Acceptable

We were a large group, and came with very different ideas. Some of my friends found the hotel awful, with bugs in the rooms, lousy food and the all-inclusive basis only a metaphor to say full board, complemented with the chance to drink the poison that they call "local drinks", presented in three different bottles supposed to have whisky, gin or rum, but all of them having the same... that!

I don't totally agree - I had a good room without bugs, the food was poor as expected in four stars in Africa, and the poison, mixed with the occidental poisons called Coca-Cola, Fanta or Sprite, something not fatal.

The beach is far to walk, close using the free shuttle, that runs only four or five times a day. There's a bar, but the all-inclusive doesn't go so far, so the water is charged at touristy prices.

Back to the hotel, the pool is good, and the animation team is amusing.

A Hidden Gem

I was very wary about booking this hotel based on the ratings on another website but I was very pleasantly surprised.

The low white washed buildings gleam as you pull up infront of them and reception is cosy with a bar to the right. The rooms are HUGE. I had 2 beds and much more room than I knew what to do with. The mini bar was empty so I just used it as a refrigerator to store my own wine and water. The bathroom needs a bit of re-grouting but it was spotless and the high pressure shower and HOT water were heavenly. I ducked into another room while it was being cleaned and that bathroom was more updated than mine, so maybe they are in the process of updating.

I had a love/hate relationship with my room. The buildings are two-story-bungalow style which gives the complex a very intimate feel. My room was on the ground floor of one of buildings near the pool, which gave me a great view of the pool, the entertainment and the dancing. The downside was that everyone having a drink on the terrace or walking by my building could see straight into my room. I had to keep my curtains closed 80% of the time and the drapes are heavy so I felt a bit imprisoned. Sitting on the balcony was lovely though so I stuck with it.

The pool is fantastic, and there's lots going on. I observed the water-robics at 11am everyday and it looked like fun. The music was really good but not intrusively loud. It was kept to a reasonable volume and they played a good mix of music. I paid 100LE to get onto Terrazina Beach and the DJ at the hotel was a thousand times better! Music ended at midnight, which I thought was considerate.

The hotel beach is down an off-putting dirt road in the middle of a construction site but don't be discouraged. The beach itself is good, with a bar.

Television wise, there are only two English channels available, but a Russian soap opera had subtitles and I found myself caught up in it for the 3 days I was there. :-) Otherwise, there's BBC News and one other.

There's no internet cafe. There is one computer that they let you use and on the last day someone locked it with a password and reception didn't have it. I'm guessing there's wifi.

Did not have any food here, not even breakfast, so I can't comment on the meals. Room service is available but I didn't see a menu. I did use the laundry service to press two pairs of pants and they had them back to me in 5mins and did a flawless job. Not bad for 5LE each.

Overall, I think Sol Verginia is really good value for money if you're on a budget. Booking through Expedia I got a 10min massage but I didn't use it. The hotel is extremely clean, well situated and the brightest one on that street. I will definitely be back.

Unique Quality: Great Pool. Good location. Fun.

More about Sol Verginia

Pleasantly Surprised

by NilePrincess about Sol Verginia Hotel - Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt

Sol Verginia is perfect for the budget minded traveler. It consists of two-story, bungalow-style white washed buildings which gleam as you pull up infront of them. Reception is cosy with a bar to the right. The rooms are HUGE. You will have more room than you know what to do with. Mini bars are really just refrigerators as they are empty, so you can use them to store your own water, beer or wine. The hotel doesn’t hassle you for bringing in outside food/drink provided you don’t flaunt it. The bathroom is also a good size and is need of re-grouting but it is spotless and the high pressure shower and HOT water were heavenly. There is a blowdryer in the bathroom and a safe in the room.

The rooms built around the pool are prime real estate as you can sit out on your balcony and enjoy the fun, but the disadvantage is that anyone having a drink or dancing near the little dj area can see right into your room. The drapes are disappointingly heavy so if you’re inside and want privacy, it gets a bit depressing and dark. The pool area is fantastic! It’s well-kept and very pretty and there's lots going on. Water-robics starts every day at 11am and is lots of fun. At night, the local dj spins some tunes and it’s a party right there at the hotel. This ends at midnight. If you’re in one of the further buildings, you can barely hear the music at all. The hotel beach is down an off-putting dirt road in the middle of a construction site but the beach itself is good. The hotel runs a free shuttle to and from the beach.

There are only two English channels as most of the guests seem to be Russian and a mix of other nationalities. There's no internet café; there may be wifi. There is one computer in the lobby that they let you use. Room service is available and the laundry service is prompt and flawless. Did not have any food here, not even breakfast but from reading other people’s comments on various sites, the food here seems to be a major disappointment. If so, skip the meal plan (i.e NO All Inclusive, or B&B) and just get the room. There are lots of good restaurants in Sharm and a mini mart directly across the street from the hotel to get basics.

Personal note: This hotel is NOT rated highly on Tripadvisor but, it was a last minute trip and I decided to take a chance. I was very pleasantly surprised and would stay here again in a heartbeat. If you’re looking for a basic + hotel, spacious, clean room, with an awesome pool scene, nice staff, all at very good value for money then stay here and eat out. Great pool area, huge rooms

Sol Verginia Hotel (hadaba)

Hi All

hi there

i stayed at this hotel june last year with my daughter.. Its ok decor wise but a bit chinzty.. Staff are reasonably friendly although they got shirty when a couple of friends staying at another hotel wanted to meet us in the hotel.. dont really understand the reasoning behind that.

Breakfast usual buffet fair.. Dont recomend the restaurant for evening though, I suspect alot was re-heated from previous plus if you are not half board the charge for the evening dinner buffet is scandalous. Bar snacks by the pool are ok for kids though..

Pool is nice and clean.. Animation staff are friendly and kids love them.

Rooms are of a good standard and had a nice bathroom with power shower.. they are kinda apartment style.

Make sure you sign for any drinks straight away or you may get stung and have to pay twice..

My daughter got very sick on the second last day and the hotel got us a doctor, was very expensive but the docotor was lovely and put her on a drip in the hotel room and gave her prescription drugs.. he even took us to the airport the next day to make sure she was ok to fly.. on the downside though, she reacted badly to one of the drigs prescribed and we ended up in Intensive Care back in the uk.. It turned out that that particular drug is not given to under 18's in the UK, we werent to know that though so be careful when getting medical care.

All in all its an ok hotel I do like the Hadaba area.. I have been to sharm many times over the last 10 years but I wouldnt stay there again.. My fav hotels are either the Conrad or the Naama bay hotel. The Lido and the Palace are also good.. Amr sina is lower standard but has character

Taxi from the airport dont pay more than 150 le (about £15) thats with tip

if you want to know anything else give me a shout
