My boyfriend and I stayed at the Marriott on the mountain side recently. The rooms are spacious, we had view of the pool and overlooking the mountains which was amazing. It is true that the cleaners leave you all designs made out of towels - in our two week stay we had a heart, swans, lily's and a boat ! The pool on the mountain side was very nice too, there was never any problems getting a lounger. It was very clean. The hotel also has it's own private beach. The Marriott has a few restaurants, the restaurant on the beach is not very good. 'La Pengola' in the middle of the mountain side pool is ok for food, the Japanese restaurant in the Beach side is also ok but I can definitely recommend the buffet on the Beach side - great food, for a great price. It worked out to around £12.50 eat as much as you want, and it was always great food - (a must). In regards to the local area for food, I was a little disappointed, although the service is always outstanding, the food does need bringing up to scratch. There is a Mexican restaurant at the end of Naama Bay main street which is very nice, although be aware of the constant badgering you get from the locals all wanting to ask 'one question' or 'are you English' or 'come look at the menu'. At first you don't want to offend anyone and politely say no thank you but after a few days you end up ignoring them or not wanting to look anyone in the eye. One last point, be aware of 'please can you come and sign my guestbook', we did and ended up in someone's shop, desperately trying to give us drinks and sell us perfume. The staff at the Marriott were very nice and welcoming, and the tight security makes you feel much better in light on the recent events in the area - (you go through a metal detector and your bag will be checked every time you enter the hotel).

The entertainment was rubbish, the only highlight was the party twice a week at Harry's Pub which was quite funny, included belly dancers etc. The disco on most other nights doesn't start until 11pm - which was dead when we arrived once at 11.30pm - definitely go into Naama Bay for any entertainment. Couple of tips, take a travel iron, and travel kettle as they are not provided. Beach and pool towels are available so you wont need to bring your own. All in all the Marriott Hotel was a fantastic place to stay and I would definitely go back there again.
