be bottled water available to fill any bottles you have, however be aware of this water, in the second week we started to discover that bottles we had filled from the hotels so called bottled water were starting to smell after only a few hours, granteed it was very warm however common sense tells you that bottled water should not smell like sewage water just because it was alittle warm - we found this very disturbing and immediately stopped drinking the water.
Final problem we had with the hotel was the lack of sunbeds, on many occasions were told there were enough sunbeds for the guess's they had however, it is clear to any idiot that there was around 60 rooms all taking 2-4 people and there was a maximum of 80 sunbeds (common sense tells you this is not enough). To make the lack of sunbeds worse, as the hoilday went on people were putting towels on beds earlier and earlier -we are early risers(7am ish) and most mornings when we went down at 7.30am there was only 5-10 sunbeds left, with no one appearing to be up as we were often first in the restaurant in the morning - one night when we went to bed late (2am) we saw a number of people putting towels down, the management was aware of this problem however never did anything about these people (who often didnt come down to the pool area until 1pm the next afternoon) this caused many upsets and problems within the hotel so be aware you may have to fight for a sunbed .
The hotel was fairly clean and again you could tell that this was improving as our stay went on.
If you have booked to stay at this hotel be aware it defently has it down points, its located in a good area however, with El MERCATO (a nice shopping centre with restaurants in) only 10-15min walk away and naama bay only £2.50 away in a taxi. It is not quiet the hotel from hell, so try to make the best off what there is and hopefully the changes they are making are improving (clearly there is something going on at the hotel as after a week there were managers everywhere making changes-these can only be for the better)
Fair to Middling!!!!!
This hotel is fairly new and it shows. Its very clean and tidy but also the 'cracks' show. The check in proceedure was difficult at best. There were only 2 groups of 2 people checking in at the time. The first 2 were two lads who were given 2 double rooms before the hotel finally gave them a twin and my girlfriend and I were given a twin before a double.
The staff were very helpful in general. We had an issue with lost medication whilst there and the hotel manager was fantastic in getting this issue sorted.
Drinks are ok. Not huge range of choice but enough. The food is slightly repetative.
Rooms kept very clean although did find one bug in the bathroom one day. Dont know what is was but was not the nicest thing in the world. I put this down as being in Egypt rather than the state of the hotel. Onsite shop is well stocked but expensive.
Would I go back to Sharm - yes, stay at Resta Sharm - probably not.
Also the location of the hotel isnt great as it is a cab journey away from Naama Bay. The hotel run a taxi service for about £3 each way but its just not very central.
Hope this has been of some help to you.!!! Overall rating 7/10
Absolutley loved it!!!!!!!!!
I have just returned from The Resta Sharm Resort and I must say I loved it!
After reading the reviews, I am wondering if people are talking about the same place. Anyone who slags this place off has either too much time on their hands or has set there sights too high.
This is a 3 star Hotel not a 4. The hotel is absolutley spotless. I stayed in a pool view room with three beds. This was a very spacious room with a bathroom with a shower, air conditioning and a great view of the clean swimming pool.
No matter what time of day you walk around this hotel you will always see someone cleaning something.
The staff here are fabulous and fall over theirselves to help you. Our special thanks to Mr Ahmed (Divisional rooms manager). A very friendly proffessional individual. Mr Ahmed changed our rooms free of charge the day after we arrived. I was not too happy that we were placed in room 123 which was right above the pay bar which opens at 2300 when the free bar closes. It was a little noisey but it was sorted out with no hassle the following day.
Also our thanks to Sabry and Mostafa (resturant and bar managers) Two very helpful and respectful members of the team and again fall over theirselves to help. They are a credit to this hotel.
The food was good , lunch a little repetative, but after speaking with the head Chef Osama he explained that he works to a budget and can only do what he can. The Russian guests have no problem with the food which is evident in the gigantic portions they bring back from the self-service buffett and eat as though someone was going to take it off them.
Head Chef Osama excelled himself on my Birthday on the 27th when he cooked a 5 course meal for my girlfriend and I which was served to us on the roof top candle lit terrace by our friend Sabry. This was very special as there was just the two of us up there.
The hotel has a private taxi service run by a very well spoken man who speaks perfect English. He is very safe and his rates ver competative, He used to charge us 50 egypt pounds (£5) for the return 5 miniute journey into Narma Bay.
The hotel is a short 10 miniute walk to Old Sharm where you will find bars and shops. It is very nice and cheap too!
Our overall stay was fanastic and we would definatley return.
We arrived at the Hotel about 8 o'clock in the evening., we were shown to our room, to find a poky room at the back of the hotel, the shower was disgusting and there was a terrible smell of drains. i switched on the tap and the water was yellow. i was told by the Rep that it was normal for the water to be that colour.
We were moved into another room which over looked a dirty alley full of rubbish. although the room was better the sink plug was rusty.
Then there were the towels that were a dirty shade of Grey with stains all over them. and that was the same for the pool towels.
Also although the sheets were changed regularly the were not clean.
The food was terrible, and on one occasion at 8.30 in the morning they ran out of milk so the cereal was removed from the restaurant.. The restaurant was also part of the reception.
I suffered 6 days of diarrhea and my daughter was vomiting as most of the quests were, we were only served warm drinks at the pool bar unless you were willing to pay for cold ones. You had to pay for ice creams and the fridge was padlocked, as an all inclusive holiday we expected all to be free, the bar snacks were few and far between.
The pool bar itself was filthy, occasional wiped over with a cloth that was black. The cups were only rinsed under the cold tap and not washed properly.
As for the pool itself after a couple of days you could not see the bottom of the pool and there was scum around the edge. Because it was so hot you had no choice but to go in the water.
When booking the holiday i was told there was entertainment during the day and in the evening, but of course there wasn't.
We had a belly dancer for 10 minutes twice a week.
Most of the staff were friendly enough, some were over friendly as my daughter found out when she went to our room, the cleaner thought it was OK to touch her and tried to kiss her. The same cleaner shut the door on one of the other guests and would not let her out of the room, the porter was also continuously asking for money from different guests including myself. He was knocking at my door and phoning my room after midnight, which does not make you feel very safe. Also the cleaner thought is was OK to open our sealed bottles of water drink half of them and hide them at the back of the fridge. I can honestly say this is the worst holiday i have ever been on and i will not be returning to Egypt.
On a good note i will say that the new manager whom has only been at the hotel for a short while was trying to sort out some of the problems and the two men involved in the issues above were dismissed. But you should not have to put up with this sort of behavior, unfortunately the Egyptian men do not have respect for any women. Bev
Great relaxing break.
Before we booked this holiday we had checke the reviews on this website, and they had all been good. When we checked again before going the ratings had changed for the worse. Both my wife and I were dredding going, but were were pleasantly surprised when we arrived.
When we arrived at the hotel we were checked in quickly and shown to our room. It was a room to the rear of the hotel, with what was allegedly a garden view!! The was no garden, just a wall and a few plants in front, not that we saw that as an issue.
The room itself was a good size, the bathroom was nice and clean, and it was cleaned every day. The air con didn't work on the first night, but once we contacted reception the next day, they got it fixed straight away.
The wosrt thing about the room was the fact that there was a door to the connecting room. There was nobody in that room for the first 4 nights, but after that the room was occupied by a very rude and noisy guest. The door was insufficient and all the sound transferred through both ways. This made the rest of our holiday far less relaxing.
The food was OK. Our first meal was breakfast and the salad that was out was obivously from the evening before, and we hoped this wasn't a sign of things to come, thankfully it wasn't. There was always plenty of fresh salad, and meat. There wasn't a huge variety of food, but we always managed to find something. The puddings were always great. It was obvious that the food was catered for the eastern europeans who made up the majority of the guests at the hotel.
The pool wasn't particually clean, and there was a constant scum mark around the pool, no matter how much they cleaned it. There were always plenty of available sun loungers, however the hotel was far from full when we stayed there.
Most of the staff were very friendly and helpfull, in particular Usama in the restaurant.
Overall we had a great time, we both managed to stay free from any sickness bugs, and for my wife who usually picks up bugs, that is quite an achievment. We would come back to Egypt, and if we were just after a cheap week in the sun then we would stay here. If you are after a lot of night life then this probably isn't the place for you, as the hotel is around other hotels, but not a lot else.
Lovely frendly Hotel
Hi my partner and i booked this hotel could not find any reviews on Hotel Truths then we found this site shock horror . Well we arrived plan was to eat out etc but low and behold lovely hotel and the staff could not have being nicer . everyone we spoke to was off the same opinion and when we told them abought what we had read the ALL said the same Utter Rubbish . I would go back tomorrow
My daughter and i went to relax in the sun and that is what we did here. The staff were polite, helpful and had sense of humours!
We were waited on for our entire stay, fantastic!
Hotel is fairly small but we thought that made it all the more special as the staff became friends.
Massage that is offered in the hotel is the best i have ever had.
Hotel, rooms, resturant and pool area were all clean and well presented. Food was great and a good variety offered, the sweets were exceptional!!
I wonder where the people that have written bad reviews actually stayed? It is not the same one that i have just left!!!
Go and enjoy this hotel as we did, have fun and relax....
Great cheap holiday
This holiday was booked through teletext holidays, with free transfers. Hotel staff were very welcoming and told us all we needed to know until we met the rep. Hotel rooms were comfortable and spacious, the shower was huge and clean!! The rooms were cleaned every day-with fresh towels.
We were especially pleased with the pool area and sun loungers.
The restaurant was also kept clean and had a good assortment of foods, a different meal every day.
The bar staff waited on us, which we found a little embarrassing, but they just wanted to please us. We met alot of other english people which we hope to keep in touch with.
The russian guests at the hotel added to our entertainment. Be prepared for their ill manners and inability to queue!!!! They do love to pose around the pool.
All in all despite reading scary reviews prior to our departure, we found this hotel to be a pleasant place to stay for a relaxing week.
Not sure what the bad reviews were about but we certainly didn't experience any problems.
Resta Sharm Hotel
Has anyone stayed in the Resta Sharm Hotel? I have checked on trip advisor and it is very mixed. On some holiday booking sites the reviews are good.
Re: Resta Sharm Hotel
You will always find a range of reviews on websites.
Best advice is to ignore the very bad and the very good, and go with the most common viewpoint.
Holiday booking sites almost certainly vet reviews before posting them, so you cannot guarantee they fully reflect people's opinions.

Re: Resta Sharm Hotel
thanks for your answer - had a look at both of these sites. Agree better to take the middle ground. just hoped a virtual tourist user had stayed so i could ask some real questions. booked anyway so hope its fine.
Re: Resta Sharm Hotel
Hopefully someone here will have personal experience.......but agree that most reviews look ok.
