Overlooking The Nile
When I checked out this hotel’s website I was a little confused – how could it have just 160 rooms yet be a tower block? However, it does indeed stand 16 floors above the Nile and the rooms are well spread out to make the most of the available views - the Nile from the fron and The Pyramids from the back.
My room was on the fifth floor, looking across the Nile and down on the pool. Yes, the front of the hotel is noisy with traffic, but it didn’t bother me at all – I still managed to fall asleep by the pool with great ease.
The room was comfortable and spacious with twin beds and plenty of wardrobe space. There were very few clothes hangers, but I plan to ask for more and see what happens. Towels were thick, fluffy and plentiful, as were toiletries.
I was rather disappointed in the balcony as, although furnished with cane table and chairs, they were covered with thick dust. I accept that a lot of dust is to be expected from the traffic on the busy road before, but there was way too much dust for the balcony to have been recently cleaned. I Later larned that there were dust and sand storms while we were here, which probably explains a lot.
The staff are superb – helpful, anxious to please, always trying to anticipate your needs.
The Pullman bar is a great place to go for a drink, and there's live music four nights a week.
There are several restaurants to choose from and a courtesy bus service to the City several times a day.
The hotel has its own casino and a spa which appears to be used by guests and visitors alike.
Unique Quality: The view of the Nile at The Corniche is hard to beat.

Maadi , where civilizations meet 6000 years ago
The BEST of the Best , you will find there that the view of the NILE itself is so so enough , the place there is filled with nice feelings , the pyramids are viewed from there , they're 15 minutes from here , the people there are egyptians and forgieners , you will not find any problem with language , because all languages are here
Unique Quality: to see the Pyramids' tops in the morning while you drink the morning tea , and to see the pyramid top in the night while the light there make it MARVELLOUS

A "five star" hotel??
I stayed there for only a night in April 2004. I was told by my teachers that it was a 5 star hotel, so I was looking forward to it. However, when I arrived it seemed to be more like a 2 star hotel in Hong Kong...
There was a long walk to the hotel room which was annoying, but there was a pleasant garden/balcony area near the pool which was all very well maintained.
The lobby had shops, restaurants and a cake shop, all way overpriced, plus a dodgy currency exchange place.
We had breakfast at the hotel, buffet style. It was ok, medium sized selection, good cakes and pastries quite basic.
Unique Quality: You could see the Pyramids from the hotel room window/balcony.
They provided candles and matches to have an evening on the balcony.
Sunbathing by the pool at the Sofitel Maadi Towers, I took a walk around the pool area and looked onto a vacant lot next door. Lo and behold, here was a little old man lighting a fire and getting his meal ready for the evening. He slowly walked to the battered old bit of a couch and lowered his apparently weary limbs to wait for the pot to boil. I realised that he lived there! Much of Cairo is so successful and attractive these days that you forget that poverty does indeed still exist.
Atmospheric Little Place
by SabrinaSummerville about Little Italy
Little Italy is the name given to the Italian restaurant situated in the little shopping mall to the rear of the Sofitel Maadi.
It's very prettily decorated in a true Italian style and there's live guitar music every night.
The food, too, is quite delicious and amazingly inexpensive.
I started with beef carpaccio which was perfectly served with slivers of parmesan.
This I followed with a pizza - simple, tasty, and perfect.
Service was prompt and very pleasant and when the bill came it made the meal all the more tasty because of its reasonableness.
The Hotel itself is used quite a lot by business travellers, and accordingly so is the restaurant. I highly recommend the pizza.
