Scuba diving PADI certificate

by Mrs.K.

My husband and I are planning a trip to Egypt later this year and, as we have recently got into scuba diving, would like to do the Padi Open Water Diver Certificate. We went to Sharm 2 years ago, staying at the Hilton Waterfalls, and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately we didn't do any diving there, only snorkelling.

As we would like to explore different parts of the Red Sea Riviera this time I was looking into Hurghada and found a fantastic offer for AI in the Ali Baba Palace Hotel. Unfortunately it doesn't tell me if the hotel has got a diving center offering the PADI courses. Does anyone know or can anyone recommend another hotel with a diving center on location?

Alternatively I was looking at Taba. Any thoughts about diving there or any recommandations for a different resort all together?

Travel Tips for Hurghada

Driving

by Beograd

Remember when I said "after survivng the shock of our tour guide's driving" ? Well, the guy is unbeliveable! During the ride he let go of the stearing weel many times, was turned behind and talking to us... And when we asked him how come none uses lights in the evening he simply replied : "Why should we if we can see everything this way?"

Last week Prasnjavi told me that he got much better explanation and more beliveable one, but you'll have to ask him about it. It wouldn't be fair if I missused his story!

Dont miss the sunset

by badamcevski

Dont miss the sunset, also you must expirience as much as you can local stuff. Try the local tea - Carcade( cold Hibiscus tea), you'll get it for free just enter in any shop.
Or try the Shisha, that thing you smoke thru water! It has many flavours.

Share Buses

by Kushelkitten

When we first arrived in Hurghada and walked down the street to the grocery store to find water we couldnt figure out why it seemed that every car that passed us was honking their horn. We soon came to realize that the honking came from what are share buses. They are like group taxis.

These are the best way to get around Hurghada. When you get in tell the driver where you want to go and then when you arrive there get out and hand the driver the fare of 1LE through the window. This is the standard posted fare in these buses and if you ask the driver will try to get more money from you. If you have a problem and the driver tell you it is more go to the tourist police.

Diving in Red Sea

by Laylaa

Red Sea is a paradise for those who are not afraid o look for its misteries under the water.
With over 1000 species of animals and aroun 200 different kinds of coral Red Sea is the Mekka for many divers all around the globe. Turtles, rays, stonefishes... even sharks wait to be discovered here:-) Be aware of jellyfishes and never try to touch stonefish!!!
And enjoy the underwater paradise!!!

Sailing and many water activities

by Saladinos

In Hurghda, the most popular thing to do is to snorkle, swim, dive and fish.
I have found my way to satisfy all of them. The key word is SULTANA. it is a boat family owned and they offer very good service and price.
The boat has 2 bedrooms that accomodates 6 persons on beds.
There is a living room with TV and kitchen.
If you are a group of up to 12, you can sleep onboard.
The daily trips are cheap and it can include drinks and seafood meals upon request.
The owner will charge you starting at 30 euros/day trip/person. This is a good price compared to the feeling you will get.
