by albatrosss777

Hello Hurgada lovers!
I nead help deciding in which hotel to go. This is my 5th visit and would like to go to some nice hotel, with lovely beach and OK food. Nothing much. And a distance from Sakala is not of great importance.
The hotels are:

- Hilton plaza
- Hilton long beach
- Pyramisa hasheesh
- Coral sea
- Sea star or
- Sunny days Palacio

All hotels are 5* and Ai, but would like to read your impressions. I am most interested in last 4.
Thank you all for help... And see you in Hurghada :)

well dude, you like the last four but non of them is close to sakalla. if u want a really nice hotel with a nice beach and all the fun u looking for and still a 5* fancy one .. i'll recommend the marriott. other than that go for hilton plaza 10 min. on foot to sakalla.

Travel Tips for Hurghada

tea-seller

by evona

This man sell tea. We met him on the market (souk). He have a big thermos with hot tea on his back. And by the green belt he have little glasses for tea. I like his dress very much.
If you whant make a foto for someone in Egypt you must ask about consent. And you must give money for it (bakshish)... but this tea seller.... he don`t whanted money for this photo :)

Giftun Island

by Wafro

Giftun Island is an island a few kilometres of shore Hurghada.
The only thing you find over here is sand a few tourist shops, a bar/restaurant and destroyed coral reefs.
The largest part of the island is no go area or private beach, only a stretch of 300 meters is reserved for public use.
Most snorkel trips and diving trips take place in this area and they always make a 2 hours stop at the island.
Many people say it is paradise, but I think it is big joke.

Visit Every Corner of Hurghada

by Lilika

Mini-Bus is the way to move around Hurghada. Here are a few tips:
1. Drivers will always ask for huge amounts of money (they usualy start with 20 e.pounds)
2. They will deffinitely take you anywhere for 1 or 2 e.pounds per person depending on distance
3. You can bargain a higher price to be driven directly to your destination (which is a smart thing to do for long distance drives). Just say "direct" or "taxi" and start bargaining.

In our case we paid 15 e.pounds for 4 people and a 25-30 km drive.

4. Do leave the van if you are asked for a higher price. There are always many more comming right away.

The last resort in case you end up fighting with the driver is to just mention the words "tourist police". (In my 2-weeks stay, there was never even a need to think of this option.)

The mini-bus bussiness is very important to local people (cost of gas for the vans is 50 piasters and they can fit up to 15 people inside - you do the calculation), so they do their best to keep it realy safe.

Enjoy the cheap prices and don't stay in your hotel resort or the first bar/restaurant you went to.

Supermarket

by Sambawalk about Habeib El Rahman

You can get supermarket food at local prices (without being overcahaged by the cunning and greedy Egyptians). All prices are scanned by bar code at the cashier, soprices are right and fair. A must visit in Egyptians. A can of coke is 1.75EGP, A bottle of 1.5 Litre water 1.75 EGP.

Boat Trip on the Red Sea

by Wafro

You can arrange boat trips everywhere in Hurghada.
In the big hotels or at the tourist centres in the city.
The trip will cost you >10 euro and will last 1/2 - 1 day, food and non alcoholic drinks included.
