Hi..I have booked a holiday for myself and 7 year old only to find tour operator has no taxi transfers..Can anyone advise how much I should be paying for a taxi to Brayka Bay Hotel Marsa Alam...Think it is around 30 mins from airport..Have tried several sites to no avail...Great start to my hol...am stressed out already!!!

A couple of years ago a friend took a limousine from the airport to Heliopolis and that was 50 L.E. (Egyptian Pounds – 1 L.E. is about a quarter - or – about 5 L.E. to one dollar CDN) I think at that time they were charging about 100 L.E. for downtown. And that is a limo all to yourself. Last year they started a new taxi service – aimed primarily at tourists – these are clean, recent model cars with air conditioning. They go strictly by the meter as opposed to regular cabs where you end up haggling the fare, and with a dirty old car that will very likely break down. My guess is a fare of about 100 to 150 L.E. from the airport to pretty well anywhere in Cairo is reasonable. The trick for the new taxi service is to drive you all over the place for a long time to get extra money.
