I stayed at Le Meridien Luxor the very first time i came to Egypt back in 2003. I wasnt sure what to expect of Egypt, its always been a dream to travel here as i was interested in the history of Egypt when i was at school. When we first arrived i was amazed at how stunning this hotel was, it was like a palace inside & the staff were excellent.

The bellcaption is so sweet, his name is Mahmoud, we received a warm welcome from him & he even delivered flowers to my room which i thought was nice. He showed us around the hotel & we went to try some Shisha, this was when i became a true "Shisha Queen" as the Egyptians say to me. Hehe. I loved the taste of it, it was really nice.

The hotel has recently changed it name to The Nile Palace. I you are planning to go here then either ask for Meridien Luxor or Nile Palace because not all tour operators/travel agents have the new name.

The pool at Le Meridien Luxor is fabulous, you get a great view of the River Nile & the Valley of the Kings at the other side of the Nile. The pool is quite small & it is abit cold but its nice when you've been sunbathing for a while.

We paid for a Nile View room & it was well worth the extra cost, the views were unbelievable. I loved it. There is plenty to do at the hotel, shops, bars & there are a couple of restaurants too. The hotel is close to all the major attractions in Luxor too which is good.

Id recommend this hotel to anyone, i had a great time & would go back.

  • We stayed at the Le Meridien after a weeks Nile cruise the hotel was excellent the rooms are very big the bathroom is large fresh linen and towels every day, we over looked the patio area which got the shade in a afternoon the balcony was a bit small but fitted two chairs and small table to watch what went on down below in the Italian and Lebanese restaurants and listen to the music that is played at night by keyboard player and a duo singing
Breakfast are very good with a lot of choice as much as you can eat unlimited tea and coffee ,large inside dining room smoking or no smoking or out on the terrace in the lovely early morning sun

the pool was nice and clean two pool attendants that looked after the beds if non available they went and brought more out only hotel towels on the beds ,snacks and drinks by waiter services from the pool bar £3.50 for a steak baguette with chips and salad, drinks £1.80 a bottle of lager £1.00 for a pot of tea/coffee,80p for a ice cream
all staff were friendly and polite and very helpful

watch the sun set on the west bank excellant veiws of the nile just sit and watch the river life
kingfishers diving in the Nile as you sunbathe by the pool

Le Meridien Luxor: Luxor's Best    Check Rates

  • The Le Meridien Luxor is one of the newest hotels, beautifully situated along the banks of the mighty river Nile. Rooms are located around a big court yard, that offers restaurants, a cafe and shops. Rooms are spacious and service has improved in recent months.
A beautiful pool with also allows one to cool off from the Egyptian heat.

The hotel offers all facilities a 5 Star Hotel would offer. Several restaurants are found in the court yard as well as in the lower floor of the hotel.
One recommendation - try one of the water pipes... my favourite is Apple Flavour, they are being served in the court yard and a great treat after a busy day of exploring antiquities.

Le Meridien Luxor: BEWARE !!!    Check Rates

  • I stayed a few times in "le Méridien" (now Steigenberger Nile Palace), the best hotel in Luxor. Friendly staff, excellent buffet, nice and clean rooms. BUT... beware of the shops near the pool area. The hotel has no supervision on these shops. They are too expensive (about 10 times the price you wouild pay in the bazar for the same articles) and the people hassle you to buy (nothing new in Luxor) and they even go as far as to ask you money. Beware especially of a certain "Jasmine" (last shop before the pool). My wife and I went into het shop, looked around and, when we were about to leave, she began to tell us a sad story, telling us she lost her job (that was last year, she's still working there), HAD to get married (still single) and had to move out of her appartment (that I don't know). Finally she asked us to "lend" her ten thousand pound (Egyptian, about 1400 euro). Of course we didn't and we left the shop. I wrote the manager about this incident, he replayed he couldn't do anything about it as the shop was not under the supervision of the hotel. So, BEWARE!!!

Le Meridien Luxor: Luxury hotel with particularly fine pool    Check Rates

  • We stayed here 4 nights in February 2007. Although the le Meridien chain has been broken up following Granada's hostile takeover of THF and the name has changed to the naff sounding Nile Palace, the hotel seems not to have suffered. We had a Nile view room although the room (134) was a side Nile view (there are Front Nile View rooms - check before you go). The hotel is right next to the Nile and for that you have a good 10-15 min walk or a taxi ride to The Sights - if you stay more in the centre of things there is the Corniche Road between the hotels and river so a Nile View is unlikely. The pool area, on a terrace right next to the Nile, is particularly good. There are 3 main reatuarants - the Nubian which is OK-ish in a mass catering sort of way, a Lebanese which is very good - e.g. skewered lamb or flattened chicken breast roasted over charcoal, and an Italian which serves competently done pasta based dishes. We enjoyed our stay and I would recommend it but don't let its slightly off centre location stop you getting into the fascinating centre of Luxor.

The pool, the view across the Nile to the Mountains in which there is the valley of the Kings, the agricultural flood plain opposite, the felucca ride to Banana Island........ the rooms aren't bad either!

Le Meridien Luxor: Good Nile View    Check Rates

  • Well what can i say for a free stay in a hotel because our plane was grounded at London Gatwick for technical reasons.
We thought we may get a 3 or 4 star hotel, but when they said a 5 star, my eyes nearly popped out of my head. And we also got Nile View for nothing.

We had just finished a Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor and had been in Cairo for 3 nights what experience that was..

Only when i came back had the hotel changed management to the Nile Palace Hotel.

My opinions on the service was the reception staff were truly awful and this was at 7pm in the evening. As i was travelling with my parents we had especially asked for inconnecting rooms not to our ava, my room was up the hall being used by a separte traveller. We went back to reception complained no apology. Then our luggage got lost it when walkabout to the other side of the hotel as the reception staff had wrote down 151 and 161 instead of 15 and 16.

The facilities were great, massive big pool and they also do felucca rides down the Nile. Next to the hotel you have KFC, Hard Rock Cafe and a McDonalds down the road.

The food was ok even though it was buffet

I would stay again as the bathrooms were wonderful a massive sunken marble bath. Great Hotel if you wanna discover downtown Luxor at its best.

For me the it was great views of the Nile at night as the whole river was lit up. We was told the rooms which look out on to the city can be very noisy.

If you get a Nile View Room you get a lovely balcony/patio where you can sit and watch life go past.

  • Excellent hotel with very good Lebanese restaurant, fantastic pool area and Nile Bar (cocktails a bit pricey and can make early starts a chore). Cleanliness is excellent though service is a bit slow, especially in the height of summer by the pool. A decent first day tip to the waiters and pool staff ensure top service throughout your stay.

Excellent dinner aboard a felluca on certain evenings, highly recommended!

This hotel is now called the Nile Palace Hotel and we have just returned from a week's stay there. It is a 4+ star hotel which deservedly is in the top 10 (6th) Conde Last hotels of Africa. We had a courtyard view room, and we were glad we hadn't upgraded to Nile View because the sun is so hot the occupants of the nile view rooms have to keep their curtains closed all the time the sun is on them to keep the heat out. The hotel has 3 restaurants - we tried them all and they are all good, although we preferred the Lebanese one best. There are 3 bars, one in the courtyard where you can watch the evening entertainment, and one in an air-conditioned foyer overlooking the pool and the nile, and one by the pool.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, and unlike outside in the city, they dont expect "baksheesh" (tips) all the time, although they dont say no if you do! The hotel is fairly modern without being characterless, and the decor is mostly marble in shades of beige/sand and green.

Outdoor pool (they dont need it indoors!), spectacular Nile Views from the bar and the verandahs as well as from the nile view rooms (you can have to pay up to £150 extra for one of these!), 3 restaurants, 3 bars including the poolside bar, souvenir shops, a hairdresser (slightly old-fashioned, styles are from the 90's if the pictures in the window are to be believed), bank and ATM (good rates) pool/billiard room, conference facilities, internet room, gym.
