MENA HOUSE SWIMMING POOL by trotador I really recommend this hotel becasue is right at the pyramids of Gizah, check the picture. This luxury hotel has all the amenities, falilties and services. Oberoi is an Indian chain it was built originally as a hunting lodge by the King of Egypt.
The main building is an old palace with the best rooms and views. Then, there is another area crossing a garden (new area very simple) with rooms with view to the pyramids and other views. For me the best experience is to swimm in the swimmingpool watching the pyramids. It has different restaurants, not too expensive... a French with life music, an Indian with live Indian music and different restaurants for a quick bite.

Maadi Hotel by Diana75 The Maadi Hotel is located in Maadi district, near the Nile, in a residential area. The hotel has 16 floors, a swimming pool and a fitness center on the top terrace. It is rated 4* although the rooms’ furniture and fittings are quite old. Still the staff is very polite and friendly. The lucky ones might receive a room with the view on the Pyramids (from the 7th floor up). For a couple of days in Cairo in order to explore the city, it is a convenient choice. Shell, Alison, Lin, Rakhyia and Alia by shelnlin In my Egypt pages I wrote about the Victoria Hotel which we stayed in whilst in Cairo (please refer to this tip for more information). This affordable Hotel is an old fashioned styled Hotel that George Bernard Shaw used to frequent when he came to Cairo. Yes it may be a bit older than some of the more up market and upbeat Hotels around but the rooms are spotlessly clean and are regularly serviced each day and they are large in size. If you like Old worlde charm which isn't falling apart but beautiful big staircases and mahogany furniture than this could be the Hotel for you. Breakfast is included in the price and is a wonderful array of cold meats, cereals, jam, toast, salad vegetables, fruit, eggs, rolls, bread and so on and of course tea, coffee and juice. It has a great downstairs lounge where guests can sit and relax after a busy day's sightseeing, there is also a outdoor area where you can sit as well as another "sunroom" style lounge room. Off to the side is a fully equipped bar and a Cyber cafe, Hairdresser's, Currency exchange and Gift shop.
This Hotel is a real treasure and I was grateful to come back to it after the hussle and bussle of Cairo city. It's lounge was a great way to meet other guests and some we have kept in touch with to this day. The doorman was very helpful and we didn't mind giving him a tip as he had good general knowledge and could speak English reasonably well. The hotel is centrally located and makes a great base to get to all the Tourist attractions. Five days of sheer bliss. The room was clean. We had a beautiful balcony with table and chairs for a relaxing morning wakeup. Coffee service in the room, small wet bar, large TV, computer on the TV, double shower heads, 750 count Egyptian cotton sheets, and down comforters. Five restaurants on the hotel grounds with great food, served buffet style in three, menu service in two. Two outdoor cafes for a light lunch or late dinner. Piano bar in the main entry (great music), three gift shops, two jewelers, two banks and one casino on the premises. Large clean outdoor pool, indoor saunas and jacuzzi, exercise room, masseur, beauty salon. Good lord, I didn't want to leave. Great security with an x-ray machine at the main door.
You can see the pyramids of giza from the hotel. Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: po box 70, Pyramids, Giza, Cairo, EgyptPhone: +20 (0) 238388 300Website: ic.pyramids@intercontipyramids.com

by lotharlerch This hotel (built at the turn of the century) was long used as a British Colonial Officers Club and has preserved much of the atmosphere. The rooms are OK, the staff is very friendly and the breakfast (tea and toast) is exactly that little what you can eat after the unavoidable digestion upsets have hit you.
The remarkable charactereistics of this place are its very central location (one Metro stop away from the Railway station and two Metro stops from the Egyptian Museum. A hidden gem is the very stylish bar, one of the rather rare opportunities to have a beer in Cairo..

Breakfast at mena House by SabrinaSummerville From the moment we entered the gilded lobby of the Mena House, we felt like royalty in a truly palatial environment. Unfortunately, our travel agent had booked us into the newer garden wing - if I were staying again I would reserve a room in the original Palace (I mean, why stay in a palace and bunk in the garden!). The restaurants and public areas are in the main located in the palace and are opulent and spectacular. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and welcoming. The staff are nice, if a little officious. On the first morning we were assured at reception that residents didn't need a reservation for dinner in the main restaurant (where there is a floor show each night) - but we were bitterly disappointed that evening to be told that there were no good tables left n the restaurant! I was disappointed in the pool area as all of the pool was deep, there was no shallow end, and thus noplace that you could wallow in the searing heat. Also, because it's located in a garden there are more flies than youmight tolerate.
Wherever you go in the hotel the pyramids are visible in the public areas - both from the windows on the public rooms, and also from the gardens. It was wonderful. This is a fly over view of the hotel by ATXtraveler During Sarah and I's trip to Egypt, we spent a couple nights in Cairo at the Sheraton. It was a very nice welcome to Egypt, and I must say this was up to Sheraton's standards. This hotel has a very convienent location for activities in downtown Cairo, and it is a bus or cab ride away from the pyramids in Giza. The bed was nice, the restaurant for breakfast served great food, and the hotel casino was the icing on the cake.
The casino here definitely made this hotel a unique place to stay. The hotel will not allow Egyptian citizens to play in this casino, so it really is just for visitors and hotel guests. The players were quite unique, as they came from all over the world. I sat next to a Saudi, a Jordanian, a Canadian, and a Dutch gentelman all at the same table!

Egypt is loaded with hotels and finding a top quality hotel in Cairo for a decent price is not easy to do despite the number of hotels in the city. Its large rooms have clean sheets and an AC and they even have a private washroom. Shared bathrooms are so clean they gleam. There is also a clean kitchen that travellers can use and if you stay more than four nights you get free airport transport. The staff is really friendly and informative making this one of the best options in the city.
Staff, free airport transport if you stay more than four nights (must if you want to really explore Cairo) and access to kitchen. The washrooms are brilliant.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. New, altough it appears dusty and old on the outside. Clean and cheap (40-50 EGP). I never stayed overnight in the hotel, but was left with a good impression. My partner and I left our backpacks for the day. We were even offered to take a shower when we came back. No charge.
