Kakum Camp Ground: Sleeping under the stars
There is no accommodation within the park, but you may be permitted to camp. There were signs to an official camp site, but we just pitched our tents near the Park Head Quarters. We were able to use their facilities, which were very nice and clean, with separate blocks for male and female, a mirror over the wash basin, running water (both in the basin and toilet), a Western-style sit-down toilet, locks on the door and toilet paper. All mod cons.
Personally I gave the tent a miss, placed my mat on the ground and rolled out my sleeping bag for a night under the stars. Unfortunately it was a bit cloudy, so the stars weren’t at their brightest, but they did make a brief appearance around 1am. A sleeping bag is strictly not necessary, as it never gets particularly cold during the night. A sleeping sheet would have sufficed.
There is a bar and restaurant there too, but neither were open the evening we stayed there – the bar was, however, open the following morning.
