The Hilton Cairo World Trade Center is located in downtown Cairo on the east bank of the Nile River. We picked this hotel because we were traveling as a family (two parents, a grandparent, a 2 year-old and a 7 year-old). The idea was to get a spacious room with some space for the kids to spread out, separate sleeping areas and a small kitchen for convenience cooking etc. This is not like any Hilton hotel at which you have ever stayed. It is more like a giant apartment building with a nice pool, a nice restaurant, and a hotel-type lobby. The room was HUGE and had a full-sized living room and dining room, an office, and two bedrooms (one king and one with two doubles). The office also had some sort of bed in it. There was easily room for 7 or 8 people in this place comfortably. There was also a full kitchen with a refrigerator. Each room has a huge balcony with chairs and a nice view of Cairo. Our room overlooked downtown and we had a nice view of the Omar Makram Mosque. Our side windows had Nile views.
The apartment set us back $300 per night but was worth every penny and included a full (and filling breakfast) and dinner ordered from the menu including drinks. The hotel also had a great pool overlooking the Nile. If you are in a small group or money is no object this is the way to go. The other cool thing was that the hotel was right next to a normal residential area and I was able to do grocery shopping (sodas, milk, cookies, chips, candy, fruit etc) at a local grocery market and keep it in the room. The local market was very inexpensive. Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averagePhone: 002 02 580 2000
