Hurghada to Cairo by bus?

by xsweety

I've been told super jet is the best bus to take on this route. But some websites show the schedule as only 3 times a day?

1. Does this take 7 hours? I heard traffic had make the journey even more extended? please advise if this is correct.

2.how are the roads? I mean the view..

3.what is a good time of the day to travel.to reach Cairo and be able to do something. dont want to spend full day just travelling.

4.where is the super jet bus station in hurghada? i mean at ourskirts or near city center? I'm staying at Triton Beach.

or if its really bad, then maybe i should shell out and go by air to cairo? im sure airports at both location are far off and total travel time my chk out and check in at cairo would be 4 hours?

It takes 7 hours (over 1 hour just getting through Cairo traffic) from Hurghada. The bus station is on Al Nasr Road, a few km from your hotel in Dahar and easily reached by taxi (LE 10) or a series of microbus rides. The airport is much further away. Obviously the earlier you arrive in Cairo the better - the first bus leaves at 7 am.
The roads are in good shape, and best to sit on the right side of the Cairo-bound bus if you want a view of the sea. Left side if wind farms are your fancy.

Travel Tips for Hurghada

Gulf of Suez of the Red Sea

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Hurghada is situated on the beach of the Red Sea. It is its main advantage defining tourist value.

Red Sea is a direct translation of the Greek Erythra Thalassa. Sure the name of the sea does not indicate the color of the water since it is not red in color. It may signify the seasonal blooms of the red-colored cyanobacteria Trichodesmium erythraeum near the water surface. I didn’t see these blooms and few people did I think.

But the sea is famous by its reef systems. Many people come there to observe them and rich underwater world. The main reasons for the better development of reef systems along the Red Sea is because of its greater depths and an efficient water circulation pattern.

The Red Sea is one of the most saline water bodies in the world. You may swim almost without any motion. I enjoyed this way of swimming very much (though I’m not fat).
In general tide ranges are about 0.6 m in Hurghada. Then water recedes on 10 meters from coast.

Persistent north-west winds are dominated with speeds ranging between 7 and 12 km per hr. It’s pleasant in summer but not in winter. Average surface water temperature of the Red Sea during the summer is about 26°C.

Hello! What's your name?

by Beograd

Ladies, get used to men coming up you, seeking for fun... If you are not interested, ignore them. Otherwise, you won't be able to get ridd of them! And believe me, they can be very charming and good looking, not to mention persistant... It is acustomed with them to sweet-talk, and it isn't something you should hold against them. Some might even dare to pinch or slap you on the bottom! I didn't have any unpleasant experiance, but than again, I am not the "exposing" type. A few girls from the group had been approached in a nasty way with a line: "How much is a b..job?" This is why I always repeat: do not act like a dog that's been set free after a long time! Be polite, dress politely and there isn't going to be any troubles for you. That doesn't mean that you have to walk around covered.

Drugs in Egypt

by Saladinos

Hurghada is not the same like amsterdam and cristiano in denmark . You cant walk around in a place to choose and buy some joints and other drugs. It is illegal here in Egypt to buy, sell or smoke and use drugs. The punishment reach capital punishment for dealers and maximum 6 years for users.

This doesnt mean that there is no access to smoking in Egypt but there are lots of people who do smoke hash and marijuana.

NOT IN PUBLIC

vans

by Aurorae

If you are too tired to walk, you can take a van, they pass by every few seconds, and beep beep you (even if you don't plan to take it!), everybody says that the cost of a ride is 1 Egyptian pound (7.40 pounds=1 euro), but it is actually 25 piasters (1 pound = 100 piasters), so all you have to do is get in the van, take your route, and upon arrival, pay after getting off, don't allow to be cheated!

Trip to Mahmya Island

by carlosdog

Do not miss out on this paradise island! It takes about 45-60 mins boat trip from Hurghada. It is pure white sand, clear blue water, pure relaxation day. There will be a meal included where you go and sit in the shade of the purpose built huts. There is a lookout point with lovely views for photos.
The trip was approx £35 each, but well worth it, and I wouldn't of missed that bit of paradise if I was staying in Hurghada again.
