Small hotel with a good price

This hotel is located on the other side of the nile river in the suburb of Doqqi, although it’s not a long walk to the city centre. The only downside is you’ll have to walk through a bad traffic especially at the midan roundabouts, where main roads merge. Cars won’t stop to give pedestrian a chance to cross the roads.. at all.

The hotel was fine. It was run by a family so their staffs were informal towards each other. Facilities were good. Small reception counter, lobby full with mirrors on the wall which made it look bigger, bright and welcoming.

Breakfast was the same everyday; toast, eggs, olives, Egyptian bread.

I use HotelClub.net

We checked into Concorde, Dokki area of central Cairo for our last few hours in Cairo before heading off to the airport for our flight home. (See my separate album to see photos of the fridge in our room)!

As a base, it is fine - but the official rating of 3* hotel is a bit ambitious, I feel.

I stayed at Osiris Hotel near American Univ of Cairo, close to Midan Tahrir downtown area. Highly recommended budget option - clean rooms and toilets, crisp linen and towels and great service from owners themselves - Nabil and his
French wife Josiane. Not surprisingly, it's very popular with French tourists.

I paid US$ 25/night for a single room, and I believe they have rooms good for 4 or more. I booked through Travellerspoint (www.travellerspoint.com). You may also check out the reviews on Osiris Hotel at tripadvisor website (www.tripadvisor.com) - that's where I learned about this hotel. It's a budget place, but I'm not sure how much do you mean by "reasonably priced."
