Abompe Guesthouse: Beneath the giant bamboo
There's a pleasant, basic little one room guest house in Abompe - just turn up in the village and say you want to stay at the Visitor Centre. One room, netted windows to keep out mosquitos, a toilet and shower (from a bucket of water drawn from the well) and you can as for someone in the village to cook for you and bring the food to the Guest House. Very peaceful. Whilst there you can learn about the bead making and have a guide take you round the village - a well organised one hour tour. If you are strong you can get a guide to take you up the moutain - 3 hours tough climb in the heat - and sleep in a cave at the top. There a pic of the cave on my web site http://www.fiema.com/ when I slept up there two years ago - it was free of insects, quite cool, and noisy with frogs chirping and other forest animals making weird sounds all night! We slept on planks of wood and it was surprisingly comfortable!
