El Palacio is a large hotel of the SUNRISE resorts & cruises company.
Over 300 rooms, so you know what to get.
Lots of people, less space and a hotel working as a factory.

    -Private bay
    -Good kitchen
    -Lots of activities

  • I visited this hotel/resort for a week at the end of September/October, having been somewhat put off by the previous review of this hotel listed here.

I wasn't really expecting to have much of a good time due to that review but was pleasantly surprised.

The resort is on an All Inclusive basis with food/drinks available from 6.30am to Midnight in the various bars/restaurants dotted around the complex.

It is a self contained resort which has its own private beach with aqua sports/activities available plus various activities (volleyball, waterpolo, football, etc) arranged by the hotel staff.

Some of the rooms are closer to the sea than the reception/main restaurant but none are more than 3-4 minutes away.

The food was good especially in the beach side Mediterranean restaurant with proper waiter service instead of a help yourself buffet in the main restaurant. Some of the dishes here cost extra on top of the All Inclusive price but there were still some dishes included, so you could still dine here without paying extra. Having said that we had pizza one day here and they only cost 30 Egyptian pounds each (GBP 3), so even the food you paid for was cheap.

Our room did have a fridge (unlike stated in the previous review).

The pools were nice, large and clean.

The food was good, not great, but good, especially the Mediterranean restaurant.

There are a number of shops on site to buy souvenirs, everyday items, photo developing.

It has it's own private beach if you prefer that to the pool.

The sunshine is almost guaranteed. The whole time we were there, we did not see one cloud, so I would recommend it as a sun holiday where you might want to do lots of relaxing.

We found all the staff very friendly and helpful and had no problems at all during our stay.

I would recommend this resort and advise people not to be put off by any bad reviews you may see on the internet. It might take the shine off your holiday before you've even got there for no good reason.

The stay in this hotel was very nice. This was not very luxurious hotel.. but very nice. The Portiers, kellners... they all was very friendly and very pleasant. Eating in hotel restaurant was good too. We had there 2 meals a day: breakfest and dinner. We can choose between some dishes, especially taste was the desserts.

From my hotel balcon I can see Red Sea and the street.
The great experience this was to listen some times in the day and in the night the voyce of muezin from the mosque. He called the moslems for prayer.

Five star all inclusive beach resort, opened mid 2003. Resort in oriental style.
442 rooms & suites in 11 small 2-floor units spread over the extensive grounds.
Large rooms, all with 2 queensize beds, with separate sitting corner, and either terrace or balcony. Nice marble bathroom with tub.
In the lush tropical garden (as far as 'lush' is possible in the middle of the desert) three swimming pools (one heated during winter). Plenty of sunbeds and free towels, both at the pools and on the beach.

Extensive all inclusive program with eating and drinking around the clock (litterally 24/7!): 3 restaurants: Giardino, main buffet restaurant ; La Trattoria, Italian à la carte restaurant ; Gamila, Egyptian/Lebanese à la carte restaurant.
Bars in the lobby, at the various pools and on the beach.
Health club (free massage) with good quality fitness apparatus, sauna, Turkish bath, jacuzzi.
Hair dresser salon with one free haircut.
Sports & games on the beach and around the main pool.

  • Stayed here for 7 days all-inclusive last week and was surprised to find that the hotel was much better than I was led to believe by several negative reviews I had read on this & other web sites.

The beach area was great, the pool areas varied and relaxing and the room including on-suite bathroom was clean and a decent size.

Unfortunately what stops this being a fabulous, 5 star hotel is the lack of facilities for such a huge hotel (it has 900 rooms) and the poor quality of the restaurant.

The food in the main restaurant was served buffet style and as a consequence it was often cold and the variety was poor. Each night was a theme night where the food was meant to lean towards a country, e.g. italian, mexican, however it was basically the same food with a different sauce and pretty tasteless.

There are 5 bar areas, a night club and an internet cafe however they are all far too small for such a big hotel. Each evening you had to make sure you ate first and then rush to the nearest facility just to get a seat in the bar or a go on a pool table.

This hotel has huge potential but until they sort out the facilities, in particular the restaurants, I would not recommend any one to stay there more than 7 days, however, if you are a beach person & love to snorkel then a week here would be fine.

The best features of this hotel are definitely the pool areas, beach and the rooms.

There are 2 large standard-shaped pools plus a huge pool in the shape of a winding river.

The beach area is enourmous and must be at least half a mile long. There are a couple of sea water inlets which produce small lakes for young children and old folk to play/swim in safety. The sea is very shallow near the beach & the decline is slow so that you may have to go out about 50 yards before you hit more than 6 feet of water. It is very clear and was very warm in November.

To my surprise there was plenty of coral and marine life within safe distance of the beach which was great for both beginners & more adept snorkellers.

We stayed in one of the semi-detached rooms away from the main building & I must say it was immaculate, good size and sound-proofed.

You can hear some time at day the exhort of muezin to prayer. I liked it very much.
The swimming pool in hotel is good, but more better is of course plage on the Red Sea. The water there is very salt.

the swimming pool, great views on the Red Sea, cafe, restaurant.
Time to time you can see in hotel belly dancer or another local artists.

A FANTASTIC 3* hotel with more luxury than its stars say. :) Rooms are ample, clean, beautiful, spacious and bright, airconditioned, with big bathrooms and comfortable beds, we actually had a suite because there were 3 of us, but we got it for the price of a 3-bed room!
The only trouble is more or less the same menu every day so you get tired of it, and some of the staff can be jealous and possessive and poke their nose into what is not their business. But, the rest of the staff was extremely kind and friendly!

There are two swimming pools on two levels and the best garden of all the hotels I've seen over there! All rooms overlook sea and swimming pool, and it is possible to swim in the pool 0-24, unlike in other places in Egypt, where swimming anywhere is forbidden after sunset.

Melia Pharaoh belongs to a Spanish hotel group that has 350 hotels in many countries on 4 continents. The Egyptian Melia hotel keeps the high standards of the Melia group. I liked everything about it, the ambience, the room, food, service, cleanliness, everything was just perfect.
Melia Pharaoh is situated on the beach about 15 km out of Hurghada. It has its own beautiful beach, and there is a small coral reef very close to the shore with many exotic fish just beneath the water surface.

  • The standard rooms are clean and up to the standard you would expect! The staff were very friendly!

A bit too much animation on the beach and in the bars for my liking, but not really a problem!

A great beach, but this can get very crowded! A good house reef in shallow water, with in easy reach from the beach!

Food- we used the buffet restarants due to the package we were on. Generally the food looked disgusting, however, you can find some nice pasta and steak if you find the area where it's cooked fresh! Otherwise I would stay clear of the buffet dishes that are stewing away in the steel dishes!

Nice location, but also at a disadvantage as it is rather a long journey from Hurghada town centre, the only real draw back!

Nightlife at the hotel is not up to much, there are several bars to choose from and there is a kids disco! Great! The is a disco for adults called the 'Boiler Disco', but it was closed when we tried to go there! Being so far from Hurghada town means you can't really go on a night out there easily either!

Supposedly has the 'biggest pool in the middle east'! - must admit it is big, but we spent all our time in the sea!!
