More about Dreams Beach Marsa Alam
Would not recommend this hotel
My wife and I are from Kyiv, Ukraine and we stayed in the Dreams Beach Hotel 10 days in mid-October. Unfortunately, our stay there was not as good as we expected.
The food was almost the same every day and it was not at all tasty. Some waiters in the restaurant did not speak English and show enough respect to women. Russian speaking tourists literally occupied the hotel and quite openly demonstrated their bad manners. There was an Internet room, but no access to Internet.
I was lucky to see two big eagle rays and a Napoleon fish near the jetty and some tourists claimed to have seen sharks and turtles. On the other hand, corals were very simple near the beach and we had to travel somewhere else to see big and beautiful corals.
We will keep good memories about nice people who work at the hotel bar and reception, on the jetty and in the hotel medical centre, but would not recommend that hotel if you are looking for a real 4-5 star hotel.
Dreams Beach..booked for a week chill out for January 2008. Overall I've got to say the Hotel itself, the staff, the beach, and the hotel grounds are great- absolutely no complaints at all. Really helpful service, the Italian restaurant is great (food not Italian but hey- its delicious)- HOWEVER be warned- the food in the all inclusive restaurant made us ill, it was cold/congealed, same old, boring- every day the same, most UK guests were ill at some point during the week. We did complain and they got a new chef towards the end of the week and it did improve- credit where credit is due-they acted upon the complaints but not in time for a ruined week. Still on a positive side I've got a great tan, met some lovely people and a had a week on the beach. (They will try and sell you stuff on the beach- we had motor safari, camel rides, horse rides, papers, massages all within an hour of arriving but they will leave you alone and are polite).
The entertainment -well they tried their best and the Animation team work VERY hard- but the Egyptian "artiste" in the lobby bar - well lets just say he has a very limited repertoire. Hands Up baby hands up-give me your heart gimme gimme..well thats the theme music to the holiday and if i never hear that again I'll be happy. Summarise- everything is about 3-4 * except the food and the entertainment which is absolute rubbish.
After booking are holiday 2 Dreams Beach we looked on trip advisor to find negative comments about the food, animation team and location. We found non of this 2 be true it was like they were writing about a different hotel. Six of us traveled aged 18-20 and we had a brilliant relaxing break away.
The staff are fantastic they cant do enough for you as soon as you have got an inch left in your drink a new one is brought and same with you plates as soon as you have finished your meal your plates are cleared. The animation team are fun, friendly and caring. They put on activites though out the day for example: yoga stretches, water aerobics and beach volly ball and football. Even though we did not have any small children with us we couldnot help but take notic of how good the kids club was. Every night the animation team put on entertainment....shows...quiz night...beach parties...karaoke and discos.
There were lots of negatice comments about the food so when we went for a first meal we did not know what 2 expect. We pleased to find the food fantactic ...fresh breads....soups...salads....pasta dished made to your liking right in frount of you...and a vast selection of desserts...the meals each night were different theams for example: Mexican, Italian, oriental ect. The childern had thee own area where the food would be more to there liking.
It was a member of are parties birthday while we were way so we booked into the alacart Italian restaraunt. The meal was lovely and all the waiters came out singing with a birthday cake. The night after we booked into the fish alacart restaraunt which was also at a great standerd with entertainment while you ate.
The hotel is beautiful all the grounds are well maintained everthing very clean. The main swimming pool is very large it is not as warm as the indoor pool but when its 36 degrees the pool is very refreshing.
There is two beached to chose from and you get acsess to the beautiful sea and corals from the jetty. You can borrow masks and snorkles form Mohamed for a small tip (the on sight shop was wanting £75 for 2 sets of masks and snorkels). The staff on the jetty are so help full one morning they took 16 of us 10 minutes on there speed boat to another coral free of charge as they wanted 2 show us the most beautiful corals.
one afternoon we took a quad bike trip into the dessert this is not 2 be missed. We all set out late afternoon and took a three hour adventure stopping off at a traditional Egyption small village where we drunk tea and watched the fantastic sun set. If we would had been there for two weeks we would had done that trip again.
The weather was fantastic for a full week we did not see one cloud the hottest day was 36 degrees not bad for march. I no that everybody in are party would go back 2 this resort we were made so welcome and had a unforgettable holiday.
nightmares beach, marsa alam
right here we go....lets start from the beginning...hotel grounds were loverly...the pools were fantastic...plenty of space...the reception was nice too...
THE ROOMS were nice when they got cleaned!!! our beds were not changed once during our stay...the shower was but a mere dribble of nothing...the best thing of the rooms was the tv!!!
THE POOLS were great plenty of space but be careful as not grouted properly and gets sharp on ur feet if u dont tread carefully! other than that they were great!
THE PIZZA/POOL BAR was nice but the cups they use...plastic tings were filthy! they did not get washed properly and has mouldy bits floating in them YUK! they served food there from 10.30am6pm and also crepes which were yum! the food was ok but quite cold there and the flies that landed on it were even worse! here you will be asked every time you get a drink why do u want it...jus say "because its the land of the sun" you will shock them and they will stop in their tracks and give you your drinks!
THE BEACH was nice we sat here i the beds for bout 2 hours got too hot then went to the pool as you cannot go into the water its a crazy sea that will start out 1cm deep just splashing as u paddle then it will be 2ft deep knocking u over...yes that happened!!!! the red flag was out the whole time and whilst we were there a german lad decided to ignore it and got very bad injuries to his body where he got swept back and forth by the violent tide in the sea....that was scary to see! there is a stool on the beach sellin little souviners like necklaces and bracelettes nothing amazing.
THE MAIN BAR called to tropicana bar was just as dirty as the beach bar..they will load the dishwasher...realize there are no glasses left the unload the dirty ones for your drink which like us i'm sure you would not touch and go to get the safest option...a bottle of water! alcahol they serve is so rough steer clear.
THE RESTAURANT called tropincana restaurant is like eating school dinners. cold mash...some beef in brown stuff....bones in food causing you to choke...and get this i even got served raw chicken yes raw chicken and thats not all...off fish...canelloni with mince that was not in date as it tasted like tuna so after 1 bite i stopped eating that...i did not stop having an upset tummy the whole holiday the same with my mohter and i also threw up several times from the food. again in this restaurant there are also flies on all the food. and this chef cooking you pasta that tasted like you were eating the starch water it was cooked in rather than sauce. overall if i cud have left the food on day 1 i would...i ended up living on bread and butter and watermelon...even the desserts were rough...just like splodge on a plate.
THE STAFF will not leave you alone they push and push until you finally yell at them to f*** off and leave you in peace. all you will get is "i want to marry you" and "your beautiful i go with you to england"...umm no you wont mate!! the room boys expect a tip and stand there looking blank when u refuse...we did because our rooms were not cleaned properly one bit...we lit insence sticks and for 4 days they did not clean up the ash...nor did they leave loo roll which really sucks when u have the [--] nor did we get clean towels!!! the animation team started the day with that annoying song by dj otzi 'hey baby' and they did sum kind of spanking dance with it which was very rude to me! also they blasted out music all day from there booth which was rather annoying when ur trying to relax...next that camel/horse dude would come over ad pester til you stand up and say 'look mate we are guna fall out soon'...after this its u will have a massage today or else...no thanx!!!
OVERALL i was relieved to see the bus when it came to pick us up!!!! that was the best part of the holiday! so basically if u like being harassed constantly and raw food come here otherwise steer clear...i will be complaining to the travel agents as i want compensation for this dreadful experience i only rated it as 1/5 as there was nothing lower!
After reading some of the reviews for this hotel and general destination I have to say I was very aprehensive about taking my family there but it was booked so no going back...!
We arrived at the hotel after a 40 minute coach ride from the airport and noticed imediatley it was a predominantly Russian choice of destination, more about that at the end....... Checking in was fantastically quick although I must say there were fewer people as it is slightly out of season. Our rooms were lovely, enough space for us and our 13yr old and a dividing door between the older two, thankfully it was quite sound proof! Beds are quite hard and pillows are like bricks, but you can ask for softer ones. The black out curtains were a god send. Satelite TV is in each room although we grew a tad bored of Dr.Phil (Dr. of the bleeding obvious) and films on loop. Still, we try not to spend too much time in the rooms...am on hols!
There are 2 beaches but we spent all our time on the smaller right hand side one. WARNING even out of season you have to get up at the crack of dawn to bag a spot! The beach is very shingly so we advise beach shoes (available in their shop, or free from the lounge attendant if you cut your foot, what a nice guy!) or just your flip flops should be OK. There is no direct access in to the sea from the beach - something the travel agent fails to say in their brochures (Thompson in my case) and you must not take ANY coral or shells as if stoped at customs you can be hit with a hefty £5000 fine. Respect the wildlife! You can go snorkeling off the jetty but be warned, RED flag - no go strong current YELLOW flag - not really advisable current quite strong GREEN - water is calm & safe (though we never saw one of these and 2 days out of 14 it was red) You can however sit at the waters edge and cool down that way. The right beach also has the beach bar, some of the bar staff bring you coctails...very strong ones!
There is a pizzaria lunch & snack bar, offering pizza (!) chips, pasta and crepes (very yummy) every day. Our travel agent said snacks weren't inclusive but they were so another positive!
The Noah restaurant serves a sea food 4 course meal which was gorgeous and in an excellent setting, open each Friday with a belly dancer as entertainment.
The Italian restaurant is available for 1 free visit per room/group. Excellent food and the menu changes daily.
The best by far....you MUST book in for the Bedouin meal available on a Monday. Amazing food and atmosphere under the canopy of a large traditional tent.
In all eateries the service and attitude of the staff is second to none.
There is only one buffet area and I have to admit by day 10 we were all 'rice and beefed' out so stagger the restaurants for variety.
The ONLY down side to this holiday was on the last day. A group of 'predominants' decided it was acceptable to throw our towels and kids toys off the sun loungers 'they wanted'. Unfortunately this is the behaviour in queues, at the bar etc....just ignore it and enjoy your holiday, WE DID!
Very relaxing stay at Dreams
My girlfriend and I stayed at Dreams resort the last week of October and both had a lovely time. I booked the holiday just under a week before we went which we hadnt done before. We were a little bit aprehensive after reading some reviews but thought we would give it a try!
The day before we went I rang the hotel and ordered a taxi which was waiting for us at the airport when we arrived. We werent sure whether it would be there as our flight was an hour and a half late but all was fine. It only took just over 20 minutes to the hotel though the taxi ride was a little on the scary side!
We arrived at the hotel and checked in quickly and the bags were taken to our room. The room was clean and plenty big enough for the 2 of us with a balcony facing the main swimming pool. The room was cleaned every day and various things made of towels left on the bed, even a crocodile one day which was very impressive!
The swimming pool area was very nice and we always managed to get the sunbeds we wanted although we were up fairly early each day to make the most of the sun as it was dark by 5pm.
People came round the pool on the first day selling papers and asking us about using the spa, camel rides etc but we told them we werent interested and they didnt bother us for the rest of the week except to say morning. I certainly didnt feel hassled in any way.
In our opinion possibly the only downside of the hotel was the food. Chicken or Beef was the main dish every day which was nice but got a bit boring! There wasnt much choice although the pasta bar was nice and made a little change. Though I guess on the upside we had no signs of illness and neither did any of the other people we spoke to which is possibly a bit unusual for Egypt!
This hotel is mainly full of Russians and I think the food reflected this. Incidently they seem to have no manners and think nothing of pushing in. Though I think the bar staff appreciated it when you said please as it only seemed to be the English who said it!
We just went for a relax and literally did nothing all week though we spoke to people who went to Luxor and Hurgahada, we just didnt fancy the travelling.
It was a lovley hotel to stay in for a week but we both said we didnt fancy 2 weeks there mainly due to the location and food. It literally is in the middle of the desert!
Holiday to forget
We stayed for one week at this hotel (thank goodness it wasn't any longer). Luckily we went with a group of friends so at least we were able to make our own entertainment. In no particular order the problems were:
- Wine was not available after 10pm (we even tried to buy it). My wife discussed this with the duty manager who promised to get back to her the day after with a reason. He never came near us again.
- Beer was OK during the day but mysteriously went flat and warm in the evening.
- Don't particularly like cocktails but when we did try them the juices ran out before the third glass.
- The buffet food was tepid, repetitive and poor quality. I eventually found a dirty microwave in the children's dining area to warm the food... which helped.
- All 7 of our party were ill during the holiday. The last time we visited Egypt, my wife went the whole two weeks without a stomach problem...this time she lasted 36 hours.
- The hotel was 30km from the nearest village and the only way we could get there was using transport booked by the hotel. Two taxis cost us €75 for a one hour visit.
- Because of the remoteness of the site we had to use the chemist attached to the hotel for the magic 'Antinal'. He charged me €5 for the first packet and when I went back the day after for three more he charged €10 each, insisting that he had made a mistake the day before. I bought some more at the village and guess what...they cost 5 Egyptian (about 50p)!
- In general (with one or two exceptions) the staff were surly and inattentive. On our previous visit to Egypt the service was one of the best aspects.
- There was supposed to be a heated pool but even the inside one (it had no roof) was freezing so for the first time ever we didn't use the pool on holiday.
It didn't help that the weather was poor, it even rained for a whole day, but I can't blame the hotel for that but believe me when that wind blows it's like a wet weekend in Blackpool.
In summary if you like good food and drink and being able to get out and about we would urge you not to go to this hotel.
A Nice Suprise
Having read the various mixed reports about this destination I did not know what to think or what we were going to find.
The Hotel was chosen by friends who in the end could not make it due to ongoing ill health so it was a done deal for the wife and I
All I can say is what a lovely resort very friendly very clean most attentive and all the good bits from the other reports.
Having travelled around usually independantly we went with a tour operator on an all inclusive deal so we were a bit worried about food etc
No problems Breakfast Fab, eggs any way you want them cooked fresh by your own Chef lots of bits to go with them plus Pastries to die for etc
Lunch either at the pool bar or back in the restaurant
Pool bar limited to Pizza Potatoes and Pasta Salad and Crepes and maybe a little chicken or beef dish
main restaurent the full monty various combinations of dishes salades plus a chef to cook you pasta and you pick your own ingredients.
Afternoon tea by the pool or beach cake rolls etc as we needed something to soak up the Brandy and coke and GTs then its time for Dinner and again you have a large selection from various fish dishes to beef checken etc followed by devine sweets , crepes suzette or banana flambed in brandy by the sweet chef
But remember it is Buffet style so dont expect top class restaurent style food although having said that we did have included in our deal a meal in the italian restaurent which was to a very high standard.
We also had a night in the fish restaurent ( set on the beach that is like a ARK that has washed up)This was the only extra we had and at 20Euros a head to include fabulous fish and wine from start to finish plus live entertanment it was a bargain.
For a week in the sun I just dont think it can be beat no problems with getting drinks etc. and clean beach towels everyday
Oh did I mention the free trips by road and boat to go snorkling at various bays where the coral and the fish were amazing.
Photos to follow I hope
P.S. Tip the guys who serve you a little once every day (we took US Dollar bills i.e. .50p) it keeps their attention plus they deserve it they work very hard
What more can I say we had a very enjoyable time and what started out with trepidation turned into a sad to leave situation
would we go back ?
Yep, tommorrow given the chance it was great. even the animation team didnt get on my nerves ,well not to much.

Having had the flu over Christmas we booked this holiday at the last moment (6 days before) having been to Egypt twice before we had no worries at all and packed to go and relax.
The rooms although large are tierd and the bathrooms are to be honest dirty.
The beach, grounds, and pool areas are all very nice and so are the staff no problems there.
The PROBLEM is the food it is with out a doubt the very worst we have ever had we were there at the same time as the reports from Hampshire and Blackburn we agree with every thing they said, they were the lucky ones we were ther for another week and then it really did get bad, we complained so many times about the food and warned them how dangerous it was.
On our last night my husband was ill again, we had both had tummy trouble in the first week but this was really bad, he was so sick all night that i took him to the doctors in the morning and he was put straight on to a drip and given antibiotic, something to stop him being sick and something to stop the dreadful stomach cramps, after an hour and a half and £175 !!!!!!! we went back to our room to pack and get ready to go home, the doctor had said he would be fine to fly.
On boarding the plane he started to have cramps again and within an hour he was being sick, he was ill for the entire 6 hour flight and the Captain had to radio ahead to Gatwick to get us met at the plane by Ambulance where he was taken off and straight to hospital, he stayed in for the night and had 5 bags of fluid, anti sickness injection, something to stop the cramps and Pethedine for the pain, he also had blood tests and his blood presure was high, dehydration can cause heart attack as well as kidney and liver problems and much more.
So many people were ill when we were there and i can only hope that people think VERY carefully before going to this Hotel.
Nice relaxing diving holiday
We did not read the reviews of the hotel before going, so the only thing I can say is that some of the comments are fair, but some others... we just didn´t experience them.
We went there with friends with their baby and we were wonderfully treated by the staff. One of the things we are surprised the most is their kindness and thier service. It is true they come with lot´s of offers but after you say no, then they do not come again.
I read some negative reviews related to the food, however we were delighted, we even ate salads! everyday was different kind of food (Oriental, Swiss, etc) with lots of vegetables (cooked and raw). My favourite day was the oriental dinner. Besides, they cooked a lot of Italian style stuff everyday withan a-la-carte service of pasta(I guess due to the big amount of italians in the hotel).
The only thing is not commented is the diving center and I guess they deserve a comment because we had a wonderful time with all the dives they organized; and we saw turtles, dugong and beautiful coral reefs; everyday in a different location with a short bus drive and with experienced italian instructors who helped us to get the most of this great holidays.

I have recently been told that if you are staying on the Dreams Beach Resort you can use the facilities of Dreams Vacation Resort next door. Does anyone know please what facilities we can use there eg, the bars, restaurants, pools etc. and is it still covered by your all inclusive bracelet from Dreams Beach or do you have to pay. We are due to travel to Dreams Beach in October.
Thanks for any help given
