 | Lalibela Reviews | Tips 11 - 20 of 20 | | Stayed there for two nights. Built in the 70's by Haile Sellasie regime, the setting is very nice and the restaurant / bar services are quite good. The room stayed in was very adequate. Standard government hotel. The price is a bit pricy but still when you convert to Euro or Dollar, does not seem to be that much.

You can camp here for $10 or for the same price you could stay en-suite in a budget hotel here. This place seems to be foreign owned and comes up with some sill prices sometimes. They have been known to quote over $100! See if you see a pool or even vegetation in the photos. I would give this a miss and stay in one of the other adjacent hotels with nice gardens. I didn't stay here, but did use the resteraunt so did look into the rooms. The best view, cleanest rooms, warmest water etc in Lalibela. $26 twin room, worth the extra spend Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Right in the middle of town

I stayed there 2 nights in Jan 08. The hotel room was among the best I had during my trip to Ethiopia. Nevertheless, the wall between rooms is made with local building material (understand mud and wood) and has poor insulation especially against noise. The bathroom is as usual but here they are a bit bigger than usual but there is only a water boiler for two bathroom so if you are not lucky enough to be in the room having the boiler, the flow of hot water can become a problem. The nice garden can work adversely during the rainy season attacting a lot mosquitoes and other insects.
Very good unique restaurant opposit the entrance. Close to the track to go up to Ashetan Maryam Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageDirections: up town !

This is a cheap but clean place 5-10 min walking from the Churches. I had room #4 which had a balcony and was a great place to relax for a bit and shoot a few photos.
Tired of Italian or local food. This place has some of the best French food in Ethiopia, staff are very kind Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensivePhone: 0333 360380Directions: Spitting distance from the 7 Olives which is overpriced compared to this place

$15 for a twin. Rooms are pretty clean, but cold shower and water does not last all day so you can't flush toilet etc. Great location and price. However, prepare for the noisest hotel on earth. At 5am, shouting, banging, screaming, sawing etc starts and does not stop. We stayed in some noisey hotels in Ethiopia, seems to be part of the deal, but this was the loudest by a mile. Also, the entry is surrounded by beggars Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Just off the town centre

When I was at the Baro Hotel in Addis Ababa looking for a night minibus to Harar, the receptionist there suggested us to stay at this hotel. We didn't really have any in our mind yet, just wanted one that has no flea. When I got to the airport in Bahir Dar waiting for the flight to Lalibela, the airline staff was kind enough to make a call to the hotel and book a room for us including the transportation from the airport to the hotel. Arriving at the airport in Lalibela, we could see that no one from this hotel came for us but there were so many hotel vans taking people into town anyway so it wasn't a problem. The hotel manager came to greet us as soon as we arrived. They in fact sent someone to pick us up but our flight arrived too early so they missed us. The food at the hotel was very nice. The hot water worked very well. There was no flea. We couldn't ask for anything more! You can easily walk around and see all the hotels in a short time.
