    • excellent Hotel 5 stars yes but ........
    why highly expensive really! there are alot of more cheaper hotels with excellent service too .Luxor is full of hotels (all kinds)
    most of them clean and good but much more cheaper !!!!!!!!

    On the banks of the Nile about 1 km from the centre of Luxor is the 5 star Sheraton. With a great choice of rooms either in the hotel itself or in the grounds, a good selection of shops and restaurants and two pools to choose from the Sheraton has it all. Whilst it is very expensive by Egyptian standards it is very reasonable by European standards so it won't break your budget.
    There is also a free minibus that runs down to Luxor Temple and the Museum at set times which is a great help.
    When the weather hits 55 degrees centegrade you need to be assured that your hotel will be cool when you are hot and all the rooms have full air con as well as fridges, TV's and other things that you'd expect for a 5 star hotel.
    My only complaint was the poor choice of main course dishes available for vegetarians but the salads were great and made up for it.
    The staff were friendly and only too willing to please.

    Outstanding views across the Nile, especially at dusk.

    • beautiful hotel - a little distance from the centre of luxor, but sometimes you need that distance - a short taxi ride, 10 min to luxor temple - but the round pool and excellant staff make up for any misgivings

    the round pool on the banks on the nile, perfect - try the home made bread that is cooked next to the pool...

    • I found this to be an excellent hotel. We booked into this hotel after checking out of the Mercure. Unlike the Movenpick they didnt try to rip us off with crazy fees.

    We arrived 1:30am after a flight from Cairo and the staff were very helpful. The main hotel was booked out but we could only get one of the annex rooms, in its own area by rhe Italian embassy. I should add that we went to Egypt as independent travellers.

    I found the hotel to be good value with good food. Its not luxury but ive been to luxor three time and its been the best hotel so far. Its clean, cheap and good value. I would rate our stay 4.5/5.

    A minor point is that its not central and if you want to go for example to Luxor Temple its about a 10-15min drive. This is minor and all relative as if your are willing to haggle the taxis are cheap. The hotel does have a shuttle to the centre and luxor museum/temple etc which is free. Which we used a few times. Bit of advice make sure you leave early as you might not get one as there are limited space and a lot of demand in the morning.

    • the Sheraton is a beautiful hotel on the east bank of the Nile, we stayed in one of the bungalows and they are lovely, maybe a little bit dated inside but still comfortable and nice. The pool is fantastic and the views of the sunset are extraordinary. The staff are very polite and helpful and the food was great. The hotel runs ashuttle bus into Luxor and has a selection of shops. All in all, a great stay.

    • Stayed here on several occasions, just been updated. Excellent facilities and excellent service. Drinks expensive... to be expected, breakfast is best in Luxor with views that are second to none.

    Pool as close to the Nile as you can get, good restaurants and the Ancient Art shop is fabulous (be prepared to spend a load).

    • The Sheraton Resort, Luxor is a medium range hotel in terms of cost as well as quality.

    The resort itself is designed well, good for families with small children. Pleasant ambience.
    The rooms, bathrooms and carpetting need a drastic improvement. It would be a lovely place to return to if these basic hygiene conditions were met.

    The staff are helpful and greet you with a smile regardless of nature of your request or complaint!

    Good overall ambience. Nice view of the Nile.
    Pleasant and helpful staff.
    Good breakfast buffet.
    Free shuttle to the city centre.

    Stayed with wife and teen/preteen sons in two of the 'bungalows' which are behind the main hotel building, around their own swimming pool. We had been concerned after booking to tread some negative reviews about the state of these bungalows - but do not fear - these are well out of date, as the bungalows have been recently renovated. We were happy with the accommofdation, though the floors were never cleaned.

    We got the trip as a last minute flight+hotel deal, so budget was a concern. Prices for food and drink in the hotel are international rather than local - about five times what you pay by walking a few yards down the road. There is a cluster of restaurants on the road into the hotel, and we'd recommend that you eat there. Jem's and Maximes in particular were good value.

    Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. It does have a 'package tour' feel to it, but if like us you just want somewhere clean and relaxing to come back to after sightseeing, then it's a good bet.

    Very good service...nice rooms...nice staff, and many amenities such as volleyball courts, nightly entertainment. I would recommend this hotel.
