El Gouna

by KENPRICE

Hi
My Wife & I are thinking of going to El Gouna at the beginning of March for 10/14 day stay. We are not sure if we should go Al Inclusive, Half Board or B&B.
If we go B&B can anyone give us an idea of the cost of an evening meal in the restaurants. What is the cost of a bottle of wine, we have heard it is better to buy by the glass.

Does anyone know which is the best hotel.

We have heard that some of the hotels participate in a "Dine around Scheme". Does anyone know anything about this and how it works. Are drinks included.

What sort of temperatures can we expect in early March.

Sincere Thanks to anyone who replies.

Cheers

Ken

Trying to predict the weather can be difficult because of local on the day variations.
This information should be used as a guide only.
Here is the average weather for Hurghada for this time of year.
Enjoy your holiday.

March.
High 75f / 24c
Low 58f / 14c

The weather in the Hurghada/El Gouna area is great in March it varies from day to day. Highs in the 70's low in the evenings of 50-60 degrees. But March is a very windy month sometimes the wind blows all day and into the evening.

I have heard of the Dine Around Program at hotels in the area but I did not realize they have found a way to scam visitors on that too! Ask the desk staff at your hotel on ALL the information on the Dine Around that way you may be able to make an informed decision. I was told it was a way to sample different restaurants in the area without paying extreme prices. The best thing to understand is that El Gouna is a very exclusive area and you will pay signifigantly more for meals and liquor. My husband and I had our wedding party in El Gouna and we did pay a little more. Most who visit pay a little more than the average Hurghada tourist. As for wine with dinners I would buy by the glass.

I hope this helps

the weather in march is just great
by the evening it can get little cold.
i would advise you to stay in the hotel for half board only, since you will definitely like to have dinner or lunch in the restaurants outside the hotel as well.

Take a look at this website

I did read a little about the Dine around scheme although I have not tried it myself. This basically allows resdents of one hotel who are staying on full boad or AI basis to have their meals at another hotel instead (if you want) and hence allows you to explore & have more choice for your money .. I am not sure why that can be considered a scam but as I said, I have not tried it .. Best of luck anyway !

Travel Tips for Hurghada

Camel for Hire...

by kenmerk

Obviously, you will be given more than a few opportunities to get that long coveted camel ride in Hurghada, if that is your desire.

These can range from a ten minute walk around the parking lot up to a full day tour out in the desert.

Here a young girl awaits a fare somewhere out in the Eastern Desert...

Great diving in the Red Sea, Hurghada

by sea_urchin

I’ll give you a general brief description highlighting the most interesting things about diving with DiveProdigy.
During my three days diving with them we saw at least 5 turtles on different days, several eagle rays, plenty of HUGE morays, lionfish of various types, stonefish, and of course all the myriad smaller citizens of the reefs. Paul, one of the dive guides, knows the reefs and points out tiny details that would otherwise go unseen. He also knows to take it easy and does not rush one around the reef and back to the boat.

The drift dives were magnificent. The most grandiose was a drift dive over the Coral Gardens of Shaab Sabrena. The Coral Gardens are unscathed and there was so much to see, I didn't know where to look first. I saw a school of 20-30 pipefish, looking totally improbable, just hanging in the current as we whished by.

All days even those which were windy and generally unwelcoming for any sailors out in the open sea were filled with warmth and cheers of the diving centers staff. It was great diving experience! You can rent all the equipment in the diving center if you're reluctant to bring your own stuff. No lousy equipment, everything is of good brands - Mares, Scubapro, Aqualung

Papas/dance in the opened air...on sand...etc.

by adonai_2012 about Papas Beach Club

Wonderful enterieur. It is in the opened. Excellent dance with fire performance. Entrance fee: 100LE before midningt or 00.30 (ckeck, as afterwards it goes up to 150). For this you get 2 metal coins. 1 non alcohol drink=1 coin. 1 beer=2 coins... After spending coins I have no idea as I got there the wrong nite. It was all techno, techno, techno! *ouch*. I here they have different program every nite. My visit was for the clubs birthday...In any case worth seing... when you go to disco, nightclub
it is on the beach-no high heels (sandals or other kinda comfy shoes)

McDonalds

by gugi66

Well a McDonald´s is a McDonalds where ever you go in the world. There is 3 McDonald´s in Hurghada (New Hurghada, Sakkala and Senzo mall) and yes I´v went to all 3 of them:). The best service was in Senzo mall McDonalds and the worst in Sakkala. Well a Big Mac always work for me. I did try the Egyptian special- Arabian wrap and it was awful, so stick to what you always eat at home and you will be satisfied.

Underwater

by felix.austria

Go somehow underwater. Snorkeling, diving, by boat, however. You can rent equipment or book trips almost everywhere.

What you see there are beautiful fish in all colors and shapes, coral reefs (take care: don't touch or stand on it!)
