Overpriced...
Not a recommendation but a warning: Le Meridien Re-Ndama. Inadequate eating facilities, a simple room-service breakfast that took almost an hour, a business centre that was boarded up because of some government investigation, apathetic and incompetent staff (though certainly not all staff - some were very helpful - but the staff needs to be managed better).
Unique Quality: Strong name recognition, supposed to be top-notch international hotel.

Expensive Option
The Meridian is an institution in Gabon and not for the right reasons. Granted it has one of the best locations on Independence Avenue (locally known as Bor De Mar) but the price tag doesn't warrant this place as a top contender for the best place to stay in Gabon. It roughly cost about 1300$ US a night which is absolutely insanity considering most people locally live on Baguettes that cost 50 cents American. The average person makes about 600$ a month so this should put things into perspective. Apart from the outrageous price tag, it has a lovely view, great bar and relaxed atmosphere. Come for a drink instead of a bed.
Unique Quality: Great African music on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
