Staff went above and beyond ... except
We stayed 3 nights in a two bedroom suite and I must say I could not find a complaint (a rare event my wife will tell you) we often have some special needs when we travel and the hotel went above and beyond in every regard with maybe two minor annoyances. We were departing on an early flight to Turkey and wanted to have something to eat. The business lounge on our floor was open for dining so we went to have some breakfast, after paying over $2000 for a hotel room it was somewhat insulting to be charged $20 for breakfast. Second, the conceirge who should know everything about the city was completley unable to provide us with any direction or assistance other than to recommend the mall in the hotel for anything we requested.
On the up side, our view of the Nile and Cairo from the 18th floor was grand, and when we arrive late from Canada the restaurant was still serving and the food was outstanding. Again, the hotel staff ensured that every request we had for the room was met quickly and with good cheer.

Great hotel
This hotel is an excellent, centrally located hotel. The service is efficient, breakfast delicious, and the rooms are very comfortable and clean. The hotel is located about 3 blocks from the Egyptian Museum and the main square, Midan Tahrir and is right off the Nile. The morning breakfast was always ample and delicious with a nice combination of Egyptian and Western favorites (my daughter and I got addicted to the fuul (fava beans)). The Italian restaurant in the hotel was also good with excellent pizzas and pastas and a fair price and fantastic view and ambience. The room was very comfortable with an excellent view from the balcony of the river (even though it was considered a city view room) as well as Midan Tahrir with its orchestrated chaos.

The only thing worth coming to this hotel for is the Bird Cage Thai Restaurant. This is one of the best restaurants I have been to in Cairo.
The rooms are quite dingy. The bed spread smelled musty like body odor and the carpets were filthy.
The gym and pool are nothing to speak about. I paid 250 LE for an hour massage from a woman whose nails were too long and didn't seem to have any formal masage training.
The parking staff needs to be trained in customer service. Make sure you park your car yourself or you may find your car with extra dents from being pushed around by hand (into other vehicles or walls) in the over crowded lot.
Unique Quality: The locker room at the gym looked like a smaller version of my high school locker room built in 1974.

Centrally Located
Visited 9/2005. Room spacious and well appointed, with balcony. Hotel elegant, with international flair. Has several restaurants with various cuisines. Lobby has shopping arcade. If you do not smoke, request a non-smoking floor. Very convenient location right on the Nile, and near Egyptian Museum, American University in Cairo, and US Embassy. Would definiely recommend this Hotel.
