It is considered one of the best in Alexandria. Initially it was built to host An Arab Summit. It is located inside Monataza ever green lovely gardens.
my stay was intersting there. the hotel is in the middle of a very spacious gardens that once belonged to the king of Egypt. The hotel building is located on the sea with very nice water view. They have rennovated the hotel now and looked rich.
The location of the Hotel is its best asset. Their beach is very small and should have been bigger.
I stayed at the Hotel Palestine in Aug. 2007 (not on most recent trip). It is gorgeous and have always the hotel, it's location beyond the park at Montazah, the hotel's entertainment area/garden, and beach side.
The downside was that I pre-booked on the Internet. When I arrived, reception would not recognize the booking even with the print-out. Kept asking for my "voucher" as they are only used to bookings through agents. It took 2 hours to sort out at beginning of the stay and then again 2 hours at the end, and they insisted on doublecharging me. Many phone calls later, once home I finally got the other charge removed. The confrontational receptionists were a pain. THe manager wasn't apparently high enough up to do anything. Yikes!
After all that, the room was lovely with a view, and has a historic feel - not huge. Best area is the seaside. The common areas of the hotel are wonderful. Also a pretty great breakfast (huge)
I spent my honeymoon at the Palestine Hotel. What I loved about this hotel is that it is in the beautiful compound called Montazah which is where the King of Egypt had his palace. Montazah means 'garden' and that's what you get. You walk through the gardens and feel like you have been transported back in time. Quiet and clean. Views from your hotel room are of the Mediterranean Sea crashing against the shore. A small cove where swimmers can swim safely is at the back of the hotel. Lovely!
This wonderful hotel is set in the old grounds of Montazah Palace It has its own private beach and also a large pool area My room had a large balcony over looking the sea The rooms are large and well appointed
