friends
by Aurorae
Egyptian people are very friendly, and our group of friends who stayed at Sun&SEa befriended the waitor of the hotel, we taught him some Serbian, made jokes...
Some people can be annoying, but some are really nice, and it's really great to chit chat and laugh!
We had fun on the beach, so here is a shot! Ljiljana, Nabil (the waiter), Ivana and Dusan are in the front row, Dragan and I are behind.
sea sports
by Aurorae
All the water sports are available here, from snorkeling to windsurf, scuba diving, water ski, parachute ski, water scooters, sailing, yachting...
But if you come to Hurghada and don't try snorkeling or scuba diving, you missed a lot!
Egyptian "taverns"
by Aurorae about Egyptian "taverns"
There are MANY along the main street, any you pick is fun! There are a lot of traditional Egyptian taverns, where you can smoke shisha and have their food and specialties, watch TV, play borad games... It's like a place for spending some leisure time for family and friends for Egyptians. Odd enough, i've seen very few foreigners in such taverns, they tend not to mix with the locals (or vice versa). Pity, because I liked Egyptian authentic bars the best!
Seafood, nothing special
by ChocoJones about Fish House
It was our first time down in Sakkala, so hingry for seafood my hisband and I bumped into Fish House in Sakkala. This restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating and and fish market. The service was ok. So was the food, good, but nothing special. Great people watching, though!
We shared an order of grilled sea bass and seafood kebab. Both come with fries and a salad, I believe. The fries were surprisingly good: crispy and hot. The kebab was good, we especially liked the shrimp part. But the sea bass was terribly overcooked, so it turned very dry - what a shame for a seafood restaurant!
But in general, it was fine, though I do not think I would go back to this place again.
Giftun Island
by lotharlerch
This is a sandy island in the Red Sea about up to one hour by small boats from Hurghada. It is not much to see there except a nice sandy beach. All what might be of interest on the island is off limits because it is a protected area.
There are nice coral reefs close to the island which are great for snorkelling.
