le meridien makadi bay or hilton long beach

by xenia84

Can someone tell me which hotel is better, le meridien makadi bay or hilton long beach in hurghada. I am planing to go in egypt in july with my boyfriend, but i read some bad reviews about both of these 2 hotels. Can someone tell me what in these hotels is in all inclusive.I read that there is no coctels, that all inclusive bars are so bad, but if you want to sit at the beach in some nice bar you have to pay.can someone please tell me something more about all inclusive package?

Le Meridien is approx 25 km from Hurghada.
Here is the A/I concept but it does depend on your Nationality!
All beverages served by the glass between 10:00 - 00:00.
Beverages included local beer, local wine - white, red, rose, local spirits: Vodka, Rum, Whisky, Gin & Brandy.

Very few Hotel's include alcoholic beverages in the a/i concept.

Aladdin, Safaga & La Caravane Restaurants are included. All other restaurants are against charge.

Ice Cream and Milk shake in the Sunset Bar between 14:00 & 16:00

The A la Carte Restaurants give a 50% discount on food only, so drinks have to be paid for.

Sorry I can't help with the Hilton Long Beach - it is in Hurghada, although quite far out.

Hope this helps.

Only because different Tour Operators negotiate both different rates and all inclusive concepts.
The a/i I quoted is for the British market.

I would recommend Hilton Long Beach as a better option for its huge facilities and fascinating nature. About the all inclusive: for meals there are open buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner and for the drinks you can have all the kinds you want (alcoholic and non) from any snaks bar or restaurants unless it's not owned by the hotel. I highly recommend you to read the All Inclusive program you will receive with your room keys upon arrival where you'll find the names of restaurants and bars and the timings of each that are included in your program. Any other than the listed on that program you'll have to pay.
Emjoy your stay and don't hesitate to contact us.

Travel Tips for Hurghada

Flowers and teas of the desert!

by FRONA

Hybiscus flower in Egypt is not only used for decoration purposes but the local tradion uses one of the variations of this plant for making delicious tea! They drink it both hot and cold.
This resort pays special attention to irrigation so that these magnificent flowers can blossom even under the strong desert sun.

Diving the Red Sea & "The Brothers"

by DSwede

The closest port for access to The Brothers will likely be Hurghada. The Bothers are two volcanic cores just breaching the surface of the water in the middle of the Red Sea. Located in the center of the sea, it is a multi-day trip, but well worth the journey to see the large critters in the open blue current. (see second photo for map of the Brothers relative to Red Sea coast)

This volcanic core comes from deep in the Red Sea, with nearly vertical walls. There is a healthy amount of fish and plant life to see. There is also a ship wreck on the wall which is positioned almost at a 60-degree angle. A few more meters to the side and it would have fallen off into the deep abyss.

You will likely be allowed to walk on the tiny islands and visit the light house. The island is under guard of the Egyptian military, but they mostly spend their time playing cards and fishing off the small dock.

Lie down and enjoy

by Prasnjavi about THE CHILL

Very interesting coffee bar at the beach. Everything is so cool that you can not imagine. Try Shisha. It is not dangerous for the health and it cost 5 L.E. (7 L.E. = 1 Euro). Be careful. Alcohol drinks are very expensive. The best to go there as you are going on the beach. Just chill out.

Gamila

by myriam_c about Gamila

Egyptian-Lebanese restaurant, à la carte, open for lunch and dinner.
Smoking and no smoking section.
From outside the restaurant looks like a beouin tent.
There's also a separate section where you can drink mint tea and smoke the shisha pipe (for free). Tabbouleh, houmous, falafel and lots of dishes on the menu that I had never heard of. Lots of fish dishes, a few preparations with lamb.

Luxor

by adonai_2012

If you are not broke, do go with an **airplane**.

Costs:60Euros.

Entrance fees to the faraon graves, Hatshepsut's temple and Karnak temple (which are the MUST EXPERIENCE) in Egypt are between 15-40LE (10Euros is 70LE). Over there get a cab (check in hotel about the price and ask discount, of course).

enjoy!

ps. take with you
1.water (and buy on the stops as it is available for 5LE-1.5 liters)
2.sun block or a good sun factor (20 or more)
3.comfortable shoes (tennis shoes or so-no sandals suggested)
4.a cap for head, or if not do not forget to pour water now and then on your hair-you will be exposed to sun a lor, especially in summer time ;)
5.camera-hhe
6.money for suvenirs-best to buy is in local factories: original papirus (never mind they have the price you can get 30-35%discount)-very good one can be bought for some 70Eur and original alabaster figures (discuss price and buy top 70% of they initial price...if you have time and are in the bargain mood, go for less, of course)-rather large and nicely done one can be bought for 16Eur

enjoy!

ps. In summertime it is VERY HOT-keep this in your mind if you decide to go for this excursion
