A most relaxing place to stay.
After a breakfast buffet, a dip in the sea and then relaxing by the pool, what more could you want.... except a stock of good books.

    Great place to stay.

Absolutely wonderful view of blue, blue , blue sea.
Maybe the island is artificial but very attractive none the less.
Pool spacious and you don't have to join in the activities if you don't want to.

The patio is a nice place to spend a while while having coffee- or shisha if that's your pick.

  • Well, we just stayed at this hotel- it's rated 4 stars and yes, the service and the hotel lobby area is 4 stars. However, the superior rooms and the standard rooms really have to be renovated! Our toilet flush literally broke the 3rd day and a person had to come and reattach the flush to the toilet with a piece of wire! The shower pressure was really weak and would sometimes stop altogether. The beach was big and ok- however, cigarette butts were all over the place because the ashtrays that were lying all over the beach on the small tables were, I'm guessing, thrown right back onto the beach? No one was there to clean it!
Overall, it was a 3 star experience. I'd only recommend going here if you wanted some sun and beach, you get a deal for an extremely cheap price. For instance, if you're flying from western Europe into Hurghada, you should be able to get a deal half-pension (2 meals a day- breakfast and dinner), room with double bed and shower and flight for 399 euros or less. Anything more , and you're going to feel kind of ripped off. Oh, the gym, was pathetic- it was the size of one's laundry room and you had to pay for every half hour something like $1,.80 U.S/ 30 minutes.

The service is really remarkable but really go there if you speak german- it is catered to german tourists- in fact 98% of all guests there are german.
They have a really nice well-kept garden and an impressive animation team from Milan, Italy that really enjoy what they do-- gymnastics on the beach to musical bingo at night- energetic young crowd.

  • The service was excellent, and the Patio was great for a coffee after the delicious meal for dinner.
The evening entertainment was not for an old man like me, but was always well attended by other guests..

The service was friendly and efficient. When my wife found the heat of the sun too strong after 10am , she went up to rest in our room The cleaner was still working. She asked if he could come earlier, about 9.30. He said he would , but she had better make a request to the department in charge. From then on, the room was always ready when she needed it.

    I would recomment this hotel.

This is a pleasant hotel with a wonderful view over the blue waters of the Red Sea. the colours seem to change as the day passes. Although the island opposite the hotel is manmade, it forms a nice safe bay for swimming, and a pleasant place to walk and have a drink.
There is a good swimming pool too.

We chose Marriott for several reasons: we love Marriott chain and it was surprisingly reasonable compared to the part of the world we live in.

The staff and service in general, was a bit snobby and pretentious - something we noticed is quite common in Egypt (do not mean to offend anyone, but admit it - we have seen better) - especially some of the trainees they have on the floor. But other than that - our stay was very pleasand and relaxing.

The breakfast was the best I have personally had in any Marriott hotel or any hotel so far. Hot breakfast buffet, great selection, nice ambience.

The bed was superb - as usual, though, Marriott has great bedding.

The place is very family friendly - there were many people with young children (including ourselves). There is a kid's club, babysitting, games both for kids and adults (shuffle board, darts, pool, etc)

The resort has a nice (though kind of small) beach and a private island. All the rooms (except for those on the first floor, I suppose) overlook the sea. There are also some exercise activities: yoga, stretching, aerobics, water gym by the pool.

The crowd is also pretty diverse, which is nice - mostly European (German, French, Swedish, etc), some Russians, a few Americans.

Since we were travelling with a young baby, we could not take part in the nightly entertainment activities, but other guests semmed to enjoy those.

There is also a free bus shuttle to and from the airport.

Stayed here with my sister July 2006. Felt very safe. Good mix of nationalities.

Our room was spacious, with a good sized balcony and lovely view (see photos).

The staff were really nice and friendly. The Bazar was a hoot ( tried out my bartaring skills before heading on to the shops in town).

The pool looked fabulous BUT it's no use if you can't swim. It has a very small shallow end that slopes steeply the whole way and is full of people trying to play water polo as that is where the goals are.

There is another pool at the health club/spa BUT although it has a better shallow end there is a sudden deep drop (from 3ft to 10ft) for dive training.

However the beach area was lovely and gently sloping into the sea. Stay at the side nearest the pool as the sand is soft here, the sand is rough at the far side of the jetty.

Stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. The Italian restaraunt on site was expensive but well worth it.

However I thought the price of a can of coke was extorsionate 30LE / £3.

Therefore we bought most of our drinks at the little shop across the road (turn left as you exit the hotel) Much cheaper. We ate out a lot too Bulls (just down the road from the shop) was excellent (cheap and no nasty after effects).

The health club/spa was well worth the 15LE / £1:50 for a day membership. It is a mixed sex facility. It has a well equipped gym, jacuzi, sauna, steam room and an outdoor pool (shared by the dive school). The aromatherapy massage is good value for money compared to prices in Scotland.

  • Directions: Not far away from what the Kuoni rep called the walking district. Well worth a visit. Full of shops and eateries (including Mac Donalds).
