Fantastic!

We had a wonderful week at the Marriott this Easter. The staff is with a doubt the most genuinely friendly group of people we have ever encountered at a hotel. By being friendly ourselves and leavng a bit of a tip we managed to make friends with almost everyone. It's amazing how far a smile will take you. On our last day we were even presented with gifts from the housekeeping and the diving school staff! The service at the hotel will blow you away. Everyone is so motivated to make your holiday special and they certainly succeeded! We wanted rest and relaxation and this hotel was perfect for that. No huge animation shows or loud music, there is a kid's club and a lounge with nightly shows but they do not permeate the entire resort. The food was super- especially the fish. Yum! And the buffet was varied and huge. Something for everyone. We ate once at the Tuscany Restuarant and the food was amazing- definately a must. Many thanks to our super housecleaning staff on the 3rd floor- Mohammed, Mohammed and Abdul- friendly and hard working and so service oriented. And to Ahmed, Hosny and Yassar at the Diving School who looked after me so well when I was sick. Plus the smiling faces at the restaurant - Safy, Ossama, Wasseef, mohammed, and Marwa. A great bunch of people. If we are in need of some R&R again then I would definately consider going back to the Marriott Beach Resort. It's the perfect hotel for what we wanted.

Sheer relaxation!

My husband and I have just returned from a well needed, 12 day sheer lazy, relaxing holiday at the Marriott in Hurghada, having chosen this hotel following such excellent previous reviews from this site. Third time in Egypt at this time of year because of guaranteed sunshine. Days were beautifully warm (about 28 deg), but you need sweatshirts for the evenings, which were cool.
We were not in the least disappointed with our choice of hotel this time. We managed to book the most fantastic value package directly from Marriott, which involved staying in one of the Presidential Suites, which was wonderful, to say the least. Queen size bed (v comfortable and lovely cotton sheets), TV, bathroom with corner bath/shower, dressing area, separate lounge and further TV (if needed!), and a further separate loo. All rooms at the hotel overlook the sea/harbour and our suite had a great size balcony with v comfortable furniture.
Staff, without exception were courteous, friendly and very helpful. We have to single our most favorite member of staff being Hassan who runs up and down the beach, delivering cocktails, drinks and meals to all of us lazy individuals! He was a super guy, and his friendly and non intrusive attitude deserves a mention. Without doubt he earnt a generous tip at the end of our stay.
The buffet breakfast was fine (juice rather watery at times tho'), the buffet during the evenings was also OK with a different theme each night. Tuscany restaurant was superb. Off site, Hard Rock in the new part of Hurghada was good fun, and good food. Old part of Hurghada leaves a little to be desired in terms of good restaurants and overall ambiance, however we did have a good meal at Cafe Del Mar, which is run by Norwegians, we think.
We went to Ministry of Sound on the Beach one night which was superb (DJ from the UK) although it didn't really get going until about 1am. We left at 3am and still people were arriving, taxi ride back driven (v competently) by a 14 year old!
The only slight niggle at the hotel was the repetitive guitar or pan piped music which started at 6.30 am and lasted until about 11 pm. It came from the buffet restaurant and drifted nicely through to our room via the balcony doors which, because of the time of year were open most of the time. Do not let this put you off this hotel tho', I'm scratching around trying to find fault with it, and this is all I can come up with!
Although reluctant to return to the same hotel/area twice, we would definitely consider returning, either for relaxing or diving, and would recommend the hotel to anyone, including both families or couples...and if you manage to get a suite, do so, it's worth it!
