One of Egypts best

Egypt is loaded with hotels and finding a top quality hotel in Cairo for a decent price is not easy to do despite the number of hotels in the city. Its large rooms have clean sheets and an AC and they even have a private washroom. Shared bathrooms are so clean they gleam. There is also a clean kitchen that travellers can use and if you stay more than four nights you get free airport transport. The staff is really friendly and informative making this one of the best options in the city.

Unique Quality: Staff, free airport transport if you stay more than four nights (must if you want to really explore Cairo) and access to kitchen. The washrooms are brilliant.

Best Budget Guesthouse

I booked the hotel via hostelworld.com. Location of the hotel is right in the middle of downtown. Good point, you can just walk a few minutes to The Museum. Not very good point, it can be very busy during the day (But I found it was fun chaos anyway)

Room is clean, Bathroom, Toilet clean. Aircon didn't working very well but I didn't have any expectation so I'm not complaning or anything. I could sleep well there. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Hotel itself is on top floor (4th or 5th.. don't remember) of old building (which again, I liked it) building itself is not clean, quite rusty. But the hotel is clean. I dind't dare to use the elevator at first. But after a few rounds of walking up and down. I used it anyway! (wasn't that bad actually..hehe)

Unique Quality: It's located right in downtown. Very convenient. Good price, nice staff, good service, not big hotel so you can feel the city more than staying in luxuy places I think.

Budget hotel in central Cairo

I stayed there 3 nights and the price was 14USD incl. breakfast. This is the place to stay if you want to be close to downtown, only 400m from Talat Harb Square.
Located in 5th floor , the rooms are clean and with aircondition (not all the rooms) . Internet is available for LE5 (30 minutes)

Unique Quality: If you want peace ask for a room away from the street . If you like noise then theres a great view of Talat Harb St from the windows.

Best Budget Hotel

Clean, with or without bathroom. Staffs r helpful and friendly. Got our room for 96EGP double with bathroom + breakfast.

Rooms facing the Talat harb st can be very noisy at night, ask for rooms facing the back.

Unique Quality: Nice View of Talaat Harb St from balcony

In the midst of it all

Stayed at the Luna for 8 days. Very good value for the price. THe breakfast of three breadloaves, 1 pat butter, 1 jam and a hard boiled egg, plus one tea or bad coffee (did not drink, just looked at) got a bit old after the second day.

Room with OK AC, you aint gonna freeze, had a small room in the back, which is probably easier to cool than those that overlook the street and are noisy.

Great laundry service, very cheap.

Water (1.5 L for 2 P) available.

Good shower and scalding hot water.

Scary elevator. Great location.

I give it four Pyramids.

Unique Quality: Single Room with Bath and AC: $ 13.46 per night

Free Airport pickup if staying more than 4 nights, but you have to pay for airport parking + of course a tip!

They also have opened a hostel section as well, will report on this after my return.

Visiting Cairo .Luna Hotel

by olter

Hi everyone!
I`m making my way to Cairo in 2 weeks. I`ve booked a hotel via on-line reservations. It looks cozy and clean, but i didn`t manage to find any opinions about it. Does anyone know this hotel, maybe passed by at least:)?
And one more question: how much is underground in Cairo? And is it possible to get to Pyramides (Gyza) by metro?
Thanx in advance.

I would advise to take the airconditioned public bus even from the airport, Helipolis, Nasr City, Ramsses square, Tahrir Squar to the Pyramids (HARAM) it is LE 3 (three egyptian pounds)= about US$ 0.75 the whole way. The Metro is 75 piasters but the half way.
Best of luck
Welcome to Egypt :x

Cairo is such a experience you will love it the hotel Via is grate you can see the Pyramides from there you are going to love it. If you are going on bus to Cairo you will stop at this small outdoor place for some food its not the best but filling. When travelling up to cairo if you look pass al the rubbish and dirt you will then see the true way of life that the people their live even if it makes you cry.

Hope you have a great time from Steph
