Originally built in 1869 as a palace for the French Empress Eugenie, this gorgeous hotel in a tranquil setting on an island in the Nile remains fit for royalty, its rooms are fully equipped. Two modern towers encapsulate a lush garden with pool and ornate golden palace facade—a truly magical place at sunset. The rates drop substantially in summer. In 2003, ask about the special 25th Anniversary rates available.
Many tourism professionals consider the Marriott one of the finest examples of western style hotels in Egypt. So many of these show little in the way of Egyptian architecture, but the Marriott stands out among chain hotels as a splendid example. It makes one feel that they are indeed, in Egypt.
