Cheap & Cheerful

We have been going to La Perla since 1997, and have seen it change over the years.
The Hotel has a lovely garden, the pool is small but kept very clean.
The rooms are very comfortable nearly all have a balcony the garden rooms are great they have a patio. The Hotel needs re-painting and some of the tiles in the pool area need repairing. The food is very boring it always seems to be the same, this is one of the changes we have seen over the years, it has also had another floor built since 1997 I think this was done round about 1999. The staff are great we think of them as old friends as they tend to stay for a long while. We were last here in June 2007 and are going back in January 2008
We have been to other Hotels in Hurghada but always come back to La Perla because it s so friendly. If you just want a place to lay your head and and nice staff this is a great Hotel, if you are after great food and entertainment it is not the place for you. There are a lot of places to eat near La Perla and they are very good value. The beach is just across the road you can get a card from reception for the Old Vic Tourist Village it is a wonderful beach.
Update: We went back to La Perla in January and they now use another beach it is called Dream Beach not to far away. Old Vic will let you use thier beach for 20LE pp

Sharm El Sheik

"Sharm El Sheik La Prla Hotel"

We stayed at the La Perla hotel which was away from the main shopping area and beach. We needed a taxi to get anywhere, and these cost anything from 20Egyptian pounds to 35 Egyptian pounds. (An Egyptian pound equivelant to 10 English pence.
The hotel was excellent and the staff very obliging. The food was good but mainly Italian orientated.

"Beaches"

Most of the beaches were private and you had to pay to get on them. This ranged from 20 to 35 Egyptian pounds. Off most of the beaches the snorkelling was absolutely fantastic with fish in abundance.

"Eating and drinking out"

When you got to the main shopping areas there was a wide varity of restaraunts and prices. Some were very reasonable and others were expensive. You took you choice.

Please could anyone help please ! My frinds are going to egypt in june 2005 and we are going the week after them and want to meet up with them, we are staying at the conrad resort hotel in sharm el sheik and they are staying at the la perla hotel in hurghada. Does anyone know how far apart these hotels are from each other. We would be grateful for any information.

Yeah, The shortest way is by Fast Ferry! No way to reach it over land! Or you must be prepared to have a drive for about 16 hours!! LOL
