Cairo's Best Hotel

If you are seeking a luxurious trip to Egypt, then the Four Seasons Hotel is the only place to stay. Yet you have a choice of two in Cairo! This tip is for the Nile Plaza one, located in Garden City (as opposed to the First Residence one, located in the Giza part of Cairo). I stayed at the Nile Plaza in April 2007 and the hotel proved to be as great as any Four Seasons around the world. The hotel is complete with restaurants, bar, spa, fitness centre, and a luxury department store. No complaints, but it is definitley more expensive than other five start hotels in Cairo.

The Best of the Best... world class 5 stars

Ok, after trying to save some $$$ at the Mariott (read my other hotel tip) I got fed up and check out and asked to be taken here to The Four Seasons at Nile Plaza......wow what a world of change....from the minute you walk in, you know your in elite company...the lobby is perfectly designed, there isn't 10,000 people in the lobby, the air is clean. Everyone greets you with a smile.
We asked for a room on the executive floor, A room with a king bed was not available but they offered to sqeeze 2 very large double beds together to make a SUPER KING and we took the offer. Our room had a seperate living room and very nice and clean bathroom. To access the floor you must place the room key into the elevator slot and only the floor you are on will be allowed access too.
Security is huge here, cars approaching the hotel are asked to turn there engines off, open the trunk as 2 dogs sniff the sides and an armed guard check with a mirror for expolsives. Once at the top of the drive way guest must pass thru a metal detector and place bags into a x-ray machine like those similar to an airport.
Everything was perfect here, the rooms, the staff, the REAL conceirge, everything....
Only down side pricey isn't the word....VERY EXPENSIVE !!!!!!!! we paid $325 US dollars a night plus 25% TAX !!!!! WOW !!!!!! almost $400 US a night !!!!!!!
But that was my fault for trying to be cheap we ended up paying with our time and comfort...... well worth the $400 a night would do it again NO PROBLEM !!!!
Is this the best hotel in Cairo ???? Could be ????? Or is it the other Four Seasons in Giza ???? but plain and simple can't go wrong with the FOUR SEASONS HOTELS, if you can afford it don't hesitate !!!!!!!

Very glamorous overlooking the Nile

I went there for a business meeting and lunch on my many travels into Cairo. Very elegant as soon as you walk in, with the huge vases of exotic flowers. Actually felt like I was among the elite of the international world, which was a strange feeling. The staff are very, very friendly (being a Four Seasons, I'm sure they were told to be so).

The steak house upstairs is quite nice, probably one of the best steaks I dared to eat whilst in Cairo. Quite pricey, but you're paying for corporate quality.

The air of the place is quite pretentious though (again, corporate quality), filled with rich people pretending to be somebody, and even if they were, they weren't hiding it.

Unique Quality: The views of the Nile are amazing, but I prefer those in the Grand Hyatt, which is just opposite. I wouldn't suggest driving to this hotel during the day - as anyone in Cairo will know, the traffic is a nightmare, and I'm quite sure I've seen my life flash before my eyes quite a few times.

I would really suggest this hotel for those who want to experience Cairo in style. If luxury is really not your thing, then avoid this hotel like tapped water in the city.

A good luxury hotel

I generally like Four Seasons. This one in Cairo is also nice, although I liked the Mena House better. Rooms have great views of the city. The breakfast is tasty. The location is quite central.

Unique Quality: Generally good. Nothing spectacular, though. Internet is very expensive at the hotel.

Very nice hotel

We had a very nice stay at the Four Seasons. The hotel was built Nov 2004. The staff was friendly and facilities were very nice.

Unique Quality: The Four Seasons has alot to offer. They have a lap pool, and indoor pool and an outdoor pool. Severl hot tubs, steam rooms, etc. ((Spa) It offers a very nice workout room overlooking the Nile along with sperate lounges for men/women to relax in.

Best Hotel in Egypt!

by Bavavia about Four Seasons Hotel-Cairo at First Residence

This hotel was well worth the money. It is somewhat costly compared to other hotels, but you get your money's worth here. When I arrived, I went to the reception and they already had my paperwork out and ready! not sure how they knew I was coming next, but everything was ready and I was checked in in about 3 minutes! The service is exceptional...as a guest you are treated like royalty! they will do anything and everything to make your stay special. They replace the towels a few times a day.....replace everything ( soaps, etc) at least 3 times a day. The rooms are nice and comfy and so quiet.....the bed was the ultimate in comfort and the pillows.......so comfortable, I just sunk in all those pillows.......It was pure luxury.... I had a massage on my first night.....very nice, overlooking nile ( big glass tinted windows, full length windows overlooking nile...it was just fabulous...... so relaxing...... the food was excellent, there is a mall called "First Mall" connected to the hotel too......everything is top rate....nothing can compare... Service is unprecedented......they attend special training for several months just to learn the service that this hotel requires...If you are alone and in their restaurant, they bring you reading material......In the morning, i needed a telephone call to be made very early , actually before I even woke, and they planned that for me and made that call for me so i didnt have to worry about getting up to do it myself.....room service was no extra charge ( if you have your room on bed and breakfast)......I had to get room service at 4 am and that was no problem..

Simply The Best

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at the Four Seasons Cairo at Nile Plaza in April 2006. It was simply the best hotel we've stayed at. We booked a premiere nile view room.

The accommodations were excellent. The room was very clean and the service was impeccable. The cleaining staff were very polite and paid attention to every little detail when cleaning the room. The room view was excellent. We had a view of both the nile and the pyramids.

There is an indoor and outdoor pool, both very well maintained. Both pools also had a jacuzzi. The pool area was quiet and relaxing.

Food at the hotel was also great. We had breakfast and lunch at the Zeitoni restaurant. It is a buffet style restaurant that had many many items. If you have lunch there, save room for the dessert buffet which has some of the best middle eastern desserts I have ever had.

Finally, Security at the hotel was good. All the staff were very polite, helpful and welcoming. No one acted like they were waiting for a tip.

Overall, a great hotel. We would DEFINITELY stay there again and we look forward to that.

Cairo Four seassons nile plaza

We spent 5 fabulous night in this modern palace .Best service we ever had so much in line with what we have been accustomed to expect from Four seasons. The food is the highlight of this stay ,the Nile plaza has 7 restaurants one better than the other.Spice the cantonese restaurant is as god as any we have tried in Hong Kong.
The staff is just perfect ,great usage of our names throughout the stay .any attention to details is just incredible.
The only place to stay in Cairo.

Magnificant

by TripAdvisor Member JPMZ

During a recent trip to Egypt we stayed at both Four Seasons hotels in Cairo. The Four Seasons at Nile Plaza is the better of the two. We got a comp upgrade to a suite on the 29th floor (just lucky) facing the Nile - it was heaven. The service was definitely up to Four Seasons standards. Security which is tight all over Cairo is even tighter at the Four Seasons especially the day Mrs. Mubarak spoke at a gathering there. The nice thing is that the hotel staff took just as good care of us American tourists and they did the many "important" people who were staying there.

Not the Four Seasons Service

by TripAdvisor Member EsBu

We stayed at the Four Seasons at the Nile Plaza in April 2006. The hotel was nice but the management is poor. (e.g. we found the window cleaner sleeping on our balcony) The service is not as personal as in the Four Seasons ,First Residence, Cairo. The swimming pool looks nice but it only gets sun till 13.30 (in April)

cairo trafic and alexandria sea

by georgt

so, after long saying I finally got to desination, a tip for the new coming travellers, beware of the trafic in Cairo, it can be dreadful, almost two hours took me from the airport to cross the city by bus, because I was heading to Alexandria, nevertheless the driver told me that in days like that one, it would take easily the same time to reach downtown, maybe a taxi can go faster, but I am not sure.
I am in alexandria now,in one day I visted almost all the sightseens ths city has to offer to tourist, Alexandria is a nice city fronting the sea shore, probably the only place in whole egypt where you can really eat mediterranean fresh fish that you can chose directly from the fish market.

Re: cairo trafic and alexandria sea

What time of day were you making this trip across Cairo? I'm going to be staying there for one night before moving on to Alexandria by train--wondering whether I should stay close to the airport, or try to get into the city so I can be closer to the train station in the morning?

Re: cairo trafic and alexandria sea

by leics

Cairo is an absolute nightmare in traffic terms (see my Cairo page/tips for details). Even Fridays are extremely busy. Best stay near to the railway station, or at least in central Cairo.

Re: cairo trafic and alexandria sea

by travelmad478

Thanks leics. Which would take more time: (1) driving from the airport to the Four Seasons Nile Plaza, right downtown, at about 5 PM on a Tuesday, or (2) driving from the City Stars mall to the train station at 6:30 AM on a Wednesday?

I'm tempted to do #1 just because we won't have to wake up as early to catch our train. But then I am also tempted to do #2 because we'll be flying all the way from the US to Cairo and the last thing I want to do is sit in a car for two hours at the end of that!

Re: cairo trafic and alexandria sea

Actually I think I will put this question to the main Cairo forum for some more responses from VTers there. leics, you and I seem to have about the same amount of experience in Cairo, which is to say, not much beyond knowing that the traffic is bad! No offense, but I need some expert advice :-)
