Well, we stayed here last year and its listed as a 4 star - however, I'd put it close to more of a 3 star- 3.5 star. Ok, the service was pretty good however, the staff made it quite clear to many guests that they needed tips. Ok, I know they don't make much there but I saw one towel guy go ballistic at an elderly couple because they didn't tip him when he helped them with their sun chairs. The beach was ok- however, there are cigarette butts all over the place that the staff never seemed to collect. not that there were not any ashtrays but they kept getting knocked over into the sand. the room- well they have 5 categories of rooms and even though we were upgraded to a deluxe, the shower pressure was less than average, - , the toilet flush, well , after the 3rd day the pull flush mechanism broke off and we had to call the maintenance guy who then stood around after he reattached it with a piece of telephone wire waiting for a tip! the door was flimsy and we could hear the evenings entertainment all night. the food was rather bland. we were on a half-pension board which means you get a breakfast buffet and an evening buffet at any of the several restaurants there. Ok, breakfast was pretty good with big mugs for coffee, omelet guys for making made to order eggs and a wide variety of croissants and breads. I'd recommend to eat at the Swan hotel upstairs but hey, you better have your survival instincts ready because many touristsz there line up like 45 minutes prior to the doors opening and then if you were too late, you'd have to wait at least another hour to get a seat. Many of the staff are helpful and friendly but the other 50% are disgruntled workers who really feel they got the bad deal in life. You'll have your waiters tell you how crappy their lives are in Egypt , etc., etc.,....... However, really, I guess not their faults , as we could see they were heavily monitored by upper management on a constant basis - seemed to be 2 managers looking after each employee- Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Hurghada

My stay in this hotel was very pleasant. Food was good, lots of alternatives. We went in March (beginning of the season) and at that point there was not much animation around the hotel. If you don't like it. Go in march. Is is very quiet and peaceful then. The beach is incredible. The hotel is build around a lake, with the most clear blue water I have ever seen. Your "all in" is untill 12 o'clock at night, but at that time there is not much to do in the hotel. There is no disco and there are not much evening activities. This is a hotel with a Belgian Management, so there are a lot of Belgians.

 | Hurghada Long Beach Resort Hilton: We had a great holiday - More like a 3* than a 4*

We've just returned from a week, all-inc at the Hilton Longbeach. Shop around for bargains - we paid £320 each (this included all taxes, airline meals etc). We thought this was excellent value for money. If you have any walking difficulties or mobility problems make sure you ask for a room in the main hotel building (the best ones are on the 1st floor). Our room was in one of the 'outling' apt blocks. This was no problem for us - it was about a 7-8 min walk to the pool and about 10 mins to the restaurants – down hill going, but up hill on the return! There is a HSBC cash machine in the hotel lobby, so there's no need to take wads of cash from the UK. My bank statement showed I took out £9.66 for 100 Egyptian pounds. Normally when you travel around the globe there are lots of Germans - Hurghada is no exception, however, even they are out numbered here by the Russians, Czechs and Poles - there's about 3 flights per day from Russia. We would go back to this hotel, but would ask for a room in one of the following apt blocks: 881-905 or 806-830. The rooms on the 1st floor have much better views. All meals and drinks are self service in the restaurant, which I thought was a bit strange for a 4-star hotel - I would have expected waiters to bring the drinks at least! The food is varied and always heated through (don't be put off by reviews of luke warm food). My only 'moan' is about the Animation team. They are very enthusiastic and in turn are very noisy. All we wanted to do was relax by the pool - which we did - however, shouts of: Volleyball, Football, Gymnastic Fantastic, Waterpolo and Belly Dance Lesson was just too much for us.
Top Tips: 1 Buy a couple of bottles of water when you are through security at your UK airport and keep hold of the bottles. There are many water coolers around the hotel and you can keep refilling your bottles (although 1 bottle of water is provided free each day in your room). 2 Take your standard 2-pin European plug adapters. 3 Ask for a 1st floor room in one of the following apt blocks: 881-905 or 806-830. 4 Take your snokelling gear - you can see lots of nemos etc in the sea off the hotel beach - go in the morning though, as the tide goes out around 12 noon and wading to the sea is quite similar to that on Southport's Ainsdale beach! 5 Take lots of high factor sun cream. It was 38 degrees every day and not a cloud in the sky. There are lots of palm umbrellas to provide shade though. 6 Don't go to ANY shops during your stay; do all your shopping at the airport on your way home. It's a nightmare just walking by the shops - they are pulling you in (literally) to test their perfume and look at the 'genuine fake' bags! We went once to look at the hotel shops and that was enough. However, when we got to the airport there were loads of shops selling: booze, cigs, perfume/cosmetics, 'genuine fake' bags and, of course fridge magnets/calendars/keyrings/pyramids/bronze, wooden and plastic cats (or as my Husband collectively refers to it 'Tat'). This is simply our favourite hotel in Hurghada. The staff are so friendly and helpful, rooms are lovely with lovely views, food is good, the setting a delight and a great pool. We keep going back. Very popular with Russian tourists so us Brits are in the minority there these days. Not too big so more personal. They even remember you when you go back.
Great Dive Centre on site plus gym, massage and stables. Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: TOURISTIC VILLAGE RD HURGHADA, PO BOX 36, Hurghada

We travelled and stayed in The Le Meidien, Makadi Bay in June/ July 2006, staying for 1 week which was more than sufficient. The hotel is NOT a 5 star hotel and is reminiscent a 1950’s Butlins holiday camp, although at least Butlins did what they did well. Staff at the hotel are generally friendly, however this is spoilt by a few very unprofessional staff asking or just helping themselves to cigarettes from guests, making derogatory remarks about paying guests, being inefficient and generally giving impression that everything was too much trouble. We were not able to access a room safe as they were unable to supply one and could only give one key for our accommodation. I have stayed in various hotels ranging from 3 star to 5 star in Egypt and this hotel does not come close to a 5 star hotel. The rooms are basic and often a great distance from the main hotel, reception staff are extremely unfriendly, the food is very basic and the restaurant is more like a college canteen where you just want to eat and get out. The location of the hotel is 25km’s south of Hurghada with a few other hotels also within the bay. Management have fully exploited the fact that the hotel has little competition in the immediate vicinity which is reflected in the more than 5 star prices charged within the shops in the hotel complex eg, £4.50 bottle of coke. If you want to enjoy a good holiday in the Hurghada area, then please do not book this hotel, there are plenty of 5 star hotels in Hurghada or El Gouna, where you will enjoy your holiday and which offer a true 5 star experience.
Lack of customer care
