Poor food and bad service let's this place down!

Nice looking hotel, and with all it's many different pool-areas and close proximity to Naama Bay center, it should have been a safe bet for a relaxing vacation with a baby. Unfortunately a few things got in the way...

First off the food - I usually expect much from hotel restaurants, but considering it's star rating and some reviews on this website we we're hoping for a positive surprise. Alas, it was not to be. Stale bread, only choice of high fat milk, bland meat, jarred/canned/pickled vegetables and fruits, a plethora of cakes that all tasted the same (awful), hand-served coffe only with waiters often too confused to remember even after ordering 3 times and so on... Luckily we only booked all-inclusive for 3 days! Even drinks (pina colada and such) we're very sub-par when on all-inclusive vs. paying in cash. Even in-house italian restaurant Casa Sharm served very bland food...

The pool bar at our house (6) was manned by a barman that didn't really keep his cooler stocked with anything (a problem when you have a baby and aren't all that mobile) and kept rinsing the glasses in plain tap water, despite us telling him that our stomachs couldn't handle the local bacteria and even laughed in our faces when we complained that he kept doing it despite our explanation. We got a handful of beer from the managment as compensation, but didn't really feel that they took it seriously...

Lots of other problems with service: Mowing lawns next to sleeping babys despite the grass not needing it at all; painting right outside hotelrooms with turpentine based paint, making it impossible to leave baby inside in the cool while we chilled outside; Roomservice repeatedly forgetting orders; no pool towels available the entire first day; ATM not working for a whole week; hotel supermarket not open for a whole week; reception telling us that our visa cards were the problem, despite the display saying "system malfunction" and the two couples before us having the exact same problem (which, although we saw and heard it ourselves, the staff refused to acknowledge!).

The staff was generally helpfull and courteous, but not really qualified and the food in the restaurant was a total let-down - if these issues could be dealt with the hotel would be great, but as it is I can't give it a better score than two...

Unique Quality: Lot's of nice pools; well kept gardens/surroundings; good location; rooms nice and large, although slightly dated and with very hard matresses

Bad beach snorkling; generally friendly but un-qualified staff; poor food

The name says it all...

Firstly, i could see the grounds were well maintained...couldn't believe how green everything were in the heat! Not far from my room, were the main pool, which on a night looked beautiful and tranquil. I then ventured to the hotel's private beach, on the way passing Golf course, and what seemed to be a small bird garen, Bedouin tent, Love boat, Grill Restaurant...the views were amazing from the beach, everything seemed so calm. Although it was dark, you could see the fish swimming in the coral...i just couldn't wait until it was light to see everything in a better picture.
The beach had plenty of loungers with umbrellas...I was happy.
The hotel had four restaurants to choose from, the food was gorgeous and had plenty to choose from. The first night when i arrived to hotel i went to the hotel's main buffet, and i was shocked by the selection! WOW! I was like a little kid in a sweet shop. I basically choose what i wanted and the waiters came to me and asked me what i'd like to drink and frequently did this when i was running low. I don't drink, and i loved the hotels non-alcohol cocktail 'Dreams Sympthany' i must of ran them dry...But it was GORGEOUS!
On an evening you have to book the restuarants outside. There is also 'My place' and the italian by the pool. You get one meal each week you stay at the hotel; e.g stay for two weeks and you can go twice. There is also the love boat, which i would recommend! On certain nights they have entertainment such as belly dancing etc....the food was a gorgeous three course, and lots of it! The views from the love boat on cliff were breathtaking and at night is so peaceful. Everyone seemed to have a great time here as they got you up dancing and joining in the fun! I was impressed, i won two competitions and won two cocktails! It does cost to go here though, 112 egyptian £'s per person (£12) but well worth it. If you do go, make sure its on the night they the party. I found that it seemed to be every Wednesday, but they will advertise this in reception near the buffet area.

Unique Quality: The pools were really busy, it was so hard to get a sun lounger. I think a lot of people put down their towels at around 8 in the morning! Too early for me...Hehe. I'm not one to sit in the sun anyway, so i had fun in the pool. There is a bar at the pool, which is handy! They had an entertainment team that were often by the pool doing water areobics or playing 'water soccer'. They would also come to you and try to put you down for entertainment...which was fun to join in. The italian restaurant by the pool is open during the day for a buffet style meal, i loved it here.

The big bonus of going to Dreams Beach was that they had a sister hotel right next door; Dreams Vacation which you could use their facilities too. The pools are much bigger and quieter as they don't have a beach. I would say it's a 5 minute walk to the hotel, but there is a little car that comes round to take you there and back. I'm not sure how many restaurants they have there, as i didn't eat here. But i did see a mexican by the pool. I notice they also had football pitch and stage. They were also a hiden secret, in the Dreams Vacation they had a Gym, Jaccuzi and Sauna. It was small, but an added bonus. I liked the added touch of having four poster style beds by the pools with canopies across, a nice touch and perfect from hiding from the sun!

The hotel also had a free bus that picks you up from the hotel and takes you to Naama Bay. You do have to put your name down though, as the seats go fast especially on an evening. I'd recommend that you put your name down before you go to breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I enjoyed it so much that i often said 'this is the life'. I will be returning in September 2007 for another two weeks. The staff, food, facilities are excellent!

5 Star Experience

We'd never stayed in a 5 star hotel before so were excited at staying in swish surroundings. The Hilton Sharm Dreams didn't disappoint. It is a large hotel with a sprawling main pool (which was a bit chilly) and a number of smaller pools around the hotel grounds.
The hotel is not on the beach but it's sister hotel is and you can use the facilities of both. Get to the beach early though if you want to get a sunlounger and be prepared to tip the attendants to get what you want. Theres a reef on this beach for good snorkelling.
The food was fine with buffet style choice. The staff were friendly and helpful and rooms were spotlessly clean with good facilities. I would definitley recommend this hotel to others.

Unique Quality: The numerous swimming pools are wonderful but if you're there for the marine life you'll spend much more time at the beach across the road.

Top Notch Hotel

Out of all the places I have visited this is the best hotel so far.
The room were we stayed in was at the rear of the complex and had it own pool for the area. there is a main pool but there are seven altogether.
The main bar is the Carib bar also there is a pool bar.
There is a buffet rest were we had breakfast and there was an Italian and Mexican rest also wihch were very good also.
The breakfast there was plenty of choice and the waiters brought hot drinks to your table.
Our room was quite big and the terrace overlookerd the pool and the furnishing is of a very good standard.
There are many facilitys at this hotel also there is a bank and a cash machine in the entrance also a they have a Cassino next door.
This hotel is well worth a visit not quite 5 stars but not far off.

Unique Quality: The hotel staff were great very helpfull and friendly.
The food served in the restaurants is of a very good standard.
This is the only hotel were i have stayed were they checked the PH of the pools twice a day.
The gardens were very well maintained the lawn outside are room was far beter than mine her in England

Tropical Pool in Hilton Dreams

The location is excellent, a few minutes from the private beach and walk into Namma Bay, so no bartering with taxi drivers! The beach is large with plenty of sunbeds. Hotel rooms are spacious, cleaned every day and housekeeping even put fresh flowers in your room. All rooms have safe, tea & coffee making facilities, mini-bar ,hair dryer and 24 hour room service. We ordered room service on 3 occasions and found prices and quality to be good.

Unique Quality: Snorkelling from the beach is excellent - you can see large fish in quite shallow water.
The hotel staff are great - very helpful and pleasant.

Enjoy as in dreams

Hilton Dreams is located only 10 minutes walk away from the centre of Naama Bay. It is not right on the beach because there is Hilton Fayrouz in front of it, but the beach is some 300 m far. There are one large central pool and several smaller ones in the resort. Service is great, rooms are very comfortable, each has a mini bar, a TV and a terrace. All indoor places are airconditioned. In the main building there are two restaurants a la carte, a Mexican and an Italian, and Caribi bar. Food in the main restaurant is served both indoor and outdoor. Food is excellent, great choice, every day something different.

Relaxing location yet close to all the action!

Just returned from an excellent stay at Hilton Sharm Dreams Resort. It is an attractive hotel, well laid out amongst pretty gardens and many swimming pools (two of which are nicely heated). Our room was large with attractive patio and lawned area in front, and was immaculately cleaned and tidied every day. Free safe. Bath and good shower. TV with lots of channels. Breakfasts were good with a nice selection, including a fresh juice bar. Evening meal was not the best we've had in similar hotels, but you certainly wouldn't starve. The private beach was reached across the main road and through the Hilton Fayrouz, and was about a 7 minute stroll from our room. Very attractive beach, nicely laid out and quite large for Naama Bay. Plenty of room between umbrellas and sunbeds were of a high quality. Good Beach restaurant and bar for snacks. Excellent reefs just a few steps in the water where lots of colourful fish could be seen. Would certainly stay here again.
