most under-rated hotel in Hurghada

The rooms are spacious enough, the air conditioning is ace, the views are soooooo perfect, the rooms are well attended to and clean, snacks and cold drinks in the fridge...

I will add to this review. Message me and remind me to, ok!?

Unique Quality: If you go the right hand side of the lagoon, there are some rocks, and many many fish! You don't even need a snorkel - I just had swimming goggles. You can borrow snorkels and fins from the hotel, or go windsurfing for free, being all inclusive. Other bonuses are yummy food - I tried so many things I wouldn't at home - and constant drinks on tap! The service you get from the staff is outstanding.

Former Holiday Inn

Former Holiday Inn hotel was such a great experience for us.
Very nice resort with, All Inclusive service, has its own small bay and the waves are not too big as outside of it.
It is not to far from the center of Hurghada and you can walk from there.

Unique Quality: There are two bigger restaurants, Yacht bar for a lunch, Dolphin bar with a grill, several coffee bars, pool bar at the swimming pool, fitness, massage, sauna, shops, exchange office, billiards, discotheque, children pool with a club, photo shop, safes (free, at the reception)...

More about Sunrise Holidays Resort

excellant holiday

by TripAdvisor Member taxcab

Returned from the sunrise holiday resort on the 25th August 2006,after 2 weeks holiday.
The hotel was brilliant, the staff were excellant, polite and helpful, they couldnot do enough for you the views from the room were great, the rooms were spacious and clean.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone,we are going back next year.
The quad bike trip through the hotel was worth every penny, what a good time we all had.
The only downfall of this hotel was the shops inside the hotel, they keep hasseling you, as you have to pass them to go to the restaurant.
The food is
plenty of variety to choose from, the Al A carte restaurant good, was also very good.

Loved cario & Luxor

Just returned from Sunrise Holidays Resort Hurghada, first impression was o.k. This hotel is rated 4* by Thomas Cook but does not come close, would rate it as a 3*. Hotel is very clean & staff very helpful. Swimming pool quite small(looks larger in broucher) Lagoon caters for swimmers, snorklers, divers & people learning to windsurf (health & safety would have a field day!!!!)Young children need to be watched very carefully as it shelves off quite suddenly. Evening entertainment pretty standard, but needs more variety as we were watching the same shows twice. On the beach & by the pool we found the sunbeds packed to close together(no personal space).Food was o.k. but became repetative after a few days. This hotel has a lot of Germans, Polish & Russians visiting although we had no problems.

What an amazing Holiday..!

by TripAdvisor Member go2

We Have just got back from a weeks stay at the sunrise Holiday resort... and what a fantastic time we had, being a group of 3 girls.. aged 23-26 we wanted somehwere to relax.. catch some sun and have a few nights out... this place catered for all our needs, The Hotel its self is very big indeed... we had a twin superior room which slept 3 of us and we had plenty of room,

First imprssions were very good.. nice clean room ,huge balcony with a sea view ....although the bathroom needed some attention.

The hotel has 3 restaurants, which i personally feel had a good variety of food each night, catering for vegetarians and fussy eaters alike.. The range of desserts was also Amazing!.

The Hotel staff are very friendly and try to do as much as they can for you. We did a quad biking trip through the hotel (Gino) which was amazing.. quad biking in the Egyption Desert at 4.30am and seeing the sunrise. is not something i will forget it was great!

Overall we had a really great time.. only downside i would say is that the man at the poolbar does take a while to serve your drinks ... perhaps a slight amneasia attack who knows!

I would definately reccommend this hotel and resort to anybody who wants to relax and see what egypt has to offer.. we will definately be back!

SUPERB PLACE GIVE IT A GO

Sunrise Holidays Resort Hurghada Egypt
We have just returned from hurghada, the hotel is just brill, the staff are just so nice and helpful you could not wish for more,
the hotel itself is very nice, once you get around the maze that the hotel is you will enjoy it, the rooms are a nice size the balconies are a good size some of them have a sun lounger which after a busy day on the beach or around the pool comes in really handy,
the cleaner comes every day and gives you clean towels and keeps your fridge stocked up chocolate and cokes, lovely jubbly,
also the decorations he does with towels ie swans, crocodiles etc on the bed are fantastic.
the food is really nice there is loads of variety so we never got bored, there bread and cakes are just superb, no good if you are watching your waistline.
the animation team are not bad, bit repepative but if you stay on the beach they dont bother you too much.
the beach is ok but i recommend jellys or something like that for your feet as the sand is rather gritty and gets hot on your feet, but when you get in the fish and the coral are just beautiful to see. recommend a snorkel and mask you will not be dissapointed.
Hurghada itself is to be expolored if you dont mind being hasseled every shop, but if you just ignore they give up.
Would i visit again, you bet proberly next year, there is just everything that i need, good hotel, good food and drink, the pool is good the beach and lagoon excellent, the views great, what more could you want.

Good holiday

by TripAdvisor Member miacat

My wife (30) , my 15 yr old son and myself (36) stayed for a week from the 28th July.

The hotel itself is very clean, but overall we were expecting it to a lot better having read all the reviews on Tripadvisor.

My wife and I had just returned from a fortnight AI in Playacar Mexico 4 weeks earlier (plus we had also been to different hotels in Cancun the previous 2 years), so we did compare to our previous experiences with All Inclusive.

Food was average, not really a big selection e.g. usually a choice of 2 meats and a fish - Breakfast was poor (unless you prefer to eat toast and pastries).

Rooms were very clean and perfectly adequate.

Activities throughout day were good.....but evening entertainment was pretty average.....apart from the bloke who spins for about 10 minutes....we were impressed by him.

Staff were friendly, but on 2 occasions we got a bit miffed with the begging. Firstly, after we had tipped the room-boy £6 he turned up the next day whilst my wife had returned to read a book after finding it too hot....he then asked if she had any egyptian notes! On the final day, the bell-boy came to our room (note that we had tipped a different bell-boy who had taken our cases to the room), but before he even touched a case, he was asking for money. We had run out of egyptian notes, but he had noticed a £10 note on the bed....so when we gave him coins, he kept begging us to give him notes. We had given him £6 of coins for gods sake! But he kept asking if we had notes....no way was I giving him £10! Eventually i said "give me back the coins and I'll go to reception and change some notes"....he soon changed his tune!

All the English families we met were really nice and friendly, but they were in the minority! It was mainly German & Russian guests....who are generally rude, ignorant and annoying. Courtesy, such as opening doors or smiling and saying hello to someone in a lift will usually get you dirty look! They also think nothing of pushing-in infront of you whilst getting food.

We would recommend visiting The Giftun islands (Mahmaya?) to enjoy time on a really nice beach etc.

We also hired the small glass-bottomed boat for 3 hrs on our own and went fishing and snorkelling....the "captain" was a really nice bloke.

The entertainment staff seem a lot friendlier to the germans etc, they tend to greet the English with cockney one liners and comment on us liking beer....which brings me to the next point!

Drinks - Poor! Beer is ok, but Vodka is awful...it is called 'Volga' and is indeed 'Vulgar!.
Cocktails weren't very nice either. I drank beer every night.....my wife hardly drank as she couldn't get a drink she liked.

In all though, we had a good holiday as my wife and I got to spend time with my son....we had a laugh, but I must admit, a lot of the laughs were about some of the Germans and Russians, with their weird swim-wear (thongs on old men and briefs pulled up the bum crack) and the fact that they would wear the same outfit night after night.....scruffy gets.
The Russians + new money = Gaudy!

We wouldn't return to this hotel, infact, we would only return to Egypt if it was a great deal and possibly in Sharm (to compare). We would rather fork out a couple of hundred quid extra and go to the Caribbean, where food and service is geared towards the Americans, who as we know, demand better standards.

But.......If we were to compare to major Spanish/Greek resort hotels of the same rating, then we would say that The Sunrise Holiday Resort is better value for money.

Stayed for 2 weeks in July. Hotel was nice and clean, with friendly staff. Meals were fine, but burnt our fingers a few times, as the metal containers were really hot. Vodka? no chance, tasted more like an aniseed drink. . Done a 2 day trip to Cairo, early morning start 2am, and at least a 9hr bus journey to get there, but it was well worth going on, infact it was the highlight of the holiday.

Wish we had taken a crash language course, in German, Italian,French and Polish, as there didn't seem to be many British people there.

Also suggest that you take a supply of toilet roll to carry about with you, most places we went to handed you a few sheets.

exellent very well run hotel

by TripAdvisor Member phoenix11

My wife and I both in our forties stayed here 21st - 28th jul and enjoyed the hotel very much.
CHECK-IN
After a surprisingly quick and efficient journey through customs and baggage collection at Hurghada airport we had just a short coach ride to the hotel and were again very pleased with the quick, efficient, and polite service we received at check-in.This left us with a very good first impression of the hotel and we were not to be disapointed during our stay.
ROOMS
Room was more than adequate, a decent size, very clean, everything working, and a nice sea view.
FOOD & DRINK
exellent, in fact best food we have ever eaten on a all inclusive holiday. and this was our 6th in the Med/Carribean.
Loads of choice and very high quality at all 3 restaurants and food even better at the A' la carte.
Snack bar on beach serves standard burgers, hot dogs, chips etc. but service a bit slow.
Drinks ok and if you are a beer drinker you will love the large 500ml ice-cold bottles of (Egyptian)Stella.
POOL & BEACH
Very well located pool with fantastic views over the Red Sea and with large area around it for sun beds and entertainment. The pool though is a little small for the size of the hotel.
The beach around the lagoon is ok and very safe for children but I would have preffered a proper beach.
Plenty of sunbeds all over the grounds but you may have to get up early if you want shade as well.
ENTERTAINMENT
Standard hotel stuff, ie: Local dancing one night a week otherwise silly games involving guests.Plenty going on during the day also with a full program of sports, games, aerobics, dancing etc.
All entertainment staff were exellent, very enthusiastic and fluent in several languages.
STAFF & SERVICE
What can I say, all the staff, cleaners, waiters, barmen, reception, were all very well trained, exellent at thier jobs and very polite.
The waiters in particular were superb and could spot an empty glass from a mile away. The table service we recieved at the A, la carte was very proffesional and the best we have ever experienced any where in the world.

CONCLUSION & TIPS
Overall an extremley clean and well run hotel.
Exellent base for scuba diving and snorkling or for just lazing round in the sun.
If you want to visit the sights of ancient Egypt however you would be much better off staying at Luxor or taking a Nile cruise as this hotel is just too far away, although you can book trips to the tombs, pyramids etc. if you don't mind the long hot coach journeys.
Another tip please only exchange a very small amount of money before you come as you will get a much better exchange rate at the hotel than in UK.

A fantastic holiday!!

Thomas Cook is the main one, we have now booked with them twice - going back there in less than 10 weeks - yay! :D If you're not fussy when you go - and from what I've been checking of the weather it seems great all year round - then ask the agent - whether you phone or go into a shop, to look for a good deal for you. They can point out to you when the cheapest dates are available and save you a few pennies!
