  • For the budget traveller, Egypt is an obvious destination, and every city has its fair share of inexpensive hotels. Of all the places I've stayed in Alex, the Hotel Leroy stands out as a unique & bizarre experience. Nestled on the top floors of an older office building, the rickety elevator releases the guest into a world reminiscent of the Titanic. The hotel is comprised of ballrooms and grand staircases and has a dining room that overlooks the city. A tuxedoed waiter tends to your breakfast needs.

    Great location: across from the Passport Office. The rooms are clean & large but rather dark - but, is still worth a visit. Very friendly staff.

    All of the rooms in the hotel have sea view on the Mediterranean sea. The balconies of the rooms not facing direclty the sea, face the sea in an angle, thus You can see the top of the neighbouring houses as well, which are not the most beautiful view...

    Our room was clean, decent, the bed was comfortable, but the furniture is not new, and the bathroom was nothing extra. There was no curtain around the shower, and the toilet paper roll is half the size of the European standard (in length) so probably if we had any stomach problems, we would have run out of it. But we were OK on that front. Hot water was not really hot, it was warm allright, but not hot.

    Count at least a minimum of 30 minutes for breakfast, as they prepare it slowly. The breadsticks and the cheese we got were tasty. The view from the restaurant is very nice, overlooking the sea.

  • Rooms a little bit less attractive then Crillon Hotel which is next door. wt and without bathroom.
    Balcony with nice view of the meditranean sea. (ask for room with a good view)

    Double paid : EGP65 + breakfast+bath

    No restaurant.

    We were immediatly attractied to the hotel by the location and then reading their website it sounded like we were going to be in for a treat. Its actually a short wlk from the train station but we kind of got lost and by tthe time we got there we were both drenched in sweat. Arriving at the door to the hotel the security guards didn't believe we could actually be guests so didn't open the door and then check askeing us if it was really the hotel we had come for! Anyway we struggled to the reception with our bags and went through the formalities. Finally a welcome drink came but when I went to take it both tipped off the tray on to me!. What a welcome. Worse still there was no apology! There was no suggestion that they might launder my clothes. Feeling really ticked off we headed for our room. We had a sea facing room which had a nice view but don't even try to open the french doors as the noise is deafening. The room itself was nice and I tried to put the awful "welcome" behind us. The location is one of the main selling points of the hotel but don't kid yourself that you can stoll accross the road for a promenade along the Corniche as the traffic is terrible and crossing the Corniche requires a series of quick manouvers and alot of courage. Having said that its pretty close to walk to the library and there are many coffee shops and restaurants near by.

    I did like the hotel, good service.
    The service and the food, in an italian restaurant, in the hotel was very good.

    The view from the balcony was beautiful. The Montazah palace area is just around the corner from the hotel.

  • Well we were guests for 3 weeks prior to finding permanent accom. Rooms where compact, the mini bar fridge smelt really bad like it had never been cleaned.The kettle smelled like someone had cooked in it. dont expect much if you are taking children there, the playground has one swing.
    A plus is its location, if you stay ask for a room facing the sea and you wont hear the mosque in the early hours.

  • My stay was fine in the hotel. Its location is great and you can eat in more than 1 location in the hotel. They have a swimming pool that is not very big. at night they have one of the best discotheques in Alexandria called Aquarious.
    Their only problem is the service and the maintenance of the rooms.

    Sea view.
    The opposite end from city center.

  • Good staff willing to make the most of your stay. nicely appointed room, if not big. Nice view over the sea and the nearby gardens of King Farouk. Single room (via internet) USD 85.

    Hotel car park: LE 11 (not a lot of money, but a little annoying, also because the parking attendants require you to leave with them two "IDs" as some sort of security).

    Just everything as you'd want it to be.
