La Palm Royal Beach Hotel is in my opinion the finest hotel in Accra. The location on the western side of Labadi beach is great. 152 Deluxe rooms & suites and a large outdoor swimming pool (see pictures).

I had the misfortune of staying at this hotel during my visit on last November. I checked into this hotel with a group of 12 and since I was the delegation leader, I must have given off a scent of having large sums of cash. I checked into my room and left for dinner and when I came back, my room had been ransacked, and the safe was pried out of the wall in the closet, along with my clothes, while my suitcase was used to carry the safe out of my room. Meanwhile, the hotel is yet to respond and explain how this occurred and moreover take responsibility given they have a sign at the front desk that requests all items of value be placed in the room safe. All that I'm being told is that there's an ongoing investigation continuing a year later. There was no forced entry, which means, someone at the front desk collaborated this robbery by providing a key to a hotel employee or a relative. I strongly advise, anyone reading this to consider staying anywhere else but here or never leave your room. The lobby air-conditioning only cools so long as your standing exactly next to the unit, the pool was under heavy construction which we were not told during the time of booking and also of considerable concern are the mosquitoes. These pesky flying blood suckers prey on you constantly, and more so given there are large stagnant water fountains outside of every room which serve as active breeding grounds. I think the last straw was thinking I going to have access to beach, then realizing that the hotel property is completely surrounded by an iron fence and closed off from beach access. I have more information for anyone interested in seeing the pictures from the crime scene. vlfour@tmail.com

I had a nice time in my two weeks stay at the LA Palm Royal Beach Hotel with my fiancee. The services we were offered are fantastic and i enjoyed every moment of my stay there. The facilities where great, good swimming pool, room and bar facilities. The meals, especially the buffet is something i will recommend to all visitors at the hotel.
Unique Quality: One outstanding characteristics of the accommodation is the services as rendered by staffs of the hotel. Don't miss the Buffet.

The most luxuous hotel of the country, build on the request of the former president, JJ Rawlings.
It is located on the Labadi road, 1km before Labadi Beach hotel. As the most recent, it is also the most modern. There are several restaurants, swimming pools, very large gymnasium with all possibilities.
There is a special Japenese restaurant with Sushi Bar and Teppanyiaky. The Ghanaian cook can really prepare the dishes on the traditional Japenese way. Don't miss that!!!
Unique Quality: the pool, the Ghanaian garden, with a taste to local food, the Bali restaurant, the conference rooms are very modern. Once inside, you are in the best 5 stars place.

Very clean, modern facility. Nice large rooms; I was in a cabana style building separate from the main hotel. Don't miss the great swimming pool and swim up bar!! Good restaurant, especially the breakfast buffet. Nice bar for evening drinks.
I had a wonderful stay here. I was traveling with my 3 year old son, and he loved this hotel as well. He had a great time hanging out at the swimming pool.
The service at the hotel was absolutely magnificent, and the staff were extremely polite.
I met many other world traveler's in the beautiful lobby of the hotel, and engaged in some very dynamic converstions.
In addition, the daily buffets were good too. The cost for the buffet is approximately $12.00 per meal. The La Palm Royal Beach Hotel is a superior deluxe, chalet property located on 30 acres of lush greenery on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. This art-filled hotel features the Atlantic Mall with the largest hotel conference and banqueting facilities in a sub-region and incorporates 8 fully equipped function rooms for all manner and size of occasion. Facilities include 4 restaurants, one of which features Ghana's only tepiyanki bar, 4 bars including an in-pool bar and an English Pub, a huge outdoor pool area and a well-equipped health club incorporating a gymnasium and several treatment rooms. In the hotel you can also find a nurse and doctor, Art gallery, Shopping area.
I stayed at this hotel, after my experience at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, so my expectations at this point were very high!! This hotel is definitely NOT La Palm, but it was nice.
The rooms are air conditioned, but pretty small. The bathroom had running water, a toilet, and shower. In some of the rooms, I was told, there are bathtubs. However, I didn't get that lucky on my last visit. The hotel has a small jazz bar - with live music in the evenings, a swimming pool (that didn't look too clean so we didn't swim), and a small restaurant.
Lovely hotel with what looked like great swimming pool, closed for renovation during my stay. Rooms are in hut like structures surrounding the main hotel, 6 rooms/suites per structure. Service was typical for Africa, good when it came but don't stress waiting. Facilities very good but don't accept mastercard. Amenities good with pools, shop, ice cream area, many restaurants and bars and also casino Terrific views from Ghanian Villiage, one of the hotels restaurants, unforunately hotel perimeter is surrounded by railings but fortunately there is 24 hour security patrolling grounds. Funny as a female in Ghana the only hassle from men came from either security or other visitors in hotel!!!!

Ghana is very friendly. We stayed at the La-Palm Royal Beach Hotel. (www.gbhghana.net) Even if you dont stay there, the Car Rental office on your left as you enter lobby was very helpful. You can rent a driver with NEW car from them for about 25 Dlls. for 3 hours. This is best to do. Dont go for street taxi. If you want a driver for more than 1 day, I recomend the driver we used. He can also take you to TOGO and BENIN. His name is RICHARD DALIKU. He was very nice, tel. 233 (02) 44 896151 (TAXI BLUE) As for beaches, the best are NORTH of ACCRA. Also Highly recomend the CASTLES north of ACCRA. The Artisan market is also a must do.
ALSO: If you arrive without a visa it will cost you $100 Dlls. upon arrival at airport. If you do this: ask for and keep receipt, they will ask for this just as you are about to leave airport. If you dont have receipt (because you purchased visa there) they will try to shake you down.
