Melia Pharaoh Hotel: Enjoy like a pharaoh
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Melia Pharaoh belongs to a Spanish hotel group that has 350 hotels in many countries on 4 continents. The Egyptian Melia hotel keeps the high standards of the Melia group. I liked everything about it, the ambience, the room, food, service, cleanliness, everything was just perfect.
Melia Pharaoh is situated on the beach about 15 km out of Hurghada. It has its own beautiful beach, and there is a small coral reef very close to the shore with many exotic fish just beneath the water surface.

Le Meridien - Makadi Bay: Le Meridien - Makadi Bay
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • The standard rooms are clean and up to the standard you would expect! The staff were very friendly!

A bit too much animation on the beach and in the bars for my liking, but not really a problem!

A great beach, but this can get very crowded! A good house reef in shallow water, with in easy reach from the beach!

Food- we used the buffet restarants due to the package we were on. Generally the food looked disgusting, however, you can find some nice pasta and steak if you find the area where it's cooked fresh! Otherwise I would stay clear of the buffet dishes that are stewing away in the steel dishes!

Nice location, but also at a disadvantage as it is rather a long journey from Hurghada town centre, the only real draw back!

Nightlife at the hotel is not up to much, there are several bars to choose from and there is a kids disco! Great! The is a disco for adults called the 'Boiler Disco', but it was closed when we tried to go there! Being so far from Hurghada town means you can't really go on a night out there easily either!

Supposedly has the 'biggest pool in the middle east'! - must admit it is big, but we spent all our time in the sea!!

    Great Hilton
  • Tip Rating:
  • This hotel is situated next to the "Grand Plaza". We used to go there to dancing. There is a discotheque named "galaxy" as far as I remember:))))
Also they have karaoke every Sunday:)
The thing that impressed me most of all about that place is its massive gorgeous, massive hall with twisted ladders with RED rug on it:)))))
I suppose that accommodation is more expensive that in "Grand Plaza", and besides they don't have the system "all inclusive"
As far as we could feel swimming pools are not heated up.

a sunny place with insidious glass doors
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • So, we stayed at Grand Plaza:)
What can I say?it's a 5stars hotel, which really keeps up to its "stars".
We didn't find any fault about the service and conditions:)
but!! be careful with glass doors!!! They clean them so impecably that it's often impossible tell whether it's glass or not:)))So there were some tourists who happened to crash against the glass of the doors:)) very funny!!!
I was among them, so my friend had fun too, when she saw a huge bruise under my eye the next morning. My dad was "the doors victim" too:D)))))

as for the qualities, it didn't seem to me that there was a wide variety of food there, but still it was delicious and of a good quality:))))
They have a very cute pizzeria there!

AS for an animation team........to tell the truth after the animation team in Turkey, that guys seemed to me a little bit dull:) nice guys, but I didn't rolled of laughter as I got used to in Turkey:)

    oh yeah!!! all is inclusive!

    Magawish Tourist Village
  • Tip Rating:
  • The bungalows in Magawish - Hurghada
    The bungalows in Magawish
    by MalenaN
    Send Photo to a Friend
The second time I went to Egypt I went on a package tour for two weeks to Magawish Tourist Village in Hurghada. The reason I chose Magawish was that the diving centre I had been diving with the previous summer was within the resort area and I was going to dive again.

When I was in Hurghada in July 2000 Magawish was empty as the package tour companies had not jet started with summer holidays to Hurghada and it was out of season. When I arrived in December 2000 it was packed with Scandinavian people, mostly Swedes. My room was in a bungalow in the far end of the area. My room was nice and I did not mind the walk to the restaurant for breakfast. Included in the price was a big breakfast buffet (I especially enjoyed the yoghurt and fruit salad), and coupons for dinner buffet could be bought. I dined at Magawish a couple of times. One time I remember they played Swedish sweet dance band music and I don’t like that at all. I was very disappointed as I would have preferred Arabic music, being on holiday in Egypt. I never used the pool (as I was busy diving every day) and I d id not attend any of the entertainments they had, so I can’t say anything about that. The beach is nice and long.

Le Meriden Makadi Bay: Not 5 Star!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Our first trip without the kids. What a week! I don't mean in that way either!

Got there on Friday evening and by Sunday afternoon I was spending about 6 hours a day on the loo!

This was classed as 5 star accommodation by our travel agent, but it certainly was not. Bathroom very grubby with mould around bath and sink etc. Balcony door broken and even though the hotel stated that every room had a private balcony our room shared a balcony with the room next door. There wasn't even any furniture to sit on out there.

The pool was excellent. Recliners, pads and towels were supplied free but the gardeners were constantly watering the gardens around the pool with some sort of sewage water. The smell was horrendous.

The hotel was situated quite a long way from any town and you were really left at the mercy of the hotel and their food.

Hurghada Long Beach Resort Hilton: An Ideal Red Sea Stay   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • With Excel Airways delaying my flight yet again (this time more than 25 hours) I was feeling rough when I arrived. I just wanted to have a shower and go to sleep. However, from the moment I entered the building everything was easy, convenient and pleasant.

Registration was quick and easy even though I went to the wrong place. The Guest Relations lady didn't even mention it. She explained how to get to my room, the layout of the hotel and the basis of the all-inclusive package. She asked me to point out which cases were mine and she said they would be taken to my room during the following few minutes. They were. A member of the large and friendly team of porters and assistants then took me to my room, first doing something which often matters so very, very much to someone in a wheelchair. He said he'd be happy to help by opening doors for me but wouldn't push me unless I would prefer it.

The lift doorway was easily wide enough for my wheelchair - an important point for anyone who has tried to get a wheelchair into some lesser hotel lifts - as were the doorways to my room and bathroom with a shower at one end and completely tiled. Supports and handles were in all the appropriate places.

The self-service restaurant is laid out equally well for disabled and able-bodied people. The food was good, with a wide variety of piping hot and cold dishes on offer which would suit all tastes imaginable, and particular dietary needs can be satisfied too.

I was situated in the main building and access to the various facilities was easy by using the hotel's minibuses, available from reception or from any internal phone.

One day I went to the Thistlegorm. I booked a "breakfast box" for 4:00am and a member of staff who knew I would be late back had secretly ordered a tray of food for my return. Once again I was confronted with the thoughtfulness and kindness of the staff. At no time during my stay did I meet any member of staff who was anything less than pleasant.

Walk to the main building from Pirates Diving Centre when the mountains have both sun and shadows on them and look at the view framed on each side by a hotel.

A major positive point for a disabled diver was the dive centre. It's called Pirates Diving Network and it has been one of the very few diving businesses which saw me as a diver rather than a wheelchair. I have certain needs regarding my dives. Pirates Diving Network gave me credit for the ability shown in my qualifications and log book rather than the lack of ability on my feet at the start of a series of dives.

Hotel "Beirut": Avarage, but very good!
  • Tip Rating:

  • Hotel "Beirut" is not that luxurious, and it is not the most expensive hotel in Hurghada. But it is very clean, the food is great and it has two little beaches. I liked it there, and i would stay in "Beirut" anytime again.

    - little pool
    - we had a nice view to the sea from our rooms

  • We stay at Sand Beach Hotel for two weeks. (charter flight via Moscow - 460,-$ per person for two weeks)
We were satisfyed with Sand Beach Hotel.
Hotel is located close to Downtown (Dahar), so if you, for example, like to buy some souvenirs or take some coffee, or smoke sheesha pipe out of hotel - everything is close to you :-)

There are 3 pools, sports club (they called it "Health club"), couple of bars, jeweller store and, of course, good beach with small coral reef.
